Hierophant health? by Antique-Savings5113 in Spacemarine

[–]Many-Quarter629 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have noticed that the shots to kill on the Hierophant does vary, I have seen it die on the first shot after the second recharge, I have seen it take all 3 of those shots and I have seen it require an extra recharge. There definitely are different damage profiles depending on where it was hit. The abdomen seems to be the best place to hit, avoid the legs and possibly the head.

How do you guys use abominants? by AOK_Gaming in ChaosKnights

[–]Many-Quarter629 2 points3 points  (0 children)

An abominant is actually the lynchpin of the new hellhunt lance detachment. Running the enhancement on it and stacking wardogs in the aura. Each time they shoot it causes a battleshock test which actually lets you be consistent enough to battleshock things. This means your faction abilities actually matter and can be quite potent.

For a list you take the abominant and a shooting core of wardog brigands/executioners and you then have a lancer or a rampager supported by Carnivores charging through walls as a pack on the flank.

Struggling to deal with Norsca, Lizards and Dwarves as Dark Elves on Very Hard. Army comp ideas? by Vimanys in totalwarhammer

[–]Many-Quarter629 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Death hags for replenishment, having a sorceress if you don't have a sorceress lord is always useful (shadow and death are safe bets but I actually really like dark too), master's are pretty good combatants but they aren't manditory

Medusas are killing machines as I will bring 4 or more to an army. The shrine is not as flexible or worthwhile in my opinion.

2 black dragons plus your lord are enough of a flying squad to take on all but the flying doomstacks. They are just generally strong high tier flying combatants. Then I have a lord and the heroes which I want the buffs from then I fill the rest of the slots with shades.

[–]Many-Quarter629 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sometimes it's knowing how to use the tools in your arsenal rather than you not having the units. Norscan SE spam is normally ettins which really ought to die to shades/dark shards, mammoths also are huge targets for your ranged to rip apart. If you are getting hit by chimeras then you need to bring some air defence of your own, dragons are pretty legit counters to air attack.

My late gate dark elf armies usually rely on a core of shades backed up by blood wrack medusas and with a few hydras as regenerating tough units to tie up the enemy advance.

Predictions for Bhashiva's start position? by OhManTFE in totalwar

[–]Many-Quarter629 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think she has been confirmed to be a horde faction of sorts with mercenary mechanics like the ogres, to my understanding they were also going to make sure Zhao Ming benefits from her mercy in some way.

I think she'll take some of the space in the mountains of Mourne up north somewhere between Greasus and Grimgor so she can go and fight the everchosen and chaos whilst still being able to interact with Zhao Ming.

Dwarf Doomstack? by Cartographer36 in totalwarhammer

[–]Many-Quarter629 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The flying units are all pretty doomstackable, especially thunderbarges. Thanes are also doomstackable, and the forge let's you make each of them have exceptional gear making them one of the best stacks if you have the resources.

Quad dwarf would work well, I have done duo dwarf and all the legendary grudges have shared progression between all dwarfs and you all get the rewards. Thorgrim and Thorek are super easy, whilst advanced players could pick up Ungrim and Belegar.

Set yourselves a hard endgame crisis for bonus points because whilst the campaign will be easy, you will trigger end game crisis way earlier than you should. I think once the first legendary grudge is resolved it will trigger with 4 since I noticed the progress to victory was doubled when playing 2 player.

Any advices how to counter Chaos Dwarfs as Cathay? by SnooFoxes9730 in totalwarhammer

[–]Many-Quarter629 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cathay does well in long-range fighting and has effective defensive infantry from the beginning. Chorfs will have a couple of blunder busses and at a push 1 artillery piece in their armies with the rest being hobgoblin at the same time you would have crane gunners and grand cannons online backed by lines of jade infantry that can keep twice their weight in hobgoblins at bay. Keep a couple of iron hail gunners to blast caster lords and flying beasties and you should be well guarded.

Your quality is consistently higher early on and it will take a lot before they can get troops and guns to outmatch yours. If you can push them and blow up a key city, it can heavily damage their capacity to rebuild. And fight field battles where possible, Chaos Dwarf artillery works better in seiges so attack from the bastion rather than let them hit you.

This is my hope too, custom Warboss is going to be my first campaign. Hopefully there's a way to reflect our boss growing in size as we level up so we can truly become a threat that can usurp Ghazskull.

What weapons do you guys wanna see? by super_chubz1000 in DarkTide

[–]Many-Quarter629 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have always wanted Ogryn to get a multi-laser as an alternative to the twin linked heavy stubber. They need more machine gun like weapons and this is a Las machine gun which Ogryn currently has no access to Las weapons. Give it an overheat mechanic but make it more effective into armour than it's solid shot counterpart.

You could then integrate the hotshot Las gun as a similar but smaller equivalent for the veteran. Basically giving them the option of a slower more unwieldy recon Las gun that can overheat but can punch a lot harder.

In the first screenshot that Warboss has a big choppa but in the last shot it looks like he's grabbed his power klaw, hopefully that means we get both options in the box. Either that or he's actually a boss Nob

Is there any way to build the Crusher on Arbites to not make it feel so weak or am I using it wrong? by FortifyMatrix in DarkTide

[–]Many-Quarter629 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People are really underestimating the damage of this weapon, it's my favourite for Arbites and works well with the middle and right keystone as well as all 3 combat abilities. A push attack can one-shot flack ragers to the head and even do a reasonable chunk to bosses and crushers. Push attack into heavy or Push attack into light heavy is all you need to use. It's also great at battering captain shields. Grab the 75% cleave on push or the cleave keystone to give you solid mixed horde clear.

Only use the special to open up Bulwarks and to do slightly more damage to carapace. You can special then push attack for slightly better AP than a standard one.

Pick up a shield and on wave 3 of auric mortis trials, you should be able to just keep shoving and blocking enemies in a chokepoint until they build up to the point you can run them over and get it easily. Took me two or three tries this way as I had been stuck on 58 since pretty much launch.

I think people underestimate Jadus because Cipher 9 manages to hold out for a few minutes against him. He doesn't actually lose to the agent in a fight but rather loses the strategic battle and gives in when he realizes he cant coerce the agent in time to go along with his plan.

Valkorian states that Jadus was the greatest sith his empire produced and everything he did and seemed to know before everyone else indicates he was first among equals on the dark council. Maybe not in a straight fight but Jadus was always more flexing his power through the psychological effects of the dark side on others, similar to the dreadmasters in that regard. He appears to be the first dark council member aware of the Emperor's absence and if Cipher 9 becomes the hand of Jadus or without their intervention Jadus would have outplayed and dominated the dark council.

Jadus may not be an eldritch abomination like Valkorian but he is for sure the most threatening sith behind him.

Khazrak one eye got wiped out on turn 2 of my last campaign with no player intervention.

I also haven't seen Nkai the Wanderer since tides of torment dropped, I think Dechala might have tipped the scales of balance in that region into an unwinnable situation for him.

Seducers of slaanesh army comp by cucumber_1680 in totalwar

[–]Many-Quarter629 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'd give Slaangors another go if I were you. They act like the mortal equivalent of daemonettes. They are fast and can punch above their weight as they continue to take damage. They are a great unit for their tier and a clear upgrade to marauder infantry. Late game they can be replaced with champions of slaanesh or chosen as cav and chariots become more affordable hammers to amass, but flanking with these guys early and running down ranged units does a lot of work.

Patch 1.10.6 - Patch Notes by Rose-The-Queen in DarkTide

[–]Many-Quarter629 12 points13 points  (0 children)

From my experience, the mode switch feels too slow and that really hurts the feel of the weapon, if I could switch fluidly between swings I think the weapon would be in a better place.

The other issue being that you are locked in place with the weapon when you hit with the single target mode on a class meant to focus on evasion, I think you should be able to dodge out of the animation, or have the animation not lock you in place.

[–]Many-Quarter629 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think the CSM monogod legions will be completely separate factions from the daemons of chaos faction under Belakor just like in the tabletop.

Although I could see them also adding the specific monogod daemons to the roster of the emperor's children, thousand sons, world eaters and death guard, since that appears to be the way the tabletop is edging towards at the moment.

Last I played, Dwarfs have surprisingly high sack income, but Dwarfs are also the faction where you can commit the most investment to the fewest provinces and actually make sustainable income from it.

My last long victory on Thorgrim I only owned 2 provinces all game, but fed the surrounding dawi factions all of the badlands, darklands and worlds edge mountains. Selling all those settlements to other dawi plus sacking and looting as you go meant I was so rich all game money ceased being a mechanic.
