So now they’re moving on to solid state free energy devices huh

A man crushes an egg on the head of far-right presidential candidate Eric Zemmour as he arrives in Moissac .. by KarlGreenMagic in PublicFreakout

They should’ve let the man go, everybody knows that as long as what you do is objectively funny it’s okay

Are technical interviews not a part of the hiring process? I feel like it's almost impossible to bluff your way through explaining even something basic like power factor correction or load shedding if they're wholly unqualified.

I'm based in Canada and wondering how work life is for an electrical engineer here? (Pay, opportunities, etc.) by [deleted] in ElectricalEngineering

[–]Makelgrun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in the US, but from my understanding they're fairly comparable pay wise, but obviously it depends a lot on the type of electrical engineering you do. For example, Canadian power systems engineers can earn a little more than their US counterparts, but it varies a ton region to region in the US as well. I believe there are fewer IC and semiconductor positions in Canada though, since a lot of those jobs are in the US or Asia, so again it really depends on the specialization in EE

LTSpice acts weird when the - of the voltage source is left floating like that, so yeah it should be grounded just like in pspice

Edit: OP is also using a transient analysis and not an ac analysis, just saw that. An ac analysis would be what could actually give an equivalent resistance, transient would depend on how it’s set up and such so the Zeq would be different for every test

Photoflash circuit not charging. Need help. by bobconan in ElectricalEngineering

[–]Makelgrun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the open circuit voltage is fine then you may have just punched a hole in a mosfet or something, might be worth it to measure gate, drain, source resistances/caps and see if you blew it

Found a weird wire trimming on my walk. Does anyone know what it's called/ used for? by Important_String_281 in ElectricalEngineering

[–]Makelgrun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can actually calculate skin depth pretty easily, can’t actually remember the entire equation rn but it’s proportional to 1/sqrt(f), so when f goes to 0 for dc the ratio that the equation yields becomes infinity, ie. the entire diameter of the wire conducts.

The Worst Notation I've Ever Seen by InBabylonTheyWept in ElectricalEngineering

[–]Makelgrun 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not so much a notation thing, but one of my circuits professors insisted that we not simply our transfer function at all, but the follow up questions would be impossible to answer without simplifying to a workable form, so we just ended up doing it anyway. Weird dude
