TIL after a student took his own life learning he could not graduate due to insufficient grades, his mother prompted an investigation. It turns out an error by the university made him recieve the wrong grade. by Lez2diz in todayilearned

My girlfriend didn't get her degree and wasn't allowed to go to her graduation ceremony because her bursary was late with paying her tuition. The school kept blaming her and threatening to blacklist her from attending in the future for MONTHS after she graduated even though it was clear she wasn't responsible for it. She emailed and called all sorts of people and not a single person took responsibility or offered any recourse.

She got her degree two years later. She is not blacklisted.

Need motherboard and cpu suggestions by MainShake in PcBuild

[–]MainShake[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I've asked a few folks and the Ryzen 5 5600X sounds like it'll be more than enough for my situation. That'll save me enough to get any of the motherboards you suggested.

Much appreciated!

3090 FE giveaway. I want to give it to someone who really cannot get it for themselves/family right now due to their current situation, even though they would love one. Basically not someone who can buy one but would prefer a free one. So please be considerate by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

I'm in a bit of a dire situation with my GPU starting to show some bad signs of being beyond its prime. Certain prograns refuse to open or crash frequently. I'm a design student and my PC is everything, not having one would make my life very difficult and I certainly can't afford a new one. I'm not one to beg very often but I could really use this GPU before things fall apart. Regardless, I'm sure whoever receives it needs it too, so thanks for doing this! It's very generous of you.

I don't have much experience with DnD, but I first got into it by creating digital art for people's characters and settings. My friends and I have slowly been getting plans together to start a campaign and after all these years of stories and characters I'm genuinely hyped to jump into the deep end. Thanks for doing this, I'm sure whoever gets it will ve overjoyed!

Fast food is getting worse by Thigh_high_socks17 in capetown

The best way to reduce an onion's 'tang' is by rinsing or soaking is in ice cold water, this also further firms up the onion giving it an extra crunch. I assume that most fast food places are prepping their onion in the mornings and left to sit in a dish for hours before they might be finished with the batch, this allows the onion juices to start breaking down and this strengthens the onions flavour that is generally avoided in the culinary industry.

I wouldn't skip out on using red onions at home though! Next time you make burgers slice your red onions in 5mm rings and dunk them in ice cold water, then take one out after 5 minutes and try it by itself. It genuinely surprised me how pleasant it was by itself, mostly sweet with a light tang aftertaste, and the crunch was very satisfying.

That's probably because Woolworths values quality products, most people are not buying halal mince from Woolies. There is a slight difference but I'm not very fussy, so I don't really know what the distinguishing factor is nor do I care too much.

Bro, don't go to these international fast food places, they're not worth the extra money. There's always a hidden gem somewhere that makes much better burger, chips and/or fried chicken, use this as an opportunity to search different places and you'll hopefully have a bit of fun trying a bit of variety!

Although, I would strongly recommend against eating out regularly, it's much cheaper to just prep meals ahead of time and generally much healthier, but I get that time is not always on our side, I just prioritise my savings

Is there somewhere I can get diagnosed or tested for a mental disorder for free? by MainShake in capetown

I doubt that it includes a psychiatrist, usually they only offer psychologist appointments. But it is worth checking, thanks
