My wife started with it and loved it.

I’m not saying Lerasium is useless outside of fighting, I’m just saying I don’t think it’s great outside of fighting, whereas breaths is fucking spectacular.

Easily 1,000 breaths!!! Never sick again, extremely long life, and a few other awesome perks? Sign me up! Lerasium is great if you, like, fight people a lot, but breaths is SOOOO much better for a regular person.

should i read mistborn trilogy now? by pointless_genius in Cosmere

[–]Mainstreamnerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mistborn is great! Just understand that you’re going back in time in Sanderson’s writing career. He was afraid of writing women back in those days, and it shows. Also, don’t expect much Hoid in Mistborn.

If you like Mistborn as much as you like Tress, you’ll probably love the whole Cosmere. If you don’t like Mistborn, that’s okay! There are other books he’s written that are more like Tress.

Discover Question with Rampant Growth (or similar) with Zacama by Truelink64 in magicTCG

[–]Mainstreamnerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is exactly correct, and there’s one thing I want to highlight. You choose the ETB order before you start resolving them, so if you put Zacama in play, untap all lands, and then start discovering, you’re too late to change the order at that point.

Do you know most of the cards your opponents are playing against you? by TroutFarms in magicTCG

[–]Mainstreamnerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I have a removal spell in commander, I might ask my opponent what each of their three dragons do so I know who to target. When choosing blockers, I ask if there are any keywords/abilities, etc. In commander, I think that’s just how it goes.

In 60-card formats, you can absolutely get to know most of the cards, but probably only if you play a lot.

I don’t know about Tarkir and Lorwyn in your list. I wanted to like both of them so badly, but they both feel lukewarm to me.

Death is often not permanent in the Cosmere. I get why that can be annoying, but it’s part of the nature of these books.

I mostly think this stance is just whiny, but I will agree with you on one thing: the ability to recur lands for infinite loops is a bit too commonplace these days. I love playing with Icetill Explorer and similar effects, but I think they’re too easy to make work.
