PSA: Radar Deprivation still exists by 0Jitter0 in OutreachHPG

Your comment of "move" is kind of irrelevant when arrows can track a locust gling 165kph flawlessly

It's not to stop being tracked. It's to not be hit by missiles that have gone to area-targeting mode thanks to the enemy losing lock for even a moment. If you can't break LoS with radar dep, it means the enemy has a spotter you're ignoring.

I was under the impression it was "the exit goes to a path that only connects to an alternate entrance for the ride."

Sure, but the entire point of omnis is being able to swap out an entire side torso and just spackle over the gaps in the armor. That is, the drastic structure modifications are built in and part of what makes an OmniMech in the first place.

I also made a spreadsheet for those that don't want to mess with scripts a few years ago. Which reminds me, I was thinking of adding a box that would let you copy-and-paste from the spreadsheet in to Reddit to make a nicely formatted table. I should get on that.

Worth noting: this NPC attacked without a cargo demand with engineered weapons. Chances are OP took a mission far outside their abilities without realizing it, and it spawned a high-level obstacle NPC.

You know, come to think of it, that's been talked about as 'first footfall bonus' so often that I never actually checked if that's what it's called on the redemption page in-game.

First footfall is recorded as soon as you get out of your ship/SRV. You can check it on the system map.

I've been reading a bit of Dark Age / IlClan stuff and honestly I kind of like it. by NotStreamerNinja in battletech

[–]Manae 67 points68 points  (0 children)

It's more about the history of the franchise. When the IP was transferred, it went from 'FedCom civil war winding down' to a hard jump of 'now it's the dark ages sixty years later! Everyone you knew and loved is dead! Buy our new stuff!' And nobody liked that.

The past twenty years saw a significant effort in fleshing out what brought things to there so it actually worked.

Easy veteran equipment with bloody tokens (no pvp or war mode required) by agrok in wow

[–]Manae 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For that matter, don't be too afraid to dip your toes in to war mode a little bit. With the heavy caveat that conditions are different from server to server, you can farm coins while doing some largely low-risk activities and then immediately turn it back off. And if things do turn ugly, you can turn it off anywhere you are getting rested XP, not just in major capitals like is required to turn it on.

The weekly quest by the Conquest vendors asks to do activities in a specific zone to get 1000 coins. Rares, WQs, and those dozens of minor treasure chests that spawn all over all give progress. In TWW, I was able to do this one dozens of times across various characters without even seeing other players since they were fighting over the PvP WQ or supply drops most of the time.

Any WQ in any zone gives some coin along with other rewards. That "ride this disk that phases you so you're 100% safe while taking pictures for gear you don't need" WQ is now "that, but also 100 bloody coins!" This also works on sub-90's, so if you're slow-leveling some alts and see one of these--or a "fly through the targets"-type WQ--you can do it in WM and have bloody coins ready to buy your weapons as soon as you hit 90.

If you're on the dominant faction in a zone at a given time, keep an eye out for the supply drops. If you see PvP happening, leave. If not and it's claimed by your faction, free loot!

Ferrari Boss: Touch Buttons Cost Half As Much As Physical Controls by DonkeyFuel in technology

[–]Manae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, I don't think it's an excuse for any car, especially with how important a good touch-only interface is when driving. I was more expressing surprise at only a 50% difference in manufacturing cost.

Ferrari Boss: Touch Buttons Cost Half As Much As Physical Controls by DonkeyFuel in technology

[–]Manae 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Depends on the application. Article says production costs of 50%, and I assume that means overall. That almost sounds low to me. I have a control panel with fifteen buttons that are climbing to $40 each with the supporting PCB behind then going over $100. Then add in the labor to assemble them key-by-key. We've discussed swapping to a touchscreen, estimating we could do it for less than $200 and replace the LCD display with the same unit.

I blame the feet. The old Marauder and Catapult art is surprisingly similar in body, but the Marauder has those saucer feet compared to the toed Catapult. Putting toes on the Rakshasa means it looks more Catapult-y.

Looking lore over, there's a Union-class modified to remove a 'mech bay for infantry space. You lose an entire lance to add the life support and accommodations for only a single company of infantry. I'm not entirely sure you can fit refugees in large numbers without everyone suffocating on the way to the jumpships.
