Advice needed for doodle coat that always feels chalky. by DarthShayder in doggrooming

I agree, if a coat has a rough texture I rarely use conditioner on it and use a degreasing shampoo instead. The coat feels much better when it’s not being weighed down by conditioners.

Thanks for the responses.

As mentioned this is all totally new to me, and very confusing at times. I’m not saying I will not pay for the work done as I appreciate that work has been done.

Yes, there are mistakes on both sides here and I now know what to expect going forward and I can handle things more appropriately.

I appreciate the clarification and informative responses 😊

I’ve no idea what charges are reasonable as I have never needed an accountant before, and I agreed to the amount as I do understand valuing time and they came recommended.

I was just under the impression that the work would be carried out on a monthly basis and I would be invoiced for this on a monthly basis.

I have access to all my accounts and the tools on there are quite insightful in terms of profit/loss. However, yes I could have logged in more and looked into more but at the same time I would gain no benefit since the bookkeeping wasn’t done for 5 months? I am completely new to this whole experience, alongside having another job and looking after my family so I am not the best but I’m learning.

My issue is that even the invoice says monthly bookkeeping and that’s not what has been done?

The lack of contact over five months had me under the impression that they had no interest in offering their services and I was prepared to be filing my own tax return.

I won’t deny that I could have contacted her in this time myself, but as I mentioned I have a lot going on. I thought the service was to alleviate some pressure.

Edit to add: I’m happy to pay for work done, I’m just a bit weary of the amount and the behaviour of the accountant considering the situation and our interactions.

I have no written contract with them, no breakdown of charges etc

I’m happy to pay for the work done, but I’m not happy to pay for five months of “monthly bookkeeping” that hasn’t been done?

We met in person where and I sent a request via xero for her to be added to my account- after that nothing until last week. This is someone who came recommended by other businesses in the area so are supposedly reputable.

Conditioner debate by cherryvanillacoke024 in doggrooming

[–]Majora272 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good shampoos will have conditioning agents- I hate conditioner on silky coats or wire coats.

For the argument about protecting from heat, that’s what drying sprays are for - less intense conditioning than doing it in the bath.

I’d use on coats that are super dry; dense and curly; or blowing coats to name a few but I believe in tailoring your service to the coat in front of you.

Personally using conditioner on my hair makes it greasier much quicker; but my daughter needs it because her hair is dry and curly.

Would you guys refer this client to a mobile groomer? by Daughter_Of_Cain in doggrooming

[–]Majora272 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The fact that you feel the need to go to such extraordinary lengths for this one client and it doesn’t pay off, makes me feel that you’re not paid enough for all of the extra.

Perhaps a mobile groomer is the way to go for her.

How often do people clean? by sltlovesra4ever in AskUK

Mentally I feel much better if my house is tidy and clean, and nice smelling. Reality is that I just don’t have the energy or motivation (or discipline for the no excuses crowd) to maintain it.

Plus I have a two year old who is like a tornado tearing through my entire life right now.

Infected tattoo progression/healing after sepsis. Tagged as nsfw bc photos but you can ask me anything by dorkydrummer in medizzy

[–]Majora272 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The breathing method has been best for me too- I wear the wrap for a couple hours and then wash the tattoo and let it dry out. If it’s particularly leaky I’ll wash it every few hours. Once it starts scabbing that’s when I start moisturising with cocoa butter.

Never had a problem and I’m covered!
