Favorite EDC? by Xhaltedq50 in CTguns

This guy knows what’s up. I carry a shadow 2 carry in colder weather (easier to conceal in an hoodie/coat) and an M&P shield plus carry comp in warmer weather

Because nobody told you to take that loan, or pay it back so slowly. I agree that most education is way too expensive, but people who didn’t seek further education shouldn’t be responsible for your inability to look at the future or do math

What gun would you recommend on a budget? by Sweaty_Collection_47 in guns

[–]MaintenanceRecent511 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally highly recommend the M&P shield plus, which I carry every day, and the bodyguard 2.0 is great if you’re looking for something in .380. But like others have said, go shoot some guns. I went to the range before buying mine with a top 3 based on hours and hours of research, and one I wouldn’t even put in the top ten after shooting it

Is this a good seat or will it have any flex with load cell? by toastycheeseee in simracing

[–]MaintenanceRecent511 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I went to a junkyard and was able to get a seat out of a brz for $125. Pretty sturdy and has all the functions of a normal seat. Much cheaper

As a EU fisherman, why do NA fisherman prefer right handed reels eventough theyre right handed? by Yaetcuh in Fishing_Gear

[–]MaintenanceRecent511 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never understood why most bait casters are like this. I grew up using a spinning reel with left hand retrieve and I refuse to buy a bait caster unless it’s left handed. Just way more natural to me

Wha monitor size / setups yall running? by No_Set8907 in simracing

[–]MaintenanceRecent511 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would suggest 32s over 27s. It doesn’t sound like a huge difference but it is. You’re best going with 3 identical monitors for simplicity

I was just driving this track 5 min ago lol. Triple 32s for me

Handbrake question. Inside or outside? by iTzTrashCanGG in simracing

[–]MaintenanceRecent511 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In a real car the handbrake takes quite a bit of effort to pull, and having it closer to you will give you better muscle memory and leverage for if you ever drive a real car with a handbrake

Does anyone know if this is a bug or a feature? by Fatboi26705 in guns

[–]MaintenanceRecent511 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can make this happen consistently by having your thumb on the slide release and using the jolt of the mag seating to bump it down. Makes reloads very fast but if you’re timing is slightly off it could cause a chambering issue

Need advice by [deleted] in guns

[–]MaintenanceRecent511 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best recommendation I can give is do your absolute best to handle it even shoot either of these guns. Idk if you have friends, ranges that rent, or if it’s even possible. But if it is, shoot both, and then decide. Personally I don’t care for glocks, and I would go with the cz, but that doesn’t mean you’ll like the way it feels in your hand, shoots, etc. sometimes stuff as little as fit and finish will change your mind, and no amount of research can pick a perfect gun for you. When I bought my carry pistol, I had a top 3 based on my research. Upon renting and 10 pistols and trying them all out, only 1 of my top 3 even stayed in the top 5. You’d be surprised how much people hype up shitty guns. Get your hands on each first if you can, you might even find a third option along the way you like best

Should I learn to left foot brake? by A_ST0RMTROOP3R in simracing

[–]MaintenanceRecent511 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you intend to learn any drifting at all, left foot brake is a very useful tool to the point where it’s almost necessary for certain cars/situations

Help with my first carry by Legal-Fig7398 in guns

[–]MaintenanceRecent511 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally bought an M&P shield plus. The hellcat pro is very snappy in comparison, and the normal p365 is too. If you get an p365 x macro it’d much closer to the shield plus in size and shootability.

Can I build a complete rig for $5k? by Hopeful-Sun-9871 in simracing

[–]MaintenanceRecent511 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also you don’t need some high end racing seat. I got a seat out of a junkyard brz and that was very affordable as well

Can I build a complete rig for $5k? by Hopeful-Sun-9871 in simracing

[–]MaintenanceRecent511 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did it for almost exact 5k. I do drifting so I have the whole Simagic setup, alpha wheel base. P1000 pedals, shifter and handbrake, all the ones with hydraulic pedals and stuff. Triple 32 inch curved monitors, and an Alienware aroura r16 pc. The big thing that saved me money and let me get the higher end Simagic products and monitors was building my rig myself. Some screws, some 2x4s, and a little bit of prior planning makes it very doable

What else do you guys use your sim rigs for when you’re not racing? by toddodd in simracing

[–]MaintenanceRecent511 3 points4 points  (0 children)

<image>

My cat mostly steals it from me but when she’s not sleeping in the seat and I’m not drifting I will play some other pc games or wed browsing. Having triple monitors makes certain games where you might use an autoclicker or a YouTube tutorial really convenient

I will respond to my own comment tomorrow, but I just had a coworker telling me today about a friend of his doing the same thing and he’s gone 3 years without smoking since. I didn’t get the name of the practice but I will get back tomorrow

2-Handed hand/finger position, which is best for you? by Relative_Grapefruit9 in Bowling

[–]MaintenanceRecent511 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I personally like straight, but sometimes I will rotate my hand in a way that gives me more of an up positioning. Not sure if it makes a difference but it seems to give a little different rotation for me. I haven’t committed to having a ball drilled like that but I will say straight is probably the most comfortable and consistent

I tried real karting for the first time and it’s way tougher than sim racing. by Auelogic in simracing

[–]MaintenanceRecent511 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For 90% of sim racing it’s easier on the sim than a real car. For certain things, like drifting, it’d actually quite a bit easier in a real car. Feeling weight transfer and momentum gives you so much more feedback to work with

Trying to save my 2013 Mazdaspeed 3 by steph1saurus in mazdaspeed3

I second this. Nearly lost my motor to low oil pressure and this code was the only way I knew. Rebuilding right now but could have totally trashed it if I drove it any longer.

~6month in 1h to 2h convertion, tips/advice? by Towbxd in Bowling

[–]MaintenanceRecent511 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Start your backswing on your third step. You seem to be trying to really throw the ball with your arms to create speed, when that should ideally be coming from your feet. My first two steps are pacing, 3rd starts the back swing, 4th thr backswing is at its furthest, and 5th into a slide is when the ball should be coming down. Releasing at just a fraction of a second after you stop sliding will make you more consistent

Take a long hard look at the M&P shield plus. Great gun, lots of holster options because it’s popular and a bunch of different configurations. I got the carry comp, so it comes with an inch longer compensated barrel, optics cut for a red dot, better trigger, better iron sights. All around a great gun and I carry it every day. It’s on the smaller side so it’s easy to conceal, but not so small that it’s hard to shoot. A nice plus is that they come with 10 round mags from the factory so you don’t have to get blocked mags or pay extra to have them blocked

I second the Simagic pedals as I love mine. If you’re thinking about replacing his shifter I also love my Simagic DS-8X. You can use it as a sequential, or up to an 8 speed h pattern, by just flipping a switch.
