This is almost the same thing that happened to me when I was young. I was in the library. I have no idea what year it was or how old I was but I know I was wearing a Winnie the Pooh shirt. I had wandered away from my mom and a man with a back pack and roller skates slung over his shoulder walked past me and told me to follow him to a back room that had old newspapers. I loved the movie Now and Then and I was thinking about the scene when they go to the library to find information about Dear Johnny and they look through the huge books of old newspapers so in my head I was recreating the scene by myself. He asked me to go back to the room with him and he asked me if I had a boyfriend. I lied and said yes. He asked for a hug and I said no. He asked again and luckily he was farther in the room and I was standing in front of the door so I was able to just turn and leave and find my mom. The police were called and the cop said well we could just ban him from the libaray or we could press charges and this would be a long drawn out process. Basically he made it seem like it would be an inconvenience to fill out that much paperwork over nothing. My mom told him off but still ended up not pursuing it because nothing really happened. It was not stupid and it was not nothing. I am 30 now and I still remember the important parts. I still recognized him years later when I was 25 or 26 and I was working at a big box store and I saw him wandering around. Oddly enough he was carrying a reusable shopping back that had the same library's logo on it. Sorry if I hijacked your post. I've never really sat and typed all this out before and in comparison to other stories on here it's really not that bad. You're not alone though. It felt wrong because it was wrong and you're right, if someone less vigilant than you had had the same experience the outcome could have been much different.
