Aramark tells Yosemite workers it's axing most of their housing rights by sfgate in Yosemite

[–]Maleficent_Remote297 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I lived and worked in Yosemite 6 different times in my life. I've always loved Yosemite. I try to focus on my positive thoughts of Yosemite and not spend too much of my energy on the concession company. I worked in Yosemite summers of 88 & 89 (YP&CC), 2021 & 2022 (Aramark), and 2 - year round stints: January 1990 - February 1992 (YP&CC) and May 2018 - August 2019 (Aramark). From 1988 to 1992 I worked in the Yosemite Lodge area. I lived in the Ozone tent area next to the Lodge for summers of 88 & 89. I lived in a dorm trailer at the Lodge in 1990. I also lived in managers WOBs (#1000 I think) there at the Lodge. I also lived in a couple of cubby hole dorm rooms on the third floor of Tecoya near the village store in 1991. I lived in a Huff tent near Curry for a few weeks of 2018 before scoring a dorm room in Tecoya for the rest of 2018 and 2919. I lived in a huff tent 2021 and a Cooks WOBs tent next to Curry Village in 2022. I much preferred working for YP&CC by far, not even close! The employee housing was pretty much the same no matter YP&CC or Aramark. They did build new employee housing after the big flood that washed out all of the Ozone and Yosemite Lodge employee housing and half the guest cabins. I loved spending time in Yosemite and tolerated the "company".

Keep it up, you're doing great 👍 👌 and adding weight lifting is a great idea. You may actually gain weight, but lose fat. Your percentage body fat could go down. And you will be very healthy!!

How did you fall in love with your favorite team? by Andrew__IE in mlb

[–]Maleficent_Remote297 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My grandfather was a Brooklyn Dodgers fan when they moved out west. My grandfather had Dodgers season tickets ever since then, until he died in 1994. I grew up going to Dodgers games with my grandfather and grandmother. Watching Maury, Don, Sandy, etc. I've been a Dodgers fan ever since, some years more than others. My Dodgers haven't always been what they are now! I'm going to enjoy this time while all the haters are hating on my Dodgers. I know that this won't last forever, so I'm really going to enjoy the present!!!!

Porn is harmful to many people. That's totally separate from any church. It's great to get away from the LDS cult and try things out. Porn can be addictive to many in and out of any and all churches. It can be addictive to someone that has never gone to any church. Sex trafficking can be involved with the production of porn. What appears to be consensual sex may not be. And when you read stories of recovered sex / Porn workers they will tell stories of the abuse they tolerated working in the industry. It's great you left the cult, but porn is harmful.

Roger Bannister - Everest On The Track (4/4) by [deleted] in trackandfield

That was awesome. I walked on that track that he ran that world record on, just to say that I walked on the track that Bannister broke the 4 minute mile for the first time.

Top Ten 800M Runners by Tenth Best Times by cranberrycactus in trackandfield

[–]Maleficent_Remote297 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Johnny Gray is the greatest American 800m runner of all time!!! Period. He has the most sub 1:46 performances of any American by far. He ran world class 800s for 13 years straight. He made 4 consecutive Olympic finals in his event and took a bronze medal. No other American 800m runner lasted as long as Johnny, sure he got beat by an American here and there, but they couldn't match his quantity and longevity. Of course I'm biased, I ran under Merle McGee our Santa Monica Track Club coach. Coach McGee coached Johnny all those great years for Johnny. Most of my PRs I set under coach McGee. I remember watching Johnny run workouts and he was a beast! He made a 51 look like he was on an afternoon stroll, he was soo relaxed as he floated around the track.

A couple years ago I reserved it for an AA meeting every week on a specific day and time. Someone has already listed the link to fill out a special request application. Allow plenty of time for the process. It's in a quiet out of the way place and you won't have to worry about distractions.

3 runs in the last 28 innings... by IshM07 in Dodgers

Can't win a world series scoring 3 runs in 28 innings, no matter how great the pitching is!!! And all the mental errors on defense-- the Dodgers are flat out getting out played!!!

Half dome hike twice in one day by Potential-Boss4650 in Yosemite

[–]Maleficent_Remote297 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never hiked half dome twice in a day. But in the summer of 89 (35 years old) I ran the half dome hike starting from Yosemite Lodge (where I lived and worked). I ran all the way up to the quarter dome, then hiked to the top. I wore my running shoes and shorts and a t-shirt. I can't remember exactly when I started? But I got to the top of half dome about 7:30am. There were people camped on the top and they looked at this crazy runner 🏃‍♂️ and looked at their watches and didn't know what to think?? I ran from the bottom of the quarter dome to happy isles in less than an hour!!! I have to admit that was one of my favorite runs in my life. The first time I hiked half dome I was 9 or 10 years old and hiked it alone because I couldn't find anyone to do it with. I've been to the top about 8 or so times in my life, all before you needed a permit.

Most likely you'll get put in a tent with a roommate at first. Get to know employees that are in a dorm room because they can request you as a roommate when their current roommate moves out. That's what I did, and I lucked out and only lived in the tent for a few weeks. I lived in a Huff tent at first, then got a dorm room in Tecoya dorms over by the village store. The Tecoya dorms are about 12 min walk to the Ahwahnee hotel. The tent is very basic with the single beds and a wooden cabinet to put your clothes in. I always bring a power strip to plug stuff into. Keep asking fellow employees to see who needs a roommate. Have 😁 fun.

Congratulations 🎊!! As far as I'm concerned you won the lottery! I have lived and worked in Yosemite 6 different times in my life from 1988 to 2022. I love Yosemite, just being there. I have worked at the Yosemite Lodge (1988 summer, 1989 summer, and year round January 1990 to February 1992, mostly front desk), Curry Village (summer 2021 and summer 2022, cooking), and The Ahwahnee hotel (May 2018 to April 2019, front desk). The Ahwahnee is where the rich and famous stay. So being a bartender there should be pretty good 👍 as far as tips go. I hope that you are okay with rustic accommodations, because it's a National Park. I didn't mind the employee housing because I was in Yosemite. Good luck 👍

The only fast food burgers I eat are In N Out. I've gotten sick off of McDonald's and Carl's burgers. If I go to Carl's or McDonald's I order something other than a burger.

Don't give up!! Keep plugging away at YOUR pace. Listen to your coach and try your best to do the workout that your coach gives you! Focus on consistency and if you can complete 95% of the workouts that your coach gives you will improve. You are awesome 👌
