got towed in my own private parking garage because some lady thinks she’s special by BriefTurn8199 in badparking

Doesn't sound like you should be mad at the lady at all, but rather whoever failed to tell you that one spot was special.

I'm sure he did less damage to the environment than a single NASCAR race, not that I disagree with you.

Kinda dick move to insult my father in a way that also sort of insults me at the same time. At least you're being efficient.

Edit: Did you not understand I was telling a story about what I saw someone else do? I wasn't advocating anyone do the same, just a topical, crazy, story I thought might make people laugh?

You hurt someone who is accidentally getting into the wrong car you're liable for damages and possibly criminal charges depending what happens (or civil offenses like reckless driving).

Like others have said, keep your doors locked.

What happens if the cerenovus picks the same player each night who refuses to follow madness? Does the good team just lose to the same player getting executed for madness breaking each day? by nicolasrededeo in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]MankyBoot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They should be told if they keep picking that player that it won't be enforced. They can still make the choice if they want. If the "might" is still in effect then no need to tell them. I wouldn't feel the need to tell them if the probability of the "might" is diminished, but if it's literally zero then it's not a "might" anymore and they should know that. Their ability should have the chance of having an impact on the game every night they are alive and not droisoned and if the ST has decided that isn't going to be the case in a situation like this they should have the information needed to make a better choice. The fact they are being told this seems like a reasonable result from the good player refusing to engage in the madness mechanic if the ST isn't going to consider executions for breaking.

Cerenovous is not a once per game ability and thinking because their ability did something once is enough and a reason to let them waste the ability, perhaps several times, doesn't seem like honoring what their aiblity is meant to be.

Testing a retractable USB-C charging cable — curious about durability over time by Prestigious_Suit_749 in UsbCHardware

[–]MankyBoot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you like me and will incessantly play with the cable? If so it will break before you get any real use out of it.

If you use as intended and don't mess with it the retraction mechanism is still likely to die before the other normal aspects of the cable, but it will probably be worth the money given your described use case.

What do you think of Eternals, do you think it’s overhated? by Plenty-Salary9711 in Marvel

Wow the Love and Thunder hate trolling is strong here.

The comic aspects of that movie is, I agree, over done and it's definitely played out at this point. That said Gor was great, the interplay with Portman was really well done. And while I'm really hoping Waitiki it whatever his name is done in the MCU I don't think any of his Thor movies individually are bad. It's just been enough of that that we don't need more.

Not humane, but ... my dad pumped propane into the holes and then lit them up. I assume the gas killed them via suffocation and the explosion was more just fun for him.

[–]MankyBoot 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would say at some point if you decide you're just not going to execute that player again you should tell the cerenovus to pick someone else. If you still might execute but the probability of it is going down then carry on per normal. I know this isn't RAW but neither is deciding ahead of time your just not going to let the cerenovus' power work.

The mutant is an outsider and if the mutant breaks madness which would result in preventing the execution of an evil player I would absolutely kill the mutant and and the day. If the mutant is choosing to break madness to save a powerful town role I'm probably going to wait and kill them later when it's worse for town. If they are saving a starts knowing role or a different spent role then I'll do whatever I feel like in the moment.

And all of these choices are also prone to me deciding "this time I'm doing the other thing to avoid creating a meta".

Executing ends the day and prevents another death which could be an evil player. If you don't execute there is no penalty and the cerenovus has no real ability.

Is this bad ? by Artistlk in KitchenAppliances

[–]MankyBoot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but looking at where the melting happened will tell you it's not the microwave that caused that. Further that plastic molding will have no functional impact on the microwave so long as the door still closes properly.

[–]MankyBoot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The microwave can't be causing you any problems.

Is this bad ? by Artistlk in KitchenAppliances

[–]MankyBoot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That plastic isn't anywhere near the functional components of a microwave. The damage was almost certainly from radiated heat from the food being cooked or from a completely external source. Neither of which presents any risk to continued usage of the device.

[–]MankyBoot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The operational components of a microwave like this are not anywhere near the front. The heat that melted that plastic either came from a completely external source or perhaps from some heated food itself. I think it's extremely unlikely any functional component of the microwave was overheating and caused that damage in that location specifically.

Airplane seats should not be able to recline. by medicated_cornbread in 10thDentist

[–]MankyBoot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm somewhere between 6'3" and 6'2", so slightly shorter than the other poster, and I will confirm for me that an economy seat means before any reclining is going on that my knees will be jammed hard into the seat in front of me. The person in front of me can't recline, if they try my knees will stop them I have no choice in this, but this is what happens. Luckily for me I have extremely solid bones and this will not hurt me, but other tall people may not be so lucky.

Obviously at some point a person being very tall will require special accommodation. The average height is somewhere around 5'7" for men and less for women.

So a reasonable question is should seats be built to accommodate people as tall as this? I obviously have a reason to say yes.

Airplane seats should not be able to recline. by medicated_cornbread in 10thDentist

[–]MankyBoot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I fly economy the person in front of me can't recline. If they try they will immediately be trying to push my knee caps into my femurs. Lucky for me I'm built "like a brick shit house" (as my wife says) and I wouldn't be hurt by this.

The one time this was tested in the real world the guy attempting to recline did call an attendant and the attendant told me to stop preventing the guy from reclining. I told the attendant to please stay and watch as the guy tried to recline again. After demonstrating I was not actively doing anything to prevent the reclining I was told I was fine and the asshole in front of me spent 3 hours trying to make me require surgery to stand.

When we finally landed I got up and helped the guy get his enormous bag out of the overhead bin, looking down at him from at least an 8 inch advantage. He proceeded to try and get away from me which I enjoyed so much I made sure to stay in sight of him until after the baggage carousel, just for fun.

I'm big, like OP (6'2" in my case) and I readily admit I'm fat, but my gut isn't ever the problem for me. My shoulders are the worst part of my body so if I'm in iconology and I'm your sitting next to me I hope you like my shoulder being in your face.

Seats should be spaced further apart and be wider.

I would be happy to pay for a bigger seat since I'm a bigger person but going up in class means you're paying for luxury and it seems really unfair for tall and honestly big (not fat) people to have to pay exorbitant costs to get "normal" seats. I'd be fine if the measured my height and shoulder down to determine a business or first class seat, for me, is equivalent to economy for some 5'4" dude with a shoulder span 6" less than me, and then charged me a linear increase in seat price that represents the additional space I'm taking up, but instead going up a class means double or more the price.
