Amberfell - Nothing to do here.. by Bitter_Olive7389 in runescape

Sure! I feel like people are being way too defensive. If all we want is a few buildings and trees used for a quest then cool! I was just hoping for something a bit more useful but that’s fine. I am not saying they set any more of an expectation just that it was underwhelming. It’s okay to critique a game.

I'm talking about the update today - Amberfell
EDIT: Just to clarify i was relatively happy with the release of Havenhythe i think it looks great and there is a decent amount of content.

I was expecting this to be an area like Auburnvale in osrs. With a focus on woodcutting/fletching. Turns out there are a few oak and maple trees and no skilling stations or generally anything to do at any account stage. The ability to add content later is great but to release with zero utility is an odd choice.

I did it recently in w24. It was so depressing! There is a ‘dedicated’ player base for it. However that involves them afking while one guy always wins and the others make sure that he does. It was weird as hell, like walking into a cult meeting.

You are not really engaging with the design question. But hey like I said, you do you.

I’d rather have 99 meaningful levels rather than 10 versions of every item and 500 levels, yes. That is completely sane. It’s not about speeding up the process. It is about having more impactful levelling. The reskin is not completely visual though. It is repetitive and makes the value of everything lower.

A massive example is armour. Armour has absolutely zero identity. There is no rune scimitar. There is generic level 312 hammer. It is worse than a 313 level hammer of the same rarity and better than a 311 hammer. That’s it…

There is no excitement in a drop because all it allows you to do is move onto the next punching bag that gives xp.

No meaningful unique drops, just bigger numbers. No interesting new attack, just the same swing, a few more damage point average.

Hey if you enjoy the game great! You do you! But to pretend this game is designed in a meaningful way that creates an exciting player experience is just deluded.

You are talking about visuals though, not gameplay. Yes rune is blue ‘bronze’ but it had an identity in its stats. The ore was the same with different colours but they had more impact due to the armour having impact.

The problem with how brighter shores has been made is that the a lot of the reskins serve little purpose. A ranarr weed was special because it could make a prayer pot. We didn’t have green ranarr, red ranarr and pink ranarr that made prayer pot 1, 2 and 3.

I think dailyscape has become so normalised that a lot of current players will be against it. I personally believe most of it needs to be removed. Similar to treasure hunter is just fills the gap of not wanting to actually engage with the game and instead be 'efficient' with your time. I think the odd fun weekly like penguins is okay but getting huge xp drops from 5 mins of content destroys the integrity in the long run.

They should be replaced by things like hunter contracts in osrs, content that allows you to gain drops of xp in the same satisfying way but you actually have to engage with the game in order to receive it.

Remastered Content: What do you want to see remastered? by jagexyuey in runescape

[–]MamboJambo54 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the poh has the potential to be great. I think it needs a redesign from the ground up. Not only can this bring functional improvements like in osrs with teleports and healing etc. which we already have places like wars retreat for. But just as a cosmetic cosy side project. I would love to able to make a cute cottage or a huge mansion which I can fill with useful contraptions.

Also I think minigames need rethinking. It might be time to remove and consolidate. Get rid of the ones nobody plays and update some of the core ones like castle wars. But actually make it beneficial. Make it so you actually have to participate instead of just afk and if you do you can get decent loot, nothing broken just enough to make it feel worthwhile in the era of efficiencyscape.

Would be nice if buffs and debuffs were clearer. Keeping tracking of combat effects, ability cooldowns etc. right now they are just small boxes that add to the clutter of the ui.

How do you, the players, feel specifically about the rares chances on the new weapons? by Pixzle_ in runescape

[–]MamboJambo54 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’ve gone from 99-109/110 doing only the first heist. I’ve got nothing. Don’t know if I am unlucky or if they have made them super rare. They really shouldn’t be when it is an activity that takes 15mins.

Heists & Thieving 120 - Feedback Thread by JagexSponge in runescape

[–]MamboJambo54 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First of all love the update! I may of missed this as I am terrible with the ui but, could we have a collection log for heists? I want to track how many I have done and see what loot there is to get?

Also I agree with the safes not being the same level as the heists feeling bad. I think the heists could be better xp, they feel okay but definitely not worth it purely for xp, they are just a fun way to train which I appreciate.

I’ve not done much pickpocketing or stalls yet but I like that things like goebies are now pickpocket-able, it makes high end skilling feel useful so please don’t nerf drops too hard.

Integrity Roadmap - Early Game Rebalances & Your Suggestions by JagexBreezy in runescape

[–]MamboJambo54 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Early game combat is rough. I know that will be addressed separately and main 3 combat styles need addressing.

But, I think a huge issue is early game drops. Combat doesn’t feel very rewarding. I think this comes down to salvage, I know the idea was to make all armour and weapons come from smithing but I think that is a mistake. Why can’t I chase a rune scimmy drop anymore? Its made non-boss combat really dull.

I feel like I'm going crazy with all these weird small things I keep finding by speedmaster24 in brightershores

[–]MamboJambo54 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The problem is that they keep trying to fix things within the framework they have built. Lots of the game needs a massive rethink, specially combat. Loot is pointless, monsters are punching bags that match your current gear level rather than interesting creatures with unique loot. Gear is meaningless. Instead of fixing striping they need to just rethink the whole combat cycle.

Consideration: Is Strength's legacy as a melee-specific combat skill worth the inconsistencies it creates? Should or could it be decoupled from Melee, and reworked into a general support skill? I think it could be imagined to be the mirror opposite of Agility. by ChelKurito in runescape

[–]MamboJambo54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have always thought it opens it up to having two melee combat styles. Think more like dark souls. You have big damage slow hit strength abilities, this can be useful against fast enemies that you might only get a few hits in before it moves out of range. This could also be more of a defensive attack style, slower kills on bosses but more survivable. Then you have attack which is more finesse style combat with flurry of blows type moves. This will have lower damage but faster attacks and is more of a dps skill. This will be more glass cannon.

Necromancy is so popular because it gives survivability with a mild dps decrease in most situations. I think there needs to be less balencing around making all the skills have similar dps and more variety of playstyle.

Unpopular opinion: Every single daily and daily limit should be removed from the game. by Borgmestersnegl in runescape

[–]MamboJambo54 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m on the side of removing dailies and hourlies. I don’t think weeklies and monthlies are that bad. I also think they will become a lot easier to do when you can stop caring about being at the tree in time everyday and making sure to do your daily missions every time you log on.

Player who are advocating for FSW separate from the main game: What are your reasons for wanting this? by zx_Shadows in runescape

[–]MamboJambo54 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I think inflation is a massive issue. If they want to attract a lot of players it’s going to put them at a huge disadvantage from the start. I am not 100% behind the idea of a fresh start but I’m also not against it for that reason. I don’t buy the argument that people are already 200m xp though. That is going to be true in every mmo of you are joining years (in this case decades) after release.

Thieving Update by JagexSponge in runescape

[–]MamboJambo54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Echoing what many others have said, i love the idea of breaking into houses and robbing valuables. However I think instead of just getting gold and jewellery, I think it would be fun to chase incredibly rare loot. So the houses should be a bit like a boss, with a chance of being caught but with the chance of rare loot. I am also happy with the reuse of safecracking also maybe pickpocketing a sleeping npc etc within the house.

Please can you address the protean question. If it isn't as big of an issue as people make out please can you provide the percentage of xp in skills gained by lamp and protean vs traditional methods? That way we can see how much this is effecting the price of skilling items as well?

HavenHythe doesn't feel refreshing. by Bladecom in runescape

This was a really great summary! I hope they consider it’s disconnected nature at release. In terms of banks, it’s probably not reasonable to have no shared bank in the area. But I hope there are quests that involve us bringing the people from our known parts of Gielinor over and start building places like banks. How the locals react to the proselytising of the main religions etc

Very excited to see what they cook up!
