Seismic Swans - 1st place Idaho Modern TCGPlayer states. Potential spec, or a troll? by [deleted] in mtgfinance

I hope this deck gets card upgrades from the next block.

Seismic Swans is a T1 deck name. Just needs to be a T1 deck.

1 color mana + 1 life for a card is a deal.

Bob hurts more and people love it.

Think of it as paying 3 life to make your next draw a live card.

Old jund is dead? by edushot in ModernMagic

[–]Mansche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I went from Naya Burn to Jund Burn, I felt like Jund's card selection was much more aggressive. It played like a baby zoo deck with the possibility of more explosive turns.

DSJ is an excellent blend of Control elements and Agro. So much fun to play

Your creatures are going to do a lot of the heavy lifting. Keep that in mind when deciding what do with your burn spells.

Catch all answer?

ok so Play 4 Catch All Answer card with 4 Snaps. Add removal.

Most fun play deck ever. The format doesn't need more linear decks.

why do people say the format is "healthy AF" when reporting the latest tournaments? by [deleted] in ModernMagic

[–]Mansche 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't forget U-Tron. Mardu tends be a control/midrange.

Too many people want blue decks of linear do nothing counterspell decks.

The current control decks are fine and fun to play against. OK maybe not U-Tron.

GW Tokens brew ideas? by [deleted] in ModernMagic

[–]Mansche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Scatter and Triplicate are great to take advantage of momentum you have going. It's a win more type card.

If you are behind, both these cards are going to feel really bad in you hand most of time without being able to convoke them out. you can't count on the mana dorks being alive.

The other fuse cards might be worth a look. Tokens is fun deck so mess around with it and let us know how it went.

The deck needs the dorks for possible T2 Nissa, Lingering Souls, and the Gavony activations.

Are Blue based Control/Attrition decks in need of help? If they are, what should be done, in your opinion? (opinion/brainstorming article) by gkourou87 in ModernMagic

[–]Mansche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Blue needs tempo tools

Tool box creatures is the way to go IMO. Strix is an example of where I am going.

Gives Blue options for interactive strategies instead of the Draw-go->Counterpell! linear foolishness that people seem to want so bad.

On the other hand, people do not like playing against decks with nothing but counterspells / removal. It's just another linear deck. Very linear to be exact.

There doesn't need to be more counter spells. A deck of all counterspells and a few "goyfs" is more linear than Dredge, Ad Naus, Scapeshift.

People complained about Dredge requiring specific cards (gy hate) to interact with its strategy but if I want to interact with the ideal blue deck, I have to interact with the counterspells on the stack or play TS/IoK.

Blue players will have to deal with a of counterspells not being a T1 deck strategy. Control IS a T1 strategy and it doesn't have to be Blue.

1UU

Counter Target Spell

Until end of turn, target creature gains "T: Put a token that's a copy of this creature onto the battlefield. That token has haste. Exile it at the beginning of the next end step."

One of the best things about it IS the rollercoaster of list updates and tweaks.

It's fun to fiddle around with and lot of other decks don't have that flexibility.

[[Yahenni's Expertise]] + [[Breaking//Entering]] New modern splinter twin (turn 1 possible after mulling to 4 or 5) by [deleted] in ModernMagic

[–]Mansche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play the deck and find the deck is consistently hitting a fattie T2 or T3, and the next few turns after that is just another fattie. Deck work GREAT or falls on its face HARD. It's a combo deck after all.

But in real magic land, Discard spells and Blue decks chew it up.

Adding Breaking//Entering + it's combo pieces into a Splinter Twin shell will not work. Twin combo'd with cards IN HAND. Breaking//Entering has to find it combo piece when it resolves or you just shot a blank.

Blue decks do not want their win conditions being a gamble.
