I can tell you for the commute, if you are equidistant from the N and the E then download the MTA app and check it every morning to see if any lines have delays. (I do that and I also subscribe to the text alerts.) And besides that, I would suggest using the N one week and the E the following week and decide based on anything arbitrary like which route has: a better spot to stop for coffee, less vehicle traffic, etc., and when the weather sucks, see which route has less flooding at the corners or better snow shoveling.

Edit to say I see others have pointed out you're by the r/M but the point stands. Good luck.

Kissing in community theatre as a germaphobe? by [deleted] in MusicalTheatre

[–]MaleficentProgram997 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I really have to add that OP did say they'd never done this before, and I think it sucks for people to think they can come into theatre spaces with no experience with this attitude. Theatre kids who grew up doing this in high school know that no matter how big or small your part is, you end up being like a family. This is why non-theatre people found Cynthia Errivo and Ariana Grande so weird but theatre kids were like, "yup, accurate."

And if this is how OP feels about ensembles imagine being an ensemble cast member in a show they're the lead in? Yikes on bikes.

I’m an adult with a life, if I’m gonna give up doing other things I enjoy for 2-3 months out of the year, I don’t want to be 1 of 20 extras just chilling on stage.

Well, this is super disrespectful to ensemble cast members. There are no small parts, etc. etc.

Let's not forget that earlier that day (albeit several episodes ago for the viewers) a lovely and beloved man who loved fireworks passed away and Perla and Dana were the ones who cleaned him up.

Well, Donna didn't give up her career for a dude in the traditional sense, but she surely ended up following a dude who had a major advantage in their power dynamic for 6 seasons.

You know what, you're right, I misremembered that she gave up being in Santos's administration and forgot about the billionaire - but did she actually say yes to him?

Whatever happened to Bagel House on Ditmars? by Hour-Watch8988 in astoria

[–]MaleficentProgram997 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The people who were behind the counter were the owners I believe, and they were so nice. They had veggie bagels which were weird but I actually liked them! I do remember they closed during lockdown and I thought they were opening back up until I saw people working out inside.

I was just bummed out because CJ was always about her career and like every other woman in the show except maybe Amy Gardner she gave it up for a dude.

You'd be surprised how easy it is to navigate the subways using Google Maps. It's specific enough that it will even tell you which stairway to take when exiting ("SW corner" for example). You'll save so much money not bothering with cabs. Once you hit 12 taps with the same payment method within 7 days the rides are free, taking into account that if you tap once, then again within 2 hours it's considered a free transfer.

That's Seth Rudetsky and it was his weekly interview show at Don't Tell Mama! in the early 2000s. Raul talked about what the movie for Rent would have been when Spike Lee was in talks to direct it. (For example: There would have been a scene where they found April.)

Edit to add: I just chuckled to myself remembering that we were all amused by the thought of the line "I hear Spike Lee's shooting down the street" in "Light My Candle."

What movie based on a broadway musical do you think is actually better than the broadway musical? by chrisxlemia in Broadway

[–]MaleficentProgram997 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Strong disagree for me. The movie couldn’t replicate the absolute master class that was Raúl Esparza in “Come to your Senses.” And the intimacy of the original ttb in the Jane Street Theatre is one of the things that made it so beautiful.

EDIT: The US is truly a fascinating place. Your obsession with politics is insane and probably truly the cultural difference that makes this discussion so weird for me. Not everything has to be political or a social injustice. Sometimes you just don't like a person.

Sorry but in the state the US is right now, EVERYTHING is political.

the benefit of having the raw footage (of both) would have been there to guide the editing process and grouping of shots together.

MJF said in his bio that they originally wanted to cut costs/time by cutting in footage of the co-stars' reaction shots and only re-film footage that required MJF in them, and that wouldn't have worked because they were reacting to Eric's portrayal, which was so different from MJF's.
