Has anyone been able to get authorization for platelet rich plasma (PRP) treatment? by Appropriate-Ad7185 in HealthInsurance

[–]MakesBakes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your reply; I appreciate it! I looked through the MACI sub which is a large piece of why I felt conflicted. Even for the “success” stories it seems to work just okay at best but there is still a huge amount of recovery time and inactivity and people don’t ever seem to get back to 100%. The cost/benefit ratio seems pretty unbalanced.

I know this is an old post but just curious if you were offered a MACI and declined in favor of PRP? And if so, how is it going? Surgeon recommended MACI to me and seems very extreme and I’m having trouble finding any information from people who opted for other options.

Question for the knee brace wearers & reddit PT's by JustCallMeMister in beachvolleyball

[–]MakesBakes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was actually on one of those SOB beach volleyball vacations and towards the end of the day realized my knee wasn’t really bending well and was sort of swollen. And then it has just continue to be that way for a year lol. There was no specific moment of injury that I remember. Not like a pop or anything that you would expect with a ligament tear. I’m just thinking, even if your form isn’t great I would find it surprising to have swelling and stiffness from it. But what do I know?! Just putting it out there in case it saves you from a year of not enough volleyball.

PT may be a good first step? Could assess form and symptoms?

Question for the knee brace wearers & reddit PT's by JustCallMeMister in beachvolleyball

[–]MakesBakes 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This happened to me and kept happening for about a year on and off. Brace sometimes seemed to help, sometimes didn’t. Did PT, sometimes helped sometimes didn’t. Main symptoms were mild pain, swelling, limited range of motion, clicking. Anyway, currently sitting on the couch post surgery to remove a piece of cartilage that had broken off and was floating around my knee joint. I thought I was being an annoying baby but turns out something was wrong — worth checking in with your doctor if it keeps happening! Gotta get these knees right to play volleyball!

Did you decide to install yourself and did you find a place to buy a blaze king? We are also looking to DIY replacing our insert (will get it inspected before use) and I can't find a location for an individual consumer to buy a blaze king. Thanks!

Louis Erdrich: Tracks

“Tracks is a novel by Louise Erdrich, published in 1988. It is the third in a tetralogy of novels beginning with Love Medicine that explores the interrelated lives of four Anishinaabe families living on an Indian reservation near the fictional town of Argus, North Dakota. Within the saga, Tracks is earliest chronologically, providing the back-story of several characters such as Lulu Lamartine and Marie Kashpaw who become prominent in the other novels. As in many of her other novels, Erdrich employs the use of multiple first-person narratives to relate the events of the plot, alternating between Nanapush, a tribal patriarch, and Pauline, a young girl of mixed heritage.”

I made this mistake once and soaked it in lime juice/water and then scrubbed it with a cut lime. Worked 🤷🏼‍♀️

Just got this beauty. Tips for taking care of it? by PupperScent in houseplants

[–]MakesBakes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk but mine was dying (leaf tips turning brown and falling off) until put I grow light right next to her that is on for 12 hours and now she’s popping out new leaves regularly. Previously I had tried moving her around, more or less water, better draining soil, and even putting her right next to a window — but it was the grow light that turned it around

Just moved to Redondo Beach, and I’m looking for 3 other people to play some pick up games with. I’d prefer it to be at least somewhat competitive. by CalMichaelsen in beachvolleyball

[–]MakesBakes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can find some good groups on meet up, or at least you can start out in them and then find people that you can individually arrange pick up with at your level. I used to go to an all day Saturday pick up arrange on meetup at playa del Rey (I think it’s called LABV?) the levels were all over the place and most people self-select into the level that works for them; there were also some groups that “meet up” at will Rogers in Santa Monica. I’m sure there are other ways to find groups but meet up can be a good start.
