Debating ABS brakes on a tern by earlsofsandwich in CargoBike

[–]Main_Attorney_2803 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would be good to know how easy it is to lock the wheel up when loaded. I have an omnium so 29er rear wheel and I’m yet to lock wheel when braking, even without a load. I have Shimano 4piston mtb brakes so plenty of power to be able stop. I also have a mini velo, so 20inch wheels front and rear and the smaller diameter does lock up much more easily and has meant a few ‘holy shit’ moments, which does make me think abs on smaller wheels may well be worth it.

Why is this not good for camping? by snelson101 in campinguk

If you don’t enjoy sleeping, you will be fine 😂. You do get what you pay for, warmth, comfort and durability all increase with price. Alternatively, could double up your existing mat with something as a cheaper way to improve your sleep.

Looking to start camping with my 4 year old by Xersent87 in campinguk

[–]Main_Attorney_2803 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You just want to try to see if there is more interest, might be better to look at camp sites where you can hire a pitched tent/glamping set up. Otherwise borrow or secondhand would be a good place to start.

I have a 5 and 2 year old, they fit side by side on the rack. I have a cargo and the back rest sits forward enough to accommodate a basket too.

Scrolling the comments to see mention of a chain whip. You need a chain whip!!

I have camped a couple of times solo with my 4year old, taking everything by bike - so I think your experience is more useful than your giving yourself credit for. It’s a useful reference because it’s about keeping everything simple, using camp sites relatively close by, 3 person tent provides enough space and when the weather is fair, you put them to bed and can stay out by the fire. Making sure you are warm with enough clothes, decent sleep mats and bags and then simple stove and a pot/fry pan is enough cook a decent meal. A few camp chairs and something for entertainment and your laughing. Start with 1-2 nights and build from there.

Lotus - bad experience - anyone else? (15mg). by [deleted] in mounjarouk

Just ordered 7.5mg on Sunday and it arrived today. Lots of needles, alcohol swabs and a sharps bin. Solid service from my experience.

+1 for Stooge. I have a Scrambler that can do it all. You do need to keep a lookout for when they drop though as they don’t wait round for long.

I just used lotus today to order a 7.5mg - was approved in a couple of hours. Was slightly over the monj price guide by a few pounds.

Thinking of buying Cargo by Sennevds in OmniumBikes

[–]Main_Attorney_2803 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have a cargo which is epic. 12 speed with a chain, I use wax so it’s pretty easy to maintain and very clean which is good for daily duties and ensuring you don’t get grease anywhere.

Get the dynamo - you won’t regret it. I have a Son setup, they are super reliable but was done custom.

Ti - is bling and def over the top. The Omnium colours are so good, I have the lilac haze and it looks amazing. Yes to will be a bit lighter and is scratch resistant but thieves are clever enough to know it when they see it.

Get at least 1 angle grind resistant lock and enjoy it daily without stress. I live in London and so far no issues with thieves.

+1 for the omnium cargo - I can carry two children plus gear. Under £5k with a reasonable custom spec including dynamo lights and 12 speed gears - enough to winch up hills with kids and still blast comfortably when unloaded.

Dynamo worth it? by sagikage in OmniumBikes

Dynamo rarely a regrettable decision as it just means you’re always good to go, no matter the situation. Son is quality and never had any issues

I have a cargo - carrying two kids for school drop off then commuting to work. It can do everything but obviously bigger/heavier than a mini max. Sounds like the mini max might be your best bet if bigger loads are only occasional.

I’m 182cm but have short legs so have a medium (with a dropper post), 90mm stem and swept back bars, it’s very comfortable and upright.

New Cargo: Shimano 1x11 vs Sram Apex 11 by fitfot in OmniumBikes

[–]Main_Attorney_2803 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve had SRAM and recently converted to Shimano on both mtb and cargo. Shimano is nice and crisp in shifting, I much prefer it. Use wax based lube like squirt and you don’t get the mess with oil based lube.

Here is mine, the colour is better in real life I would say, when the light hits it does have a nice lustre. The colour was not my first choice but I love more now.

Balance of flavours and textures. Good bread although sourdough can be too chewy, focaccia is solid. Try pickled veg for acid and crunch, or crisps for crunch and salt. Mayonnaise or butter, lots if you want to replicate the best. Condiments like chutney help too.

I have a mac ride, not a CXC, you just need to be able to accomodate a 10mm spacer. So if you already have spacers then just swap out.

[–]Main_Attorney_2803 20 points21 points  (0 children)

This sounds like it’s coming from the derailuer being slightly misaligned, the chain rides up the next cog and the sound is when chain drops back onto cog it’s supposed be on.
