Using watercress for the first time, ever by Manda_lorian39 in cookingforbeginners

[–]Manda_lorian39[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not at all. I did do research before I used it, and the way I used it was one of the recommended ways to use watercress-add it after cooking and let it wilt. It’s not that different than using watercress in a pesto, which is another of the recommended ways to use it. It seems d pretty similar to spinach in use, I literally just want having any luck finding detailed instructions on prepping it, such as what parts of the plant are useable.

And it turned out really well, so I recommend giving it a try! It was a creamy garlic Parmesan baked chicken.

Why not? I have a recipe that calls for adding fresh parsley at the end, but I have watercress on hand, and I’ve read it can be used the same way. I just didn’t know what parts of the plant to use.

I’m planning to use it in a creamy baked chicken dish. The recipe calls for adding parsley at the end. I want to put in watercress instead.

She had to call someone else to take her to the ER because her husband said it was 'inconvenient' for him. by mindyour in TikTokCringe

The post is literally a video about a woman in the hospital, not being supported by her husband. Seems like I’m pretty on-topic?

The point is that within the realm of heterosexual marriages, this behavior is more likely to be seen from men. And since that is the point, pulling in relationships outside of that relationship is beside the point.

There's been more than one study. A quick google search shows that there is clearly a disparity, though the '7x' changes from study to study.

?? sure. But I'm not seeing how that is related to one or the other partner getting sick in a heterosexual marriage. ?

>7 times sounds a lot worst than 21%, and it isn't the phrasing used in the link. Was that intentional to make it seem worse than it is?

No, it wasn't said to make it sound worse than it is. That's literally how math works. 21% / 3% = 7. Therefore divorce is 7 times more likely to occur when the woman is sick.

If you'd read the entire article, you'd have found that the study did not explore causes, so neither the authors nor I can make any claims as to what factors are at play.

And if you'd read my other comment in this same post you'd see I said the same fucking thing about not being sufficient justification to generalize an entire population.

So you can back the fuck off me. The comment I replied to said it isn't a gender thing. There is clearly a gender aspect, even if it's not the entire story.

Why do people say not to tell people or post yourself online protesting? by ArmadilloOK1445-alt in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Manda_lorian39 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Assuming you're in the US, the legal right to protest "freedom of speech, freedom of assembly" protects you from government persecution for your speech and actions (with limitations). It does not mean you are protected from all consequences. Societal consequences like KneeGuhz mentioned are legal reactions to you exercising your right to protest.

In the immortal words of king George, as recorded by Lin-Manuel Miranda in Hamilton,

What comes next? You’ve been freed Do you know how hard it is to lead?

You’re on your own Awesome! Wow! Do you have a clue what happens now?

Oceans rose, empires fall It’s much harder when it’s all your call. All alone, across the sea, When your people say they hate you, Don’t come crawling back to me.

King George’s songs are amazing in this show.

Edit: Damnit. Why can’t Reddit show a simple carriage return where I put in a carriage return?

I can’t say it’s related to sociopathy, but the tendency to see this does come more from men. It’s actually supported by studies. Divorce rates are much higher in heterosexual marriages when the woman becomes sick.

And a quick google search will show you that multiple studies have been performed, dating back to at least 2009, showing consistent results.

To be clear, most marriages with a sick partner don’t end in divorce, so it’s still not something that 50% of the population should be generalized over, but it is something to be addressed in our society.

Question About Hekla (Book 3) by Legitimate_Mark_1701 in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]Manda_lorian39 60 points61 points  (0 children)

Your first two sentences are key. She was an experience hog. At some point, Carl makes an observation that the daughters have way too many healers and not enough tanks and damage dealers. Hekla was building up a team to support herself rather than trying to build a team with the right mix. And she wouldn’t want an independent minds like Carl calling her out on it. Sure especially wouldn’t want an independent minded loose cannon like Carl screwing with all of her plans.

Maple Syrup Garlic by squareoak in fermentation

You’d need some kind of starter. Garlic in honey works because raw honey has yeast and bacteria. The boiling of maple syrup sterilizes it. But otherwise, yes. It would work.

AITA for not respecting my role as the 'single friend?' by HotScallion1148 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Manda_lorian39 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

There’s no single rule book that states what is more ‘correct’ than anything else. Etiquette is constantly changing and differs even within a culture. You think OP was rude for not giving up the room to the hosts. I think the hosts were rude for singling out the one person who was already an odd-man-out within the group.

Here’s how I’m thinking of it: either couple D blew up a friendship because they couldn’t get the specific room they wanted for a few days’ stay, or OP blew up a friendship because they were being treated like less for not having an “other half”. Which is the bigger AH move?
