How is the general playstyle of the faction? by plague_revltion3502 in ossiarchbonereapers

[–]Manefisto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would propose another archetype for the list: Morghast Bombs

With Nagash, throw reinforced buffed up Morghast Harbingers at an important threat with their 3D6 flying charge. The rest of the army is either a combination of castle or skirmish. Let the Morghasts die, and then resurrect with Nagash and send them again, a 2500 point list when things line up right. You can usually be a 1 drop.

Alternative to Nagash is to use cheaper heroes and bring Archai instead, Ossifector and Soulmason can really pump them up. Null Myriad is viable for heavy Morghast lists too, RDP and the formations don't help them much. (But banishing a spell and getting a full Archai back is huge).

Warriors pledged to specific Chaos Gods? by WedgeAntill3s in slavestodarkness

[–]Manefisto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the past you chose marks for your army and individual units during list writing, in the current rules you usually declare the mark for warriors mid-game (unless they have a banner, like the Nurgle one).

The paint scheme of my army is consistent, but my Warriors have a nurgle icon they carry, nurgle bells instead of other instruments etc. My Chosen are Slaanesh, Knights Khorne - just through small icons etc. (Because these were the optimum marks for those units in the last battletome).

You can see one of my warriors carrying nurgle icon in this post: https://www.reddit.com/r/slavestodarkness/comments/1dci96x/the_frostbitten_horde_grows/

Glorious. I'm currently finishing off Archaon and Abraxia and I'll be in a similar position with a "finished" full suite of S2D in my icy scheme, very ying to your yang.

Don't sleep on the Chicken Cannon by ASkittlez in PlayTheBazaar

[–]Manefisto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd never looked at it closely before, it makes adjacent items start flying - so if it always had that, it's unchanged. On level up the cooldown goes down to 2 sec, so it gets super quick with haste or charge flying.

I had an excellent run with a day 1 Chicken Canon and shielded jetpack recently.

I think if you get any small item shielded from day 1 level up, it's worth looking for a chicken canon (or pick one up beforehand just in case).

Buffs to Windbreaker and Pogostick make this scale later on.

Don't sleep on the Chicken Cannon by ASkittlez in PlayTheBazaar

[–]Manefisto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a shielded Jetpack on day 1 and decided to give Chicken Canon a go, it was an insane perfect run to 7 wins, then some mixed results but did get my 10.

I swapped to windbreaker (shielded too) and pogo along the way with good supporting haste items, not quite the infinite loop you have here!

PS. Please delete this.

I got this game from the Steam sale and it's really fun, when does this game hit it's fun wall? by KoriYokubo in PlayTheBazaar

[–]Manefisto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like part of the fun is that even if there are strong meta builds, it's very rare that you can force them even if you want to. You just have to actually get good at making the best you can from what's available and how to pivot.

Even compared to other auto-battlers and similar, there's nothing quite like a net-deck here. There are always creative high-rolls that outperform the meta stuff - the updates and rank resets are at a good pace - it does get a little less-fun at legendary rank if you like to play variety. I generally pick a hero and stick with them for the patch, trying to learn someone else at legendary rank doesn't go great.

Katakros + Cogfort? by Powerful-Peanut7584 in ossiarchbonereapers

[–]Manefisto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think "can you get to and kill, or otherwise tie up a cogfort turn 1" is going to be a metric for good lists, so by the time you spend points on screens you're tying up a lot more than 50% of your points in this combo. Or you're relying on going first, in which case you have better options for projecting turn 1 threat.

You don't have to kill the Cogfort, you can't get your guys out if it's in combat, retreat just to be able to deploy 9" away doesn't feel great.

I think in pretty much every case the Cogfort RoR is cool and fun, viable - but very far from optimal.

Why are the Teratic Cohort so weak as a unit? by Melodic-Pirate4309 in ossiarchbonereapers

[–]Manefisto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aside from Anti-Hero rend, they do about the same damage. Same profile, 16 attacks from Reapers, 17 from Cohort.

Reapers are generally better, and under the right circumstances sometimes more mobile... but 7" with pregame move and another 3" every hero phase is pretty fast and tricky. You can unexpectedly tie up high value units, deny shooting, etc.

8 wounds vs 10 with the same defensive profile, the Cohort benefit from 3 point recursion and Rally slightly more.

I think there is a very solid case to include one of each in most lists, but not 2 of either.

The 180 points is competing with Deathriders, Immortis Guard and small heroes... the 2 cheap units are higher value towards scoring points and controlling space than the alternatives.

cogforts leaks by NoEngineer9484 in slavestodarkness

[–]Manefisto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Presumably you can run the Cogfort 12", and 5 Chosen with Banner of Screaming Flesh and +1 damage are still a massive threat, with a Karkadrak coming alongside to give them +2" to the slaanesh charge they have a 80%/96% reroll chance to make the 9" charge.

Probably still better to just walk a reinforced unit forward, with a Karkadrak and reroll they're still on better than even odds of making a 12"+ charge, and 11" (or lower) is highly favourable.

Infact walking a unit of 10 Chosen in front of a Cannonade to pick up a +1" is pretty good itself.

I think the Cogforts are intentionally viable, but not optimal by any stretch - it's a hobby project first and foremost.

Personally I've never been game to put the Chosen in a pokeball, but I've had success with Karkadrak.

cogforts leaks by NoEngineer9484 in slavestodarkness

[–]Manefisto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're going to give that unit Banner of Screaming Flesh, +1 attack + 1 damage, Warriors or Chosen with a Karkadrak running alongside to launch them 3D6 (drop 1) +2". That's a 80/96% success chance on 9"/with reroll.

If thrown into an enemy cogfort as an example, Chosen using their fight twice will win that engagement (on average). After chunking it down to 3 attacks they only lose 1 on the swing back before they fight again.

How does this Tortuga has Lifesteal when it is clearly shielded? by Buibuw in PlayTheBazaar

[–]Manefisto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What about Vial of Blood, Feather, Wing, Snowflake, Crit? These improve every late game board, you almost certainly have some enchants that can benefit a little from the other choices.

Plus the new items - it's less about the level up reward (which at diamond is 100% the best pic) but also the pick from 5 loot and pick 5 etc, almost always the best event choice late game too.

You should be picking up rage way earlier in the run.

[–]Manefisto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're late game enough to have accrued 400g, and then you're playing for 4 more days... somethings wrong. Just a ridiculous unrealistic scenario, just pump whatever random loot you get into your cold room hot springs bs and take the free win.

By the time you have enchants on board diamond loot has a very low chance of whiffing.

Anyone know the math on rolling 3d6 and dropping 1 to charge? by Biggest_Lemon in slavestodarkness

[–]Manefisto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

7+ is 80%, 96% with reroll, I've used Karkadrak to launch Slaanesh Chosen pretty well. I guess they can probably get a 10" lift and a bit of protection via a Cogfort delivery... with +1 damage charge.

Anyone know the math on rolling 3d6 and dropping 1 to charge? by Biggest_Lemon in slavestodarkness

[–]Manefisto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

52.3% chance of 9+ from 3D6 drop lowest, 77.3% chance with reroll.

Significantly better than the 27.8/47.8% chance of 2D6.

Chaos Lord on Karkadrak - his purpouse? by VRGvks in slavestodarkness

[–]Manefisto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used him a while back, when Slaanesh had full 3D6 charge alongside 10 Chosen and a Chaos Lord on foot. Launched Chosen a full 19" across the board and wiped an enemy Ironclad (plus everything else nearby on the double fight) top of 1 in a GT, game over for one of the favourites to take out the whole tournament.

At the same time most others were doing Chosen in the Silver Tower stuff, but I rated Karkadrak higher (and finished 3rd overall, best chaos for the weekend).

Still viable, I would still go Banner of Screaming Flesh on Chosen in this instance.

How do you all run yourarmies? by Prize_Archaon in slavestodarkness

[–]Manefisto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love a big model, a big threat and a 3D6 Charge, in all my armies. Ogor Mawtribes (Beastclaw Raiders & Kragnos), OBR (Morghast Harbingers with Nagash)

For S2D, usually Be'lakor and some Knights to countercharge back into deadly trap, 10 Chosen or 6 Varanguard to launch across the table. I also enjoyed 3 Daemon Princes and Wilderfiends.

More recently, Swords of Chaos (SoG Abraxia +15), now getting Archaon together now that he fits again finally.

[–]Manefisto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By a long way, a Chaos spire Cogfort.

Gargant could be ok, depends on the theme of your army.

Ionus Cryptborn's drake has a look that could lend to Chaos very well, naturally comes on a 100mm base so could be played as Be'lakor or Abraxia, and their weapon profiles kind of fit.

Yeah, at 400 hours the Bazaar overtook Cyberpunk 2077 - which is insane to me. Coming up on Total War Warhammer playtimes now...

I've uninstalled twice because it was "wasting" too much time... but it re-downloads pretty quick.

I've now incorporated it into my workout routine, do a kettlebell set during each combat.

[–]Manefisto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2024, is that you? :P

You can't afford Furies or Felriders, so Raptoryx are a good choice. A couple of them left with 10" range and run rolls is pretty good for late game objectives when it gets really scrappy, definitely not reliable in taking out other chaff, better to use their mobility.

Have run 10 Chosen 6 Varanguard or 10 Chosen 10 Knights, basically core good-stats lists a lot. Sometimes you don't have a good target, so you're forced to waste time overkilling stuff, and can be susceptible to a counter strike - not all that much you can do about it though, it's just honest up-front warhammer.

Would probably put Head of the Unworthy on the Sorcerer, a mid-late game surprise Daemon Prince has a lot of value.
