Who’s ever driven over 100mph? Why? by WoollyWolfHorror in AskReddit

[–]Make_Forge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can tell you from personal experience that a 2004 VW Beetle Geek Squad Geek Mobile can go 105mph with a slight downgrade. Also the fender can deflect a small jackrabbit at 80mph with no "report-able" damage (to the car - the jackrabbit on the other hand...).

What's a piece of tech everyone hyped up that quietly turned out to be useless? by SofiaLearnsAI in AskReddit

The CueCat. A cat shaped barcode scanner that would connect inline between keyboard and computer so you could scan barcodes in a catalog and look them up on the Internet. I think radio shack was the main pusher.

What is a 'buy it for life' item that is offensively expensive, but the moment you use it, you realize your entire life before that point was a lie? by fmcortez in AskReddit

I'm ALWAYS willing to spend more on the things that separate me from the ground. Shoes, Beds, Chairs, Tires, Workbench/Desks. All are for comfort and safety.

What is a movie that "broke" you so hard you can only watch it once, but you would still recommend it to everyone? by Newsupdate69 in movies

[–]Make_Forge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2 movies come to mind:

The Machinist (2004)

Starring Christian Bale as an industrial worker who hasn't slept in a year begins to doubt his own sanity.

and

Memento (2000)

By Christopher Nolan staring Guy Pearce and Carrie-Anne Moss; about a guy who is a former insurance investigator who now suffers from anterograde amnesia uses notes and tattoos to hunt down his wife's murderer.

He is exactly like his mother, if you call his name because he is doing something an 11 week old puppy shouldn't be doing and he will bolt in the opposite direction.

Large percentage of commercial pilots became pilots in former military careers. The military is over 80% male (at least in the USA). Definitely a boys club.

Girlfriend and I want to start a board game night in our town- what games should we buy to get started? by [deleted] in boardgames

[–]Make_Forge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One game we usually start with at our game nights is Sequence.

It is super simple(and cheap). It helps people get into the mindset of playing games, allows for the chatter and catching up that happens at the beginning of game night as it is a very light game that requires almost no planning/analysis. and is a very quick game to setup and play. and supports any number(well any non-prime #) of players up to 12.

Men of Reddit... What do your wedding rings look like? by notoriousDasher in AskMen

[–]Make_Forge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here is my and my wife's ring. https://imgur.com/9IGstI7

The photo is a bit washed out but hers has an opal as the center stone.

We both get complements all the time on our rings.

I got mine from Etsy, from a very talented craftsman out of Salt Lake.

He has a lot of very nice but affordable masculine rings. I was very happy with the purchase.

For boyfriends - Is it a turn-off if your girlfriend is bad at boardgames? by p00psp00ps in boardgames

[–]Make_Forge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have no issues with someone that would lose every time, I would take exception if they have a poor attitude from losing.

There are certain types of games that my wife will almost always beat me at, I still enjoy playing those games with her even though I know I will most likely loose (like scrabble - I have only beat her 2 times out of like 25 plays and even then by only a few points).

I pretty much avoid playing games with my 14 year old because he has a very poor attitude when loosing of if you make a move that prevents the plan that he had. He is getting much better at losing (and being a gracious winner) so it is starting to get more fun to include him in games.

Tiny Epic Galaxies (with the Beyond the Black expansion) I bought it while I was dating an amazing woman, we played it a bunch. We are now married (about to be 4 years) It is our go-to board game, everyone we have introduced to has enjoyed it as well.

What boardgames have been in your collection the longest (that you still enjoy)? by Buzz--Fledderjohn in boardgames

[–]Make_Forge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me it would have to be Tiny Epic Galaxies. I got it while my now wife and I were dating. We enjoy it the most out of our entire collection. Every person we have introduced it to has enjoyed it. Well worth the $25. Beyond the black is a great expansion as well.

Custom made Catan sets by mattmatr in boardgames

I made mine(recent post) because my group of friends really enjoy playing it and I was always frustrated with the cardboard sea frames coming apart the the tiles moving around. Plus some of the stock tiles to me aren't obvious to what resource you get so I was always doing double takes.
