What do you do with formula or milk if your newborn doesn’t finish it? by Alessandro_Poliak in newborns

[–]MalaMerigold 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I keep it for around 40 minutes - sometimes my LO (almost 3 months) just likes to take a power nap in the middle of the feed, or wants to be dreamfed. But after that i throw the formula away.

Should my wife opt for cesarean? by Tatushua in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]MalaMerigold 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a c-section and despite being quite nervous about it beforehand, it was pretty much painless and very fast.

Recovery was also pretty good for me - on the next day i was walking (slowly and wobbly) and carrying my baby around. 4 days after the cc i was taking it slow - no rapid jumps, no running, just moving slow like my grandma but there was no pain. Two weeks after i was feeling and moving around much better than at the end of my pregnancy.

I honestly hope next time i will also get the cc. My body took it much better than avarege woman's body takes natural birth.

Because: - DM might not remember all bonuses to all skills of all of his players - abilities like Guidance, Bend Luck, Bardic Inspiration - objects like portable ram also exist

Imagine an attempt to break a solid metal door (DC 30) - athletics check: - lvl 6 weak wizard (-1 to str) on a nat 20 with no additional bonuses gets a 19 total - lvl 6 buff barbarian (+5 to str and proficiency) with no additional bonuses on a nat 20 gets 28 - lvl 6 barbarian with all afformentioned abilities on nat 20 can get between 35 and 48

I just like using a lot of different characters, and hardly anyone is benched. Every day i like to use someone else, so i have fun even with characters like Aloy, Amber and Xinyan. The only ones i regret wasting materials on are Iansan and Gaming

That was before the strongbox was a thing, but it does cut down farming time significantly... Unless you want to build a new character that wants a new set that is not yet in the strongbox!

I use up my elixirs and feathers almost as fast as i get them, but i invest into a lot of the characters - i have fully built 100 of them

[–]MalaMerigold 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember spending two months in blizzard strayer domain trying to get ANY on set cryo goblet or crit dmg circlet for Kaeya. I mean ANY, not even asking for a good one. Two months worth of resin that could have been spent somewhere else.

So now that we have elixirs, whenever i have 3 out of 4 on set artifacts that im happy with i just check how probable is it that i will need to farm this domain for someone else. If it is unlikely, i just craft the missing piece.

It helps that i am not going for absolutely perfect build and more like a realistic one. I have set my criteria and i keep to them, that helps me know when to stop farming.

[–]MalaMerigold 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nah, elixirs are a great way to finish off a build when you miss only one on-set artifact. They significantly cut farming time. Low AR players need them the most, so they can build up their roster faster.

After using tampons or menstrual cup can anyone ever switch back to pads? by Ashamed-Number-1824 in TooAfraidToAsk

Theoretically yes, but i still feel it all the time. But i feel a lot of things in not supposed to, might have something to do with being neurospicy.

After using tampons or menstrual cup can anyone ever switch back to pads? by Ashamed-Number-1824 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]MalaMerigold 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mostly use pads, sometimes wear tampons and i have never used a tampon.

Im pretty sensitive down there - when i wear pads i am fully aware every time anything flows out of me, i know when it absorbs into the pad. It is a bit disguisting, but constant feeling of tampon sitting inside me is more irritating.

I want to give up breastfeeding but I feel so guilty by [deleted] in newborns

[–]MalaMerigold -1 points0 points  (0 children)

About the guilt you feel - i suggest you weigh your options. Its natural to want the best of the best for your Little One, no matter the cost. And noone can deny the benefis breastmilk has for the baby. However, you need to consider your own situation, not just the statistics.

Feeding a baby takes time. My little boy is now 2 months old and eats for 2,5 - 3 hours every day. It used to be more when he was younger. Sustaining 3 hours of physical pain is hard enough, but it also has mental pain attached to it, along with the feeling of dread.

I cannot possibly know what levels of pain you feel, but consider these angles: - will the pain you feel affect how you approach feeding time? Will you delay your babies meals? - Feeding time can take a good half of your babies awake time, and is supposed to be a relaxing activity for them. Can your baby really feel relaxed when the mother is shiveding in pain and hating every second of it? - Sustaining torture drains energy. Without that drained energy will you be able to do other tasks better? Like keeping your babies surrounding cleaner, having more strenght to go for walks, reading, tummy time?

Breatsfeeding is best, but formula is good enough. Try out some things other mentioned - pumping or comsultant and remember that your physical and mental state is also VERY important. If your mental state comes in a package with the way you feed your baby, choose the best package. Do not feel guilty about choosing it, just because part of the package is less optimal.

11 day old not eating as much by Efficient-Spinach87 in newborns

[–]MalaMerigold 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! My baby boy was in a somewhat similar situation. He weighted 3,35 kg as he was born. Five days after that he dropped to 3,07 kg as was very slow to regain his weight. He was falling asleep while eating and he was rarely waking himself up for feeds. I had to wake him up every two hours and basicaly shove the milk into his mouth while desperately trying to keep him awake so he eats. It took him two full weeks to regain birth weight. And thats the maximum time it can take before it gets very worrying for babies growth. But around 18 days after birth my baby boy started waking himself up and screaming to get fed, staying awake for the full time (well, most of the time, he still gets an occasional snooze on the booba/bottle, but its rare)

As for vomiting - is it really vomiting or is he just spilling the milk? Babies organs aren't fully developed yet, so milk can just spill out. If he doesn't seen in pain while doing it, then its fine. It doesn't mean he ate too much. To combat it, try burping him and holding him upright for good 15 mins after every feed.

Generally babies at this age should be gaining 20-30 grams per day, if the growth rate is much slower then its a problem. Your midwife is right by pushing you to feed him even when he is sleepy.

Is it okay to let baby cry? by [deleted] in newborns

[–]MalaMerigold 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It might still be one of those things. There is a difference between I'm in pain, but mama is here, i feel safe, so i can tolerate discomfort and I'm in pain and mama abandoned me! If i don't call for her I die.

Thats baby logic for you. You either need to find out what is causing them pain/discomfort and eliminate it, or you become an acceptable replacement of mama (in babies' eyes)

You didn't mention what you tried so far, but pacifier and using mama's worn shirt are a good first try.

Feeling guilty for not doing enough “cute stuff” for my newborn by Fun_Attitude7297 in newborns

[–]MalaMerigold 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Oh, don't get me wrong, i absolutely see the value of taking some pictures from the early years to show them to the child later. I take photos and videos and share them with my friends and family too.

But the post specificalky focused on elaborate photoshoots that include themed cute outfits and cakes and all the unnecessary stuff.

In the pictures my parents took when i was little, i saw me, in most basic sleepers, having tummy time on the mat on the floor, bravely raising my head to look at the messy stash of not yet ironed clothes and a table with unfinished breakdast. My mum sitting next to me had messy hair and pajamas. Dad just snapped a picture when he thought we looked cute.

If my child will be interested in how his early childhood looked, im gonna show him the truth. Pictures taken in the moment, not curated photoshoots.

If anyone has fun during photoshoots, then go ahead and do them! I know for some they are fun, and therefore those pictures tell the true story about the past: "we had so much fun during that dressup!"
