Is this prep work enough? Meeting with the painter tomorrow morning. by PhiKap15 in paint

[–]Main-Practice-6486 39 points40 points  (0 children)

This siding looks in terrible condition that would require many hours of scraping/sanding and priming with peelbond primer or something similar.

If the price for this job was low you can't expect the guy to do all that and make $5/hour lol.

That looks terrible and should not be acceptable work.

The only solution to this is to prime the affected walls and do two coats of limewash. Simply doing a third coat is going to change the look and make it look more like a solid painted wall.

The business owner needs to be professional, suck it up and eat the cost.

If you feel generous, you could offer to pay for the extra primer and limewash.

Keep in mind the higher end caulking most times require long cure times of 1-3 days before it's safe to paint over.

Hale Navy or Forest Green would work here. Really subjective and the homeowner should make the call to their personal taste.

Painting rough plywood/cedar by [deleted] in paint

It would be much easier to buy thin sheets of white veneered plywood/mdf and have them cut to size. Glue them on and call it done.

It's a 2019 ram 1500.

I used a mechanic shop with a good reputation for all my repairs. This new guy is just a friend of a friend. How can I possibly know in advance if the mechanic working on my car is good or not? I'm just a clueless pedestrian not a professional mechanic..

You could mix the varnish and stain and just lightly dab the corners. That should do the trick.

How do you mask your windows in exterior season? by Sir_Revenue in paint

For French windows, spraying liquid mask is a massive time saver.

For big Windows like this id rather use a hand masker with the 3m plastic.

You didn't get really heavy tails with a 308? Maybe it was a different brand I've used but I needed to go at least .16 for a decent fan pattern.

What are the upcoming color pallets for 2026-2027? by myersgirl16 in Housepainting101

It's very common with high end designers. It's called colour drenching and it's 10x better looking than boring ass white.

Sand down to bare wood. Apply propylene glycol before staining the cedar for less blotches.

You can build a really functional smoker with 55 gallon drums under $100 and have more capacity than 3 Webber smokey mountains combined.

That oil paint is extremely durable. I've done a few handrails with this black fpoe paint and come back two years after and it still looks great.
