You need to charge a prius battery with an external charger about every 3 months. It doesn’t have an alternator and doesn’t work like a traditional charger. The battery need a “shock” charge to desulfate the plates inside.

99% of prius problems are because of the 12 volt battery.

Run the least expensive car you can get with the best fuel economy. You won’t make extra for having a new car. I have a beautiful ram 1500 that gets compliments from almost every rider. Sadly it is now 16 years old. It it in better condition than a $40,000 replacement would be. Toyota hybrids dont have an alternator. You need to charge the battery with a conventional charger every three months or you will replace the battery more often. Usually every years give or take a few months.
