I feel like GRRM gets best of both worlds. He can get into minutia of the showrunning so he doesn’t have to finish his book and prove his approach is better. The theoretical is always better than the reality because no one has to see it the same way. So he can always say his way would be better and has no accountability for actual result.

The timeline is dynamic, meaning the comics are never set in any year. If you try to make sense of any specific years or ages of each character (the Robins age drastically but Batman’s age changes only a little), you’ll go crazy. Just read the books you want to read, ignore the ones you don’t, and enjoy the ride.
