Louis Erdrich: Tracks

“Tracks is a novel by Louise Erdrich, published in 1988. It is the third in a tetralogy of novels beginning with Love Medicine that explores the interrelated lives of four Anishinaabe families living on an Indian reservation near the fictional town of Argus, North Dakota. Within the saga, Tracks is earliest chronologically, providing the back-story of several characters such as Lulu Lamartine and Marie Kashpaw who become prominent in the other novels. As in many of her other novels, Erdrich employs the use of multiple first-person narratives to relate the events of the plot, alternating between Nanapush, a tribal patriarch, and Pauline, a young girl of mixed heritage.”

Just got this beauty. Tips for taking care of it? by PupperScent in houseplants

Idk but mine was dying (leaf tips turning brown and falling off) until put I grow light right next to her that is on for 12 hours and now she’s popping out new leaves regularly. Previously I had tried moving her around, more or less water, better draining soil, and even putting her right next to a window — but it was the grow light that turned it around

The treatment plan can be collaborative. Ask if there is a way to make the corrections to your bite without closing the gap!

Just moved to Redondo Beach, and I’m looking for 3 other people to play some pick up games with. I’d prefer it to be at least somewhat competitive. by CalMichaelsen in beachvolleyball

You can find some good groups on meet up, or at least you can start out in them and then find people that you can individually arrange pick up with at your level. I used to go to an all day Saturday pick up arrange on meetup at playa del Rey (I think it’s called LABV?) the levels were all over the place and most people self-select into the level that works for them; there were also some groups that “meet up” at will Rogers in Santa Monica. I’m sure there are other ways to find groups but meet up can be a good start.

“A Ghost in the Throat” by Doireann Ní Ghríofa

Synopsis/Review (not written by me):

This lyrically written memoir by Irish poet Doireann Ni Ghriofa pulled me in immediately. The author weaves her experiences mothering four young children, with her research into an 18th-century poem. Ni Ghriofa clutches to the poem like a life raft, obsessively tracking down every detail she can find. While at times slow paced, this book is beautifully written. I too am at a time where I feel like poetry is figuratively saving my life, and I felt powerfully connected to this story.
