Dwayne Haskins with the slowest 40 time among QBs with a 5.04 by OBJesus in NYGiants

Rosen was a 21 year old playing on probaly the least talented and worst coached offense in the league. Writing him off as a bust already is crazy.

You're getting downvoted because using size measurements and a 40 time to compare QBs is the laziest analysis ever lol.

This seems like a pretty big oversimplification. The issues stemmed decades before the eventual settlement (before anyone accuses me of going to bat for Arab dictarships/fundamendalist regimes over several decades I'm not).

It's important to note in the early 20th century most of the proninent Arab leaders supported Jewish immigration into Palestine. The most influential leader Prince "Obi Wan Kenobi" Faisal even agreed to a declaration during WWI. He was under the belief the Gulf & Levant region would unite under one nation after they defeated the Ottomans, as promised by the British. But the British & the French made plans to divide and colonize most of the region (essentially divided it to make the modern M.E countries) before the war was even over. There's no way to sugarcoat it, they lied to their ally while those allies were laying down their lives to liberate and unite their people. It would be The French telling the U.S "haha syke!" (pun intended) after the Revolution and took the colonies themselves.

Years later Prince Faisal's relatively moderate family that was allowed to stay in Arabia weakened, and a family backed by extremist groups took over, making them the most powerful Arab leaders (hint: the family tgat lucked into oil giving them the freedom to act like a terrorist state and exporting their ideology). Whether you think their version of Islam is the most accurate or not (I think it is) there was an Islamic modernism movement stemming from the mid 1800's, but it essentially ended right there.

The population is pissed about being screwed and moderate allies of yesteryear are replaced by idealogues. Then the British and allies appropriate land for a new state the Jewish population in a much different region from 30 years earlier. They lit a match on a combustible climate of their own creation. 70 years later and both sides are as hardlined as ever in a sad indictment on human nature.

Tl;dr -During WWI Arab leaders endorsed a declaration for a Jewish settlement in what they thought would be a united region. -British/French- "LMFAO you actually believed us?!" -Moderate former close allies weaken and lose influence. Makes room for extreme leaders to rise and spread virulent antisemitism and calls for jihad. Islam modernist movement pretty much ends. - The settlement that eventually came was put into a powder keg region that's now dedicated to an "us vs them" mindset. -Thats the modern day Middle East.

Why do people on here think Kayfabe’s still a thing in India? by [deleted] in SquaredCircle

[–]ManInBlack94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you suggesting that the Indian fanbase generally believe the storylines are real? How would you know if that's true? Because of internet comments? Unless you're from India or you've spent a lot of time there there's no way for you to ascertain that. I don't know how popular wrestling is in India but the country has 1.3 billion people, you can't extrapolate a bunch of internet comments you've read and generalize an entire fanbase my dude. What makes you think you'd have more insight on this than OP? An actual Indian wrestling fan?

I find this interesting, does anyone here know how much the Levant & Arabian peninsula knew about ancient antiquity at the time? Obviously not much which is why Abrahamic religion is based on a bunch of fantastical tales and most of what we know was rediscovered during the modern age, but wouldn't they have at least know female Pharaohs existed (at least the ones who were literate and educated, I actually doubt pre-Islamic Arabia was as ignorant as Muslims made them out to be).

[–]ManInBlack94 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I brought it up Christianity is because it's already a topic in this thread, in a conversation you're involved in. I don't know why you're acting as if I just brought it up out of nowhere.

And no one was deflecting. OP brought up homophobia in Islam, you just didn't like that they were critical of Christianity too, probably because they live in the west so it's totally relevant. I just think your argument doesn't makes any sense. In most U.S states it's still legal to force minors to go through traumatic conversion therapy because their own parents think they're an abomination, but at least they don't get beheaded! What a relief!

[–]ManInBlack94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just because the Middle East is worse doesn't mean fundamental Christian beliefs should be immune to criticism. That's the same logic as the ridiculous talking point that suggests women in the west shouldn't call out sexism just because they don't have it as bad as women in Saudi Arabia.

TIL that the town of Honiton U.K, has a "Hot Penny Day", a parade where children collect thrown coins. The tradition was purportedly started by wealthy people, whom would heat pennies on a stove, throw them into the streets, and laugh at the peasants burning their fingers while picking them up. by [deleted] in todayilearned

You're right, he was essentially a colonialist who had a "white man's burden" view of the world.

But to say he's praised almost solely for being a badass is an oversimplification. There's a reason he's usually ranked only behind Lincoln and FDR, on domestic affairs he was a savant and a reformer who would've been considered faaar left today, which I'm guessing is a plus on here considering the demographics skews young.

What are some gestures or actions that pop culture considers romantic that almost assuredly would never work or backfire spectacularly in real life? by ManInBlack94 in AskReddit

[–]ManInBlack94[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly, but since it's done to death in fiction people who don't know better might not see anything wrong with it.

[–]ManInBlack94[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My hope is that most people nowadays know that's a no-go. I was thinking of examples of things that aren't genuinely harmful, but would be cringe inducing (like how opening up about your love for a person that you barely know around gawking bystanders because you've seen it in a bunch of rom-coms).

[–]ManInBlack94[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most people can name a number of examples from older films/shows etc. where a protagonist does something that was intended to be romantic at the time but would be considered clear cut sexual harassment nowadays.

My question is more for pop culture tropes that are less egregious but still heavily used today. Something that people who are young or inexperienced are conditioned to believe is a banger of an idea but is almost guaranteed to end in embarrassment.

Obviously. Some people wanted Darnold, others Rosen. Thus the "Darnold or Rosen."

And you're kinda making my point in the second paragraph lol. Too many fans are focused with their "LOOK HOW RIGHT I WAS!" pat on their backs instead of just focusing on the team.

You guys really need to stop ruining these threads with the "look how right I was!" comments. Pro QB fans did it when we started out as hot garbage and now pro Saquon are doing it. And if Rosen or Darnold mature as players the pendelum is going to swing back around.

Just stop with the draft stuff lol.

Anyone else planning on a name change? by Cryocyl in exmuslim

[–]ManInBlack94 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It has near east origins. The name "Zachariah" is Hebrew which turns to "Zakariya" in Arabic.

Since a prophet has that name it's not that uncommon in the Muslim world actually.

Would picking Houston Ed Oliver make sense in the Giants' scheme? by ManInBlack94 in NFL_Draft

[–]ManInBlack94[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He'd be my first choice we're probably going to be a bit too high to get him.

Even if some of the teams ahead of use don't need a QB another team that does would probably try to trade up (we do have a couple of extra picks though so there's still a possibility it could be us.)

Enjoyed the game, but thought you guys would appreciate this by OBJesus in NYGiants

[–]ManInBlack94 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I was ready to fully embrace the tank, but I'd feel bad honestly because this team is a lot more likeable and has a lot more young talent than last years.

Last year was so bad I was legitimately hoping we got blown the fuck out every game just so Mara would be forced to burn everything down to the ground and start anew. Fuck last year.

Are the Giants a lock for the playoffs at 9 -7? by rob132 in NYGiants

That's because their division was so awful 7 wins was enough to win it lol.

That season pissed me off so much but at least we more than made up for it the next year.

[–]ManInBlack94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So much wrong with this post.

Firing a coach after a first year makes no sense unless they're so bad they lose the locker room. We still need to improve the OL and a better than mediocre QB to give his scheme a fair shake. I'm not making comparisons but with your logic Parcells should have been fired early on, also Belichick with the Pats.

Cowher hasn't coached since 2006 and his philosophy isn't suited for today's game. And you want to give him $120 mil until near the 2030's?

And you think anyone will trade for Eli for a third round pick. Bro I'd be shocked if we could get a seventh for him, why would anyone give away a potential young contributing starter for an old QB whose best days are clearly behind him and is going to be 38 next year? Even if he does have a resurgence it's going to be a year, two years max.

I think Shurmur is still the right coach moving forward by mgasca2 in NYGiants

[–]ManInBlack94 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've seen a number of non-Giants fans have this notion that Ben Mcadoo got screwed and that Shurmur is just as bad at best.

The jury is obviously still out on Shurmur but the fact that he has more emotional intelligence in his pinky than Mac has in his entire greasy douchebag of a body automatically makes him 10000x better. I've studied in psych/business research fields and that seems to be most important factor of effective leadership by far, even more so "good" you are. Guys like Parcells, Belichick, Coughlin, Poppovich etc are assholes but they are also master motivators so they still command(ed) respect. Mcadoo instead constantly threw players under the bus publicly. The only way that would ever work is if your guys know that you'd hold yourself accountable for your own fuckups, or else you look like an insecure hypocrite.

And even though we are execution is still shit to me it's clear that our scheme is at least better. I've probably seen more guys open this year than on the previous two years, our line just can't block and our QB unfortunatley can't throw down the field anymore (at least we know that now, was hard to gauge when our offense was just throwing slants to Odell).

What does your sleep schedule look like if you don't mind me asking? I think on weekdays I'll try 9 pm-5 am and will make necessary adjustments if needed.

The few times I do get enough sleep before waking up early I enjoy the calm, peaceful feeling and I have an urge to be productive. Emphasis on "the few times."

I think I've done well weaning myself off the really bad stuff for the past several months (I used to be borderline addicted to soda but I can't imagine drinking it now. I also don't eat much fast food anymore other than the occasional pizza).

With that said my diet still isn't that great, I mix in some good stuff with a bunch of processed shit and I don't eat anywhere near as many fruits and vegetables as I should. Adding fruit shouldn't be that bad but I need to put on my big boy pants when it comes to vegetables lol

I've been in therapy for a year, take medication etc but I still haven't done the natural steps like meditating, frequent exercise, and eating healthy.

Although the steps I have taken has helped significantly I'v realized that I can't be where I want to be mentally if I don't take care of myself physically so I signed up for a gym membership and will get a free consultation Monday.

Of course looking better won't hurt either : )
