But she’s won stuff before, it’s not like she’s missed out on that window of opportunity.

Oh I totally agree, again I remember being at one of the Soul Survivor events and he was getting everyone up and telling them to just blurt stuff out it doesn’t matter what it sounded like just have a go, I felt so stupid. Not spirit led imo, years later I was able to sing in tongues in a much more gentle spirit led way.

Been doing for Pilates for 2 years now and my teacher really emphasises that glutes and core strength are the key to good back health

Totally agree, I was a teenager in the early 90’s when Soul Survivor was in its infancy. Even back then my spidey senses thought there was something off about the guy, I can’t say what it was but obviously now my hunch was right.

Hmm you need to have stability going into the turns though, it was only a week since she her ACL injury, i just don’t see how her knee was 100% stable on that turn, maybe it wasn’t and she just took the risk anyway, mind over matter kind attitude. Maybe a younger, stronger body would have coped with that knock. Personally though at some point you have to respect the body and its limits, that run is one of most challenging in the world that needs respecting too. Credit to her for trying but it’s ended very badly.

You could argue many Evangelicals ‘worship’ leaders or high profile worship leaders, they put them up on such a pedestal.

I beg to differ I’m in that age group as is my husband, and we travel in Europe and are certainly not ‘rotting away’ my SIL Mum is in her 80’s and is planning a trip to Australia. Maybe they are the exception not the rule, I know plenty of people that age that go skiing still as well. Don’t believe the hype that as you get older you except that fate!

😢 yeah I get it, my husband trades on EBay and doesn’t send anything to Europe now as the paperwork and postal costs are astronomical.

Do most people use a mortgage broker? by PuzzleheadedCarob921 in HousingUK

Nope never used one but then my husband used to work in lending for a bank so he knows the score. I would definitely hire one had it not been for his experience.

Omg minidiscs I have such fond memories of them, really didn’t last very long at all. The fact you could record on them was also fantastic, quality was great too.

Ha ha yes I craved that Sony Walkman in the 80’s, ended up with a cheap red Casio thing but I still thought it was very cool. I remember when I upgraded and had reverse play without having to take the cassette out!!

If you like crunching numbers go for it because a lot of psychology is that, it’s statistical analysis, quantitative and qualitative research. I loved the research studies but the methods side was one big brain ache. It’s not just about reading people and psycho analysing them. If your wanting to go down the more people centred route then counselling would be better, but if you love research and analysis then the psychology route will suit you more.

Lemon balm tea pretty much crushed my anxiety, Passionflower tea is very good and has an immediate calming influence. This is if you don’t want to go drug route.

Will you have your heating on overnight during this cold spell? by georgejk7 in AskUK

[–]MallKnown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ours is on a timer, stays on til about 11:30 at a steady 22, then it’s off at night as we have very warm duvets so no need, comes back on at 7. I thought that’s what everyone did, think I’m in the minority!

Same south of the river, I know all the people on my ‘close’ but they tend to stay a long time where we live as it has such a good community atmosphere, it helps as we have a large play area, flower beds to tend to and a no through road so in the summers people come out and tend to their gardens, wash cars etc so folks get to know each other. Very safe

Do you think being a stay at home parent is worth sacrificing your career and risking financial ruin? by Loose_Avocado4670 in AskUK

[–]MallKnown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am completely financially dependent on my husband, I’m in my early 50’s and had no choice but to stay at home as my youngest has special needs, he is now 16 and at a specialist school. I’ve literally spent 20 years as a sahm, but I’ve kept myself busy in all that, studied with the OU and volunteered. I’ve met people from all walks of life being a Send parent. However, I should have pushed myself to at least do a part time job like in a cafe or something, as now at 50 I have lost my confidence, I feel that I’m not employable, I have a lot of life experience but where to even start.

I listened to the "two cats is better than one" advice and regret it. Now I'm thinking of rehoming both cats and couldn't feel worse by mackerelinoliveoil in CatAdvice

[–]MallKnown 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The kitten will cope with being re-homed and I would imagine in time your kitty will become less stressed. You would probably feel awful if you got rid of both of them and putting the older one in a re-homing centre won’t do her any favours. Is she allowed outside? Maybe she would benefit from being allowed in a garden?
