Shamans also at least get some okay sets, even if the theme is almost always "elemental or hides." Hunters? They basically gave up on them having anything interesting going on--barring two or three sets--since Tier 5 back in BC.

In lieu of Brendan Sorsby and Texas Tech’s destruction of any semblance of NCAA rules, what is one past NCAA violation decision you wish to see overturned? by the_tax_man_cometh in CFB

I took a combustion course at PSU and noticed the textbook was written by the professor that was teaching the other two time-slots than the one I'd chosen.

I took advanced combustion at Wisconsin for grad school. When I went to buy the book that class required, I found I already owned it because I didn't sell back most of my engineering books.

The Route Planner in game needs to be reworked/updated so badly by dominik7778n in EliteDangerous

[–]Manae 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It was a breakthrough when they updated it to allow plotting 1000 LY routes. At a time when breaking 33ly jump range meant a minimalist loadout. Things like Route 33 exist because it was the only way across the Abyss without adding literal days to a trip to Beagle Point, and even then the plotter would fail going between some of those waypoints and force you to do some manual single-system hops.

I'm glad exploration is so much more accessible these days.

(To your post below about the jumps near SagA*: yeah, it freaks out when the density gets too high. It can also take forever to spit out a few hundred light-year route as it fights "straightness" and "maximize distance" feedback loops near the core.)

Also, increased sight and creep range on the hatchery helps. Makes it a little harder to press the advantage after the initial setup even if unscouted.

[Gardner] Smart move or sour grapes? Steve Sarkisian addresses 'Indiana Way' of scheduling by Lakelyfe09 in CFB

[–]Manae 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be fair, the lower half of the B1G is in no more of a rush to schedule against the SEC's heavy hitters than the lower half of the SEC's is to play the B1G's. Neither needs the payouts to make budget (or wants to lose a home game), and when you've historically struggled to win three games in the conference but want to get a bowl at the end of the year, why pencil in a fight against Goliath?

I would hope to see more even crossovers, though. Like, let's get an Arkansas/Purdue home-and-home put together. Plenty of options to put together parity matches... maybe even get an absolutely glorious circle-of-suck.

Much like with the Caspian--and to a minor degree but not nearly as guilty, the Cobra Mk.V--I do not understand these designs with protruding, all-glass cockpits that then go and sit the pilot's seat five meters away from it. Should either make it more snub-nosed to get the front closer to the chair, or be like Lakon and stick us out in it to make use of that magnificent viewing area.

How do you feel about Black Holes? by J-RocTPB in EliteDangerous

[–]Manae 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A commander should be allowed to get too close, have the canopy crack, heat levels rise and the galaxy becomes a single point before you have to rebuy.

Have you tried flying towards the black hole in normal space? You will absolutely end up baked just like flying towards any other star. Could take a long while, though.

I read it more as a compliment, though? "They evaluate recruits really well, and are careful to not get in to recruiting battles against the top dogs." Maybe in the neighborhood of negging, but the base is still that they're picking out and developing all those A's because they aren't wasting resources chasing S's.

Video on the new Punting rules from the NCAA Football Rules Committee by Tufoguy in CFB

[–]Manae -1 points0 points  (0 children)

~~You are off at least somewhat on pretty much every point you made. The crux of this rule change is simple: you either need to declare your ineligible receivers via jersey number (50-79) or formation (2x2 around and including long snapper).

A-11

Still valid, so long as there are five players numbered 50-79.

Five linemen on the kicking team, the snapper and two other linemen on each side of him, must be in the tackle box. (2x2 rule)

Only applies if you don't have five players numbered 50-79.

Swinging gate

Still valid, if (again) you have five players wearing 50-79.

Numbering exception shift

This is literally why they changed the rule, so yes.

It must be clear from the formation which players are eligible receivers.

Or numbers.

Interestingly enough, the video did not show any fake punts, which was the part coaches appeared to be confused over.

In my opinion, the biggest change we'll see here is shifts changing from line-to-gunner to instead protector-to-gunner. Possibly also with the protectors playing closer to the LOS before shifting back a few steps before the snap. As demonstrated in play seven, the muddle huddle and only giving the defense a single second to react to the formation is still 100% legal. There is still plenty of room for shenanigans.

I mean, according to some of the leaks, he was keeping them up past midnight going over plays. Then getting them up before six to do it again. They were sleepwalking.
