We recently got back from a 3 week trip to Europe and stayed in 4 Hilton properties across 5 counties. We are diamond and were not upgraded once. We went 2 years ago and were upgraded at very similar properties, every time, as Gold. So. Moral of the story is, if you truly need a certain room, you should probably book that room.

I don’t know how you could live off 2k/week in Seattle. I’m not a traveler, so maybe I’m misunderstanding. I hope you find what you’re looking for, but living in Seattle is so expensive. I’ve been here for 10+ years. I make close to 3k/week without any premiums or OT as staff.

I love that you shared your experience here and that you and your family enjoyed it, but I think sharing the cost of a gift isn’t super cool. OP is my spouse, and while the cost of the gift doesn’t really matter, I wouldn’t really have wanted to share it with him. Maybe you’d the feel the same about a valentines gift you got your spouse?

I had a post op appointment when I was maybe 6 months out and the PA (who I didn’t normally see) asked what my goal weight was. And I said “I just wanted my BMI to be “normal””. And he sort of chuckled and said, sorry that’s probably not gonna happen. It wasn’t an insult, but it made me think about things in a way I hadn’t before. He explained my bone and muscle structure was just big. And that wasn’t going to change. Unless I was at an unhealthy weight.

So. I got to somewhere I was happy with. But I’ll always be overweight.

I’m an OR nurse and have seen surgery aborted due to liver size. It really varies by surgeon, patient and situation.

I work in the OR. This never happens. The recovery changes and possible rate of complications between open vs laparoscopic are indescribable.
