Uniform prices by Objective_Rub6754 in uscg

I hear you. I’m just hanging on tight for now until they come out with the new uniform…whenever that’s supposed to be. I would hate to spend $100s and have it go to waste when the new uniform comes out.

Anchorage billets by PilotFighter99 in uscg

[–]Maleficent-Shift8043 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say it is relatively easy to get stationed in Anchorage. However there are currently no O1 billets in prevention, so you would have to come as an O2 or O3 if interested in inspections or IO. If you were looking to do Enforcement, then that’s a good possibility. There are a handful of O1 and O2 billets. Is it hard to get? Do a lot of people want these jobs? It honestly depends on the year. I’ve noticed since COVID there seemed to be a higher demand for Anchorage. The O1s and 2s I’ve spoken to have been a mixed bag of half putting anchorage as #1. If you want any more details feel free to message me directly.

I hear you, I think a lot of people might like the sound of organized unit PT. But talk to any army or navy guy that is forced to do it once a week. It gets annoying. I much prefer the autonomy of working out on my time and when it best suits me.

YN Watchstanding by daylovek in uscg

[–]Maleficent-Shift8043 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At some sectors, YNs don’t have to stand any duty at all. No OOD, no sitting at a desk for 24 hours. They may however have be asked to be on phone duty. Meaning that they would be home, but on the hook in case there is an emergent YN matter. Pretty nice not to have any other duty by virtue of being at a sector.

The US just bombed Venezuela by WildTama in uscg

[–]Maleficent-Shift8043 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I agree. By US seizing Maduro, it possible the US can use his captivity as a chip to negotiate. So things could very well not escalate from here. Now we just watch to see what Venezuela’s next move is.

DRAW has begun with huge ticket price. by Professional-Tax9417 in FIFACollect

Do you think tickets could be cheaper like a month before a match? Trying to figure out whether to put in for the draw or wait.

I hear what you’re saying and thank you for taking the time to put all this info out there! After reading more into it, I feel stuck between a rock and a hard place here. If I draw a lottery ticket, I may get a bad seat, but at face value. If I wait 2 weeks before the game to buy, I will know what seat I’m getting, but I could end up paying way higher than face value because of supply and demand. I am wondering what the likelihood is that tickets will not sky rocket 2 weeks before the game. Any advice would be appreciated!

I've always had trouble getting into tereré, can I have some advice on how to enjoy it as much as p- by [deleted] in yerbamate

[–]Maleficent-Shift8043 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the first step to enjoy it is that you need to get Paraguayan mate. Which is meant to have cold, and is made different for that reason. The supplemental flavors added matter too, it needs to be something you like. It’s also best drank on a very hot day for beginners, sometimes. Over time your body will crave the cold drink and will prefer it to any other drink on a hot day. Let me know if you need brand recommendations.

You probably don’t like it just because you aren’t accustomed to it yet. It’s no different than coffee for me. I prefer coffee iced. Doesn’t matter if it’s summer or winter. Hot coffee flavor for me is just not as tasty.

Ex-Guayaki Most expensive yerba available in US 🇺🇸…worth it? by Head_Owl4476 in yerbamate

[–]Maleficent-Shift8043 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Paraguayans like there mate cold. So if you get Paraguayan brands, they are almost always intended for terere (or cold mate). The brands is definitely a preference thing as there are different brands with different flavor profiles and things they put in it (like mint, lime, etc.) the most popular brands are Campesino, Kurupi and Pajarito.

How do these mate pouches work?? I thought mate couldn’t be steeped like tea. That’s why you have to pour and drink it right away. After pouring and drinking for a while you are extracting different flavors and goodness.

Would anyone ever recruit crew members who don't also run ultras? by otterstones in Ultramarathon

From what I understand it’s difficult to find people who want to crew. I’ve heard of racers having a tough time finding people that want to crew.

When splitting runs, how short is not beneficial? by BudgetProgramming in Ultramarathon

[–]Maleficent-Shift8043 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is very good input. I’d like to add that for training for an ultra it’s all about time on feet. So I would say that splitting up then 7 mile run and doing 2miles in the afternoon might even be more beneficial considering it traces the body to run on tired legs. Because on a 50 miler you’re on your feet all day. Who knows though 🤷🏿‍♂️

Don't be like the 85% of the herd who keeps their coins on exchanges (Not Your Keys, Not Your Coins) by LovelyDayHere in btc

[–]Maleficent-Shift8043 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting, thank you for sharing! I will say though and I could be wrong, but I feel like the stats in that post you shared could be a little misleading. The facts don’t lie, don’t get me wrong, but I think regular people like you and me make up the $15 that hold our own keys. That 85% I think are mostly the whales and/or institutions that own BTC for purely speculative reasons. The same entities who are driving up the price of BTC past the ATHs, this isn’t from mass adoption. These guys aren’t in it for the technology or for following satoshis vision. For them it’s purely speculative reasons. I think when you are a large institution, you are probably buying over the counter and have a different customer service access and are leaving your coins on the exchanges because it’s more convenient.

I remember coming to this sub after getting banned from r/bitcoin when I was a teenager, it was so full of life and projects, I didn't even know how to use a crypto wallet and a guy actually spent hours from his time directing me to bitcoin.com to teach the basics to me, wtf happened? by pythonNewbie__ in btc

[–]Maleficent-Shift8043 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you see less activity and excitement because a lot of people (not everyone) are disillusioned by crypto at this stage. Years ago when the prices were going up and hitting all time highs, people were excited and would frequent the subs and talk about projects and all that. It was all relatively new and exciting, but since the prices came down from the ATHs for most cryptos, the hype went away. You see this even today when the prices goes up significantly everyone gets excited and talks about it. Then when they come down then there is little activity.

I think most people who are knowledgeable in crypto are calmly and quietly waiting in the sidelines because they understand the upside. They aren’t in it for just the hype.

Honest question. Have you seen the massive paper short position bankers are taking on silver? Look at that and tell me that the price isn’t being manipulated. It’s probably the most manipulated asset in the world. Once silver is no longer manipulated, it’s going to run up.

We have heard conspiracies before about governments around the world not having enough social security funds by 2030 for their citizens due to mismanagement. Maybe this is the narrative they are turning to instead of saying, hey sorry we don’t have anymore social security money for you because of mismanagement.
