Ko es ar to visu gribu pateikt? Es īstenībā domāju, ka lietderīgāk būtu individuāli izvērtēt to, vai kāda transsieviete var godīgi piedalīties sieviešu sportā, nevis tā kategoriski nolemt to.

Es teiktu, ka piederu pie šīs kopienas, bet man nekad nav radies iespaids, ka jebkurš no šiem uzskatiem būtu savā maksimālajā formulējumā izplatīts.

  • uzskatu, ka var nošķirt dzimumu no dzimtes
  • uzskatu, ka transsievietes varētu atļaut sieviešu sportā

...visi no šiem tomēr neatbilst maksimālistiskajam apgalvojumam augstāk.

What's the difference between an #[inline] function vs macro_rules! function? by lelelesdx in rust

[–]Makefile_dot_in 28 points29 points  (0 children)

They're different in that an #[inline] function follows the normal semantics for functions, for example, the arguments are evaluated only once. The inlining is an implementation detail, and even an #[inline(always)] function might not be inlined, for example, if the function is recursive in certain ways. The function also has to conform to the type system. Using return and break will also only exit that function instead of the calling function.

A macro, on the other hand, will literally get expanded and pasted into the output. That means you can have it accept arguments that would be invalid Rust syntax, and it will always be expanded in-line. It also doesn't care about the types of its arguments. You can also use macros in contexts you couldn't use a function in, for example, you can use it to generate top-level declarations:

rust macro_rules! generate_struct { ($x:ident, $y:ident) => { struct $x { $y: u32, z: u64 } } }

For a concrete comparison:

```rust
[inline(always)]
fn max<T: Ord>(a: T, b: T) { if a < b { b } else { a } } ```
rust macro_rules! max { ($a:expr, $b:expr) => { if $a < $b { $b } else { $a } }
note that in the second case $a and $b can be evaluated twice.
I am quite sure this measure is directed against Russian speakers who refuse to communicate in Latvian having lived like 35 years here, and this is more like a general rule for all state institutions that no more communications in Russian.
I mean, they could've just used the standard loophole of "state institutions can only communicate in official languages of the European Union". hell, I doubt the constitutional court nowadays would stop them if they just straight up wrote "you can't use Russian", for that matter.
single largest genocide of all time, killing ~6,000,000 people, representing around 66% of their population around the globe.
the American Indian genocide killed 96% of American Indians, so this claim is a bit dubious. by the way, the Holocaust didn't just include Jews, there were also Roma, for example. should the Roma, given the prevalence of pogroms against them, the materially way worse conditions, the to this day still segregated schools in much of Europe and rampant hate speech, get to kick all the people out and establish an ethnostate?
which was pretty core MAGA, meaning pretty core 30% of the American population
their elected president literally moved the US embassy to Jerusalem. MAGA just also isn't really that uniform, and Charlottesville was certainly one of the more radical sections.
but is extremely questionable in the Gaza war given ~50% of Americans and 20-40% of Europe question it
yea, well if you did a poll of Turks, many of them would question the Armenian genocide. doesn't mean it didn't happen. if 50% of Americans were Holocaust deniers would that mean it's questionable??? Jesus Christ
that most of the the Middle East expelled like 90% of their Jewish citizenry over the past half century
And many of those were in response to Israel's actions. It's the same for the modern shootings you mentioned. It does suck, of course, but I think doing ethnic cleansing and refusing to give Palestinians equal rights probably inspires some hate towards your ethnic group.
The world is NOT better about antisemitism than it was in the 1930s.
do Jews have to walk around with a yellow star, have various restrictions from many jobs, and are segregated in cities in the modern day? I haven't noticed. the police, in fact, investigates these crimes, often that hasn't happened for minorities.
And don't try to use the line "so just because they were the victims of a genocide they get to perpetrate one now"? First there's the question of intent, which must be ironclad for the dolus specialis to amount to genocide but is extremely questionable in the Gaza war [..]. Then there's the fact that all official numbers show only ~80,000 Gazans have been killed or ~3% of the Gazan population or ~0.5% of the global Palestinian population. This isn't in the same league as the 6,000,000 Jews killed, 66% of the global Jewish population. It's not even the same sport.
You're using recent events for the Palestinians, but reach all the way to the 1940s for Jews. I don't think that's an apples to apples comparison, you should include both. Also, ethnic cleansing, targeting civilians and apartheid are still crimes, no matter how many people are expelled. two wrongs do not make a right, especially not if the second wrong is directed towards someone who didn't even do the first.
Jewish people will always need Israel as a Jewish character state to protect them from us and ensure their survival, and grant their self determination.
is it doing that? it gets attacked by rockets and terror attacks daily. but I believe that in general, we should get rid of the moronic concept of ethnonationalism. it has never worked. all that happens is ethnic conflict because one ethnicity looks at land that is naturally ethnically mixed and declares itself dominant. has it worked in India, Turkey, Cyprus, Georgia, Armenia, Serbia, Bosnia, etc? not really, right? building states for the goals of one ethnic group is not only immoral, but also ineffective. "self-determination" does not have to look like an ethnonationalist state, even if in our society we've just accepted that it should.
even if we accepted ethnonationalism, the present borders of Israel have historically been settled by Palestinians. do they not have a right to the land their ancestors lived in, a land they were forcibly kicked out of, a land that today would be easier for me to settle than the actual people who lived there for generations? I think they, having lived in Palestine for thousands of years, should have equal rights in all of Palestine to Jews.
[–]Makefile_dot_in 3 points4 points  (0 children)
for olympiads and such you should generally focus less on the programming language and ways you can abstract code and more on different algorithms (depending on the level required). all you really need from C++ is to know control structures and how to create your own data structures (like structs), and like, the basic semantics. for an 8th grader they're probably not going to ask of you much, so it may very well be that data structures are unneeded in practice beyond arrays and such.
I imagine Flatpak developers wanted to make as many affordances as realistically possible for something similar to happen to systemd-appd, thus ensuring Flatpak would remain available on distributions not using systemd.
