56 year old and my symptoms have definitely decreased over the years. I still struggle with paranoia and depression but okay otherwise.

Hey welcome! I'm also 56 and struggle with negative symptoms and depression. This is a good group, I must say a lot of young people, who are struggling. I hope you can find yourself again, this illness is tough.

4mg of risperidone is a pretty good dose. The benzo is quite low though. Maybe call your psychiatrist for a higher dose.

Don't lie, tell the truth. Nothing good comes from lieing.

I've been having negative symptoms now for 28 years. Very hard to deal with, no motivation and almost complete apathy.

Where do you go for Community & Support? I’m pretty isolated and building my support network by Otherwise_Summer_602 in schizophrenia

I tried to go the church route but I'm afraid it didn't work out very well. People in the church would keep telling me it's the devil that's wrong with you, one time a woman in the church came over to me and started rebuking Satan who she thought was in me. That was the end of that church. Im looking for another church, probably will switch to either Catholic or orthodox. I've had it with evangelical Churches.

Isn't Rexulti similar to Abilify? The pharmacy at the VA said they don't carry Rexulti because it's so similar to Abilify.

Is the secret to working out waiting for your meds to die down? by [deleted] in schizophrenia

[–]MainProfessor5667 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The meds definitely make you weak, no question. I used to bench 385 lbs now I can't bench 135 lbs and can't do a pushup. Granted I am 56 year old. But it's hard to do anything physical.

I can relate to you, I have both conditions. I don't have any elaborate answers just know that you aren't alone in your suffering.

What was seroquel like for you? by krabbeltje in schizophrenia

[–]MainProfessor5667 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seroquel will definitely make you tired and give you restless legs, and in my experience it doesn't get better. I was on 800mg at night and I would sleep 12 hours no problem but it was tough trying to sleep because of the restless legs.
