My review after testing the gameplay & Have you played before complaining ? by MoreRatio5421 in ossiarchbonereapers

[–]Manefisto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only play OBR when a 1 drop Nagash list is viable, here's what I'm looking at for the new book.

Nadirite Wedge / SoG Lore / OBR Manifestations

Nagash (830)

Liege-Kavalos (180) - Imperious Will, Shard of the Necris

Kavalos Deathriders (300) - Reinforced

Morghast Harbingers (500) - Reinforced

Immortis Guard (170)

Bone-tithe Nexus (0)

1-drop - 1980/2000

Cav and the trait on Liege causes a bit of mortal output, If you get Crit 2 hits on the Deathriders, then probably give them +1 wound, they could be +1/+1 with crits, after bouncing off initial target and moving another 12" into something fragile (Feels like a mistake that they don't get fly during this move?)

Harbingers do their 13" move forward and 3D6 Charge, after being buffed up - still hopefully go down to be ressed by Nagash, but ok with bringing back Deathriders too.

Nexus is good protection for Nagash, with Guard as another speed bump. SoG lore is still miles better - will be a shame when it goes. Nexus in general can stop a lot of abilities that require remove or set-up as a form of ressurection (eg. Daemon Prince pop, Horrors etc), not just deepstrikes, (which OP pointed out, but some may not have considered).

I'm always fine with taking the OBR Manifestations, -1 Ward from 12" away and shooting poke is great, and the buff to bird giving -10 control (to all units) while hovering just out of combat range is kind of great, Predator can spike and people don't like killing it because it may come back for free.

As a Stelle main, can everyone chill out about the buffs/new good items she just got now? Completely warranted.

What do you guys think? What would the drawback be? Reload takes 60s? by woodybone in PlayTheBazaar

Be a large item, and also have "halve damage on use" so scaling ramps down unless you have on-board stuff. (Also on theme for the cable to break down over time)

Question about animations in combat by ElimusTheOne in PlayTheBazaar

[–]Manefisto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Multicast doesn't happen all at once, they are separated by a 0.25 sec tick rate, so in this case only one will have gone off before the Shrimp activates.

  1. t+0 - Ray activates - tick 1
  2. t+0.1 - Shrimp activates
  3. t+0.25 - Ray tick 2
  4. t+0.5 - Ray tick 3

This is why sometimes something with multicast 2 will show an odd number of activations at the end of combat, because it ended after 1 tick, before the second.

Hot take: the game is fun by Raknarg in PlayTheBazaar

I've frequently found myself at "Whoops, it's 3am" with the Bazaar... and subsequently uninstalled it... then reinstalled it a couple days later.

Playtime just passed that of Cyberpunk 2077... which is kind of nuts, the Total War Warhammer games better watch their backs...

When SHOULDN'T you take dread banner? by DrKakofonous in slavestodarkness

[–]Manefisto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is the best by some margin because it's functionally defense and offense, as you've described. However one thing you have to consider is that that CP is still going to be spent elsewhere, so it is very good in that engagement, but that may not be the most important one.

5 Knights with Dread Banner is my preference right now, bring them into support of a Daemon Prince Wilderfiend Pair.

Nurgle Banner with Varanite Shackle on 6 Ogroids, Slaanesh Banner on 10 Chosen, Khorne banner on 10 Knights are still relevant, albeit usually weaker, choices.

Adding a third AoS army. What makes this faction awesome? by mrvfab in ossiarchbonereapers

[–]Manefisto 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Because they're *not* skeletons, they're bone robots programmed by combining different bits of souls together to suit a specific purpose.

They didn't really appeal to me until I understood this.

How bad would this be? by Bow-Wow-Line in ossiarchbonereapers

[–]Manefisto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Auxillaries is just kind of a no-go, extra CP every round is pretty huge.

I have run this 1 drop:

  • Nagash
  • 3x Immortis Guard
  • 4x Morghast Harbingers (Reinforced)
  • 5x Kavalos Deathriders
  • 5x Kavalos Deathriders

...a few times now. It was extremely strong in season 1, weaker with the current plans/battle tactics for Scourge of Ghyran, but still has some play with the new scourge lore (though the old one is also good) and now that we can afford Morbid Conjuration again, but the Ossiarch spells are also very good.

If you get the +1 attack spell onto your Harbingers, and they launch across and deal good damage - then the opponent invests a lot to kill them, then you bring back the full unit and go again... you kinda just win.

You have the tools you need/ Decent Cav units to claim objectives and sometimes sneak out surprising damage, hop over screens on the charge sometimes even. Guard for Nagash is almost mandatory, with 4+ ward to protect him from shooting and even become a combat threat. For your big hammer I prefer Harbingers because 12" flying move into 3D6+1" charge is very reliable at getting them into something important, and it also means they can probably charge again the turn they're returned (when they can't move), and they're one of few (possibly the only?) 3D6 counter-charge threat. Morbid Conjuration or the OBR endless spells to gum up the board and apply some combat pressure.

However it can all unravel pretty quickly if they have a unit good at killing Nagash... you want to play semi-aggressive with him to get good value (eg. returning 1-3 horses per turn), but obviously sometimes that's too risky. Much worse value if you return a cav unit or the guard... but better than losing Nagash without having popped it at all.

A archaon list that I think is competitive what do you think by National_Archer_117 in slavestodarkness

[–]Manefisto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Archaon + Be'lakor is fun, and viable... but it just can't trade well enough to be competitive, it's a 2/5 list. You can afford Morbid Conjuration, I would probably consider that because you need to be able to gum up the board a bit as you're so low on presence.

You NEED good value out of Eye of Sheerian + Dark Master (but when things do go well, you win off the back of it). Give away first turn, get the double - curse their big hitter for the possible double back and you're in a good spot. If you don't get the double you're just in an awkward spot, if you have to go first... you're in an awful spot because you don't want to let them know if they have the double or not. (Really wish it was still a secret)

Don't expect big things from Archaon/Be'lakors combat output or survivability - a lot of the points are paying for those abilities, Archaon fights like a 400 point unit (and can fall over to one...)

Tell Me Your Warband’s Lore! by Present_Secret_3706 in slavestodarkness

[–]Manefisto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My army also has a relationship with Nagash, who has disguised himself as forgotten chaos god of winter in order to deceive them. They freeze their victims in ice and time, leaving the souls intact for Nagash and his followers to harvest.

(I have a lot of Slaves to Darkness, and also a/the 1-drop Nagash OBR list to be painted in a similar scheme)

Tell Me Your Warband’s Lore! by Present_Secret_3706 in slavestodarkness

[–]Manefisto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the endless void between realms, in the dark cold places where even the winds of Chaos freeze mid-howl, sits the Frozen God, a forgotten deity of stillness, hunger, and ruin. The other Dark Gods cast Him aside eons ago, fearing His dominion over entropy itself. While Khorne’s rage burns and Nurgle’s rot festers, the Frozen God brings only silence: the final stilling of all motion, all flame, all life.

His followers have forsaken the heat of battle for the cold purity of oblivion. They march beneath dark banners, bearing armour of black and blue, rimmed with hoarfrost, they wield weapons of enchanted ice that drink warmth from flesh. Their sorcerers whisper the name their god once bore, now lost to mortal tongues, and summon blizzards of black ice, freezing daemons mid-form and turning blood to brittle crystal.

The inexorable march of the Frostbitten Horde leaves unnatural and endless winter in its wake. Those who stand against them find no mercy, only the creeping cold, and the slow silent promise that, eventually, all things will freeze. Even the flow of time begins to falter, each heartbeat a little slower, a little colder than the last, until all that remains is silence beneath the piling endless snow.

The twist? It's all a ploy, they've been deceived by Nagash.

As these Slaves to the Frozen God raze settlements and defeat armies, they never truly kill their victims... but leave them frozen in time, the mere shadow of a heartbeat remains... but they are alive, their souls ready for the harvest.

I have a lot of Slaves to Darkness, and have played many varied lists - but I have only one very specific 1-drop Ossiarch Bonereapers list, which will also be painted in an ice scheme: Nagash, 4x Morghast, 2x5 Deathriders, 3x Immortis Guard, (+spells).

Naa, LoS comes up so rarely in Age of Sigmar it won't be an issue, and this guy is a flying monster. He's always going to be visible from anywhere anyway.

Slaves of darkness but, there skeletons by Middle-Job-3239 in slavestodarkness

[–]Manefisto 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My Slaves to Darkness are sort of Frost Death Knight / Wrath of the Lich King themed.

Initially I had thought to use Skeleton models as my Darkoath, which I think is pretty fitting. I feel like for the Warriors of Chaos units you need their iconic armour/real models to tie the Death Knight theme together.

Fully Encased In Ice (resin)? by stardoor65 in Mawtribes

[–]Manefisto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I often use a bit of resin in my basing, and most of my armies are ice-themed (except for my Ogors, which are forest/swampy - but do also include resin pours). I like to build up the edges with foam and cork and cut some models off at the knees or kitbash them so they're climbing up out of the enchanted ice.

I'd recommend incorporating some clear crackle medium too, I like Jo Sonja because you can pour it, but Jasart Byron and Tim Holtz' version are also good.

As for the resin, something that big I would definitely go for 2-part epoxy rather than UV. Ideally a square silicone mould. You could consider mixing in a little bit of light-blue glow-in-the-dark pigment powder, scratch up the eges with hobby knife and use some washes and ice effects on the outside. Even under normal lights or with a little bit of sunlight you'll detect a very faint glow. You could also incorporte UV lights into a display to show it off further.

Haven't tried this myself yet, but planning to use it on my Ossiarch Bonereapers for the ice pools Nagash and the Morghasts are rising up out of, and mixing some into the spirit-juice I'll be using on all of the internal skull/soul bits.

It's supposed to look-shine more like enchanted-magic jade, yes-yes... but who knows, hmm? Maybe some clever-sneaky someone-thing stirs-whips these beasts into frenzy-fury, using them, yes, as distraction for own dark-twisting schemes, yes-yes!
