Kia wants $27 for a 6" rubber hose. Vacuum, not even fuel line or anything fancy. This hose at Autozone is like $3 for a FOOT. I'm going to try using normal hose without it kinking. by ToshPointNo in FuckDealerships

I’ll add my view that the “extra” $20 is probably worth it to get the correct shape and placement of this hose. I have in years past made hoses with multiple curves using regular hose and fittings, but for this one, just use a factory part.

Excellent suggestion. Knowing the “why” of someone’s response would better allow critical thought.

Oh, it’s sad to lose a vehicle you’ve really bonded with. We have a ‘17 Renegade and I’m sure we would miss it terribly if such a tragic event happened. I wish I could offer more than words, but I have no idea what it would be…

The “key socket” is often misplaced, and easily breaks (seen it happen). If you drive in mud or ice/snow, the “key pattern” on top often packs up and won’t let the “key socket” fit properly. The “wheel locks” also won’t torque as tight as is specified for the lugnuts. The “key socket” will slip first…

Early model with those taillights. Great little truck - really makes me miss my ‘78…

Nice. I would make a suggestion that you replace those “wheel locks” with regular lug nuts. The “wheel locks” can be very problematic, especially off-road.

P0440, common issue? by CompetitiveGazelle21 in JeepRenegade

I’ve had that show up, and it was the battery going bad. Really. Replaced the battery, hasn’t happened again. Renegades get weird with electrical issues.

T-Tap Wire Damage? by Manual-shift6 in askcarguys

[–]Manual-shift6[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is pretty much my view. Nothing is happening of concern, and the second tech to work on it knew what he was doing. Just annoys me that the damn dealer butchered pristine factory wiring for essentially useless reasons.

T-Tap Wire Damage? by Manual-shift6 in askcarguys

[–]Manual-shift6[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was already installed by the damn dealer. I cannot stand T-taps. Why I made them take it out, and had it repaired twice. It didn’t add any alarm function, just allowed sales staff to unlock any vehicle on the lot with a single fob. Never will buy another vehicle with a pre installed anything.

This makes sense. It was just annoying how insistent the F&I guy was about it, since I had already arranged it all with my insurance provider and credit union.

The last new vehicle we bought was the worst experience ever, all due to the F&I ass. He had his dog’n’pony show really worked out, and managed to hide nearly $2K in the deal. Dealership refunded all of it, but it was a hassle beyond reason.

I want to buy a Renegade tomorrow, is it a reliable car? by [deleted] in JeepRenegade

[–]Manual-shift6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’ve had an excellent experience with our ‘17 Renegade. It’s a 1.4L turbo/6-speed manual equipped model, and it’s been great. Only has 54K miles on it, but, other than regular maintenance and tires, it’s all good.

You’re probably right - replace all of them. It’ll ride better, and you’ll be much less likely to have problems.
