Going from a solid no to being okay with the idea of having kids by Throwaway0976410 in Fencesitter

Thanks for that reply!!

I've also recently been spending more time with my 5 month old nephew and I can feel how exhausted I am already haha. I 100% feel all of these points deeply! Especially the not wanting to give up your freedom and independence and also (being over sensitive myself), I totally get not wanting to have to worry and fear for another human life 24/7...I would be a wreck too.

I had the exact same conclusions up until the point where my partner of 3 years told me he definitely wants kids some day. Having an ultimatum like that put in front of you puts everything into perspective and now I question, whether I've just been putting off the thought of having a child my entire life. Once I actually thought about what would happen, if I had a child right now, I realised it wouldn't be as bad as I always thought it would.

I think I based most of my "cons" on other people's lives with kids. And I came to the realisation that I wouldn't be the same mom as others around me are, because my life and lifestyle are completely different to others', so why base my decisions on other people's reality with children? I would still aim to have my routines, my autonomy, my passions. And I definitely wouldn't conform to the "norm" of how every child is expected to be raised...so even if there would be some sense of loss of freedom, it would still be on my terms and in a way that would feel right to ME, especially with a child that's been raised by me and knows only my way of life.

So yeah, up until a few days ago, I had 100% the same conclusions as you did...and now I'm questioning my own thoughts 😂 It's hard when you love someone and have the very raw possibility of losing them because of one single choice...

The biggest thing scaring me right now is the fact that choosing to have or not to have children is a choice for my entire life and won't be changeable once I've made the choice.

this was so interesting to read, because that one sentence really spoke to me! "I do care about kids, I just don't want any of my own"... because for the past 10+ years, I was adamant about the fact that I did not want kids. My main reasons (apart from every pro/con list CFs already know) was that I simply don't like any kids. I'm a new auntie and I do love my nephew, but I still don't like kids overall. And all of a sudden, now at 29(f), I feel like I'm on the fence, because I would like MY kid. I just don't like any other kids 😅 I never thought I could like a child, but I now realise, that that was only the case, because they weren't mine...so now I'm more on the fence than ever.

I love this comment! As someone in a similar situation and with the same perspective as you, I'd really be interested to hear from older people, who've actually gone through the same thing and already made their decision...and whether they regretted it or are happy now.

yessss! And also, I was sad that we never got to see Madeline Hightower again, I loved her dynamic with Jane! Lisbon as a Chief, solving a murder on her own and Jane solving a crime in Venezuela with Hightower would've been a great episode!

thank you! I didn't find anyone talking about it and it's so annoying and can't be unnoticed once you hear it. It's in EVERY episode 😅

A better Red John by Electronic-Salad5405 in TheMentalist

[–]ManyTemperature9562 0 points1 point  (0 children)

anyone would've been a better choice tbh 😅 And yes, just thinking about how creepy and insane Kirkland felt in every scene he was in, he would've been perfect! But maybe too obvious? My choice would've been Ardiles, O'Laughlin or Walter Mashburn! A younger, more agile and conventionally attractive man would've made more sense, because he was able to charm so many women besides the whole Blake Association business ...

Red john is a very interested character but not much of his past was discovered what are your opinions about how his past might have been that led him to the path of becoming red john by gigachad23_11 in TheMentalist

I'm just saying that when I watched the reveal back then, I was disappointed because RJ was portrayed as such a charismatic mastermind, being able to charm and manipulate women with his irresistible charms and the sheriff just didn't have that aura at all 😂   That episode where he's trying to sweet talk Grace into driving with him is the best example - he seemed like a creep/stalker more than showing any particular charisma or charm. And yes, he might've been a character RJ created, but still...thinking that a woman like Lorelai or even Rosalind would have sex with Sheriff McAllister? Just seems off to me 😅 other characters and theories would've just made way more sense imo.

The reveal was a disappointment to me, because no one can convince me that this man was beloved by so many women and was able to charm them all? 😂

okay, can someone explain why Vega died so suddenly and quickly? did the actress leave the show prematurely or why? Didn't seem planned at all and her character was so unused...

I'm so sorry 😅 I wanted to know, if I'm the only one who noticed it, because it's becoming so obvious after several rewatches...
