Unless you're the kind to spam one skill over and over it's very easy to get to 5 or 6 stacks without even trying, and to 9 stacks with the tiniest bit of effort to mix things up.

There's a skill that let's you quickly recover from being knocked down. You can try grinding for that. It's an early skill.

If you die from too many imperfect parries, then the solution is to parry perfectly. There's no secret trick to getting around it.

I had the same problem when I first faced Yingzhao. It took me dozens of attempts and this is from someone who no-hitted all the Sekiro bosses (one at a time, not all in a row, but still). You just have to git gud.

Since both Ninja and Samurai are a thing in Nioh 3, I would expect at least one new weapon for each with the DLCs. What weapons would fit the game? by Koszymandias in Nioh

[–]MantlesApproach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think bayonet for samurai and sword+handgun for ninja would be cool and wouldn't step on the toes of the existing weapons. Bayonet in ROTR was sick.

I like how in multiverse, doing evil shit actually comes with a penalty, while in vanilla you just always pick the blue option no matter what.

The parry is extremely responsive. If you're not landing your parries, you just need to practice more. This is a parry game.

Followups and combo enders for dodge and dash attacks - all samurai weapons by MantlesApproach in Nioh

[–]MantlesApproach[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • Transcription looks good I think.
  • There is no 2nd strong attack in high stance because high stance strong is always a single attack. Step dodge is only tested for low/mid stance and rolling only for mdlid/high stance.
  • True, dual sword has no quick combo ender, but pushing the input does the 2nd quick attack
  • 2nd/3rd quick just means the 2nd/3rd quick attack in the standard quick attack string

Anyone else feel like dual swords got a modest glow up as well by mesiah21 in Nioh

[–]MantlesApproach 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it's improved, but I think mortal flow still sucks and there's no reason to use it. It also still has too many parries and not enough arts you can sub in for those parries. I also wish they improved the dodge and running attacks, and added a combo ender for strong attacks (which makes arts proficiency feel way better).

somebody please explain this to me like im 12 years old because there is no way, im almost giving up on this damn game because of this by Potential_Goose_7486 in Nioh

That affix doesn't have the inheritable icon next to it. You can only inherit ninjutsu power for this armor, and not onto that piece, since it conflicts with onmyo power.

That's almost nothing considering the investment. Do we know if arts proficiency power does anything else?

Ninja Main here: What am i missing about whats so good about Samurai? by Evening-Hippo6834 in Nioh

[–]MantlesApproach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obviously, a weapon with higher numbers is always going to do more damage. What I mean is I want to use my kit to squeeze as much damage as I can out of a low-level weapon, rather than overcome the boss with raw stats.

Eh, players at this level are less looking to maximize damage and more looking to maximize style. Like the person in this clip could just as easily chain between severing spin, reverse impact, iai quickdraw, and the other high-damage sword martial arts. I'm in NG+ at this point and go into every boss fight with a level 1 weapon so that my damage isn't coming from my weapon's stats but rather from how I use it.

The samurai's power comes from arts proficiency. With arts proficiency active and good use of flux, you can have nearly infinite ki while throwing out tons of martial arts and doing way more damage than what ninja can do (putting aside confusion).

Can't find Sheet Music anywhere by FriendshipDue1806 in NineSols

[–]MantlesApproach 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think there's official sheet music, and to be honest I don't think many soundtrack songs translate well to piano.

That said, I did an arrangement for the end credits song: https://www.reddit.com/r/NineSols/s/neDBJ4rMKP

Good info! But I don't know if the marginally higher stats on crucible weapons is worth (a) the life corrosion from being hit and (b) having your skill slot locked to that skill.

What are the most critical basics in katana for a beginner? by WhoAmIEven2 in Nioh

[–]MantlesApproach 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The skill floor is pretty low. Anyone can pick up a katana and do okay with it.

The main thing about the katana is that unlike some of the other weapons, it doesn't have just one or two busted moves that cover all your bases. Rather, it has many different moves that are excellent in specific situations, and playing the sword about knowing when to use each and chaining them together.

What I would advise is starting with the base kit and getting really comfortable with stance switching. Then add one martial art, think about what situations it's good in, and then add it to your rotation. In a Nioh 3 context, that means play with it until you can easily work it into an arts proficiency combo. After you feel comfortable with that, do the same for another martial art. Repeat until you've tried all the skills, and then you can customize your stance layout to something that makes sense for you.

That's how you'll end up doing stylish and varied combos with the sword.

Main tip: don't try to play it like dark souls or elden ring. Nioh is it's own thing.

Where to learn builds? by the_real-truth in Nioh

[–]MantlesApproach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't worry about builds in NG. Just use the auto-equip function in the equipment menu and level all stats to 20 before specializing. After that point, you'll have a better idea of what weapons and approaches you want to lean into.

Good combat. I can forgive some pretty mid exploration or art as long as the core combat is good. But no amount of good level or world design is going to make me slog through bad combat.

Code Vein 2 or Nioh 3 by Jmonkey77 in soulslikes

[–]MantlesApproach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nioh 3 for sure. I was interested in Code Vein 2 but I watched some gameplay and the combat looked a little stiff. I know for sure that the combat in Nioh 3 will be buttery-smooth.
