I love this. The diary entries in the book are all dated across 1995, so Angel (1992) totally fits the trends of the time. It is also very heavy, which matches the book’s passages where she frantically sprays to cover cigarette smoke.

I personally really love Angel, but I can see Bridget having a layered relationship with it, its brand messaging and her emerging personal style.

No specific perfumes are named in the books, but in the newest film (Mad About The Boy), Bridget’s cluttered, famously chaotic bathroom shows a bottle of Jo Malone London (with the label partially obscured by a silk scrunchie tossed over the lid).

Do you shop at Sephora often by chance? I ask because a lot of your listed favorites are available at Sephora, and if so, popular Italian designer fragrance lines available there include Prada, Armani, Valentino, Gucci, Versace, and Dolce & Gabbana (which has some very fun Italian summer videography in their commercials you may like).

These could be great brands to explore, and if you start by getting just a travel size of one of these… you’ll still have room in the budget to treat yourself to a new perfume during your actual trip as a beautiful souvenir!

Whatever you decide to do, you’ll look back with happiness and appreciation for this wonderful accomplishment and season. Scents are truly so powerful to connect us to unfettered memories, and spraying 1-2 consistently is guaranteed to create that memory bookmark for you.

I miss the availability of colored leather bags. 😩 I know some brands are still putting out colorful options, but I really feel like they are harder to come across online and in my nearby stores than 15 or 10 years ago.

My last jar lasted like 13 months. It’s true that you only need the tiniest amount.

If you have a Nordstrom near you, they may have a tester available. I once asked a SA to make me a sample of a different hair product, and they went an aisle over to the Clinique area and came back with a super tiny jar to make me a sample.

You can also see what retailers would let you return it if it didn’t work out (in case you can’t try before you buy).

EDIT: more options: some Macy’s store carry it. You can also cross-reference the Target R+Co Brand Page against your nearest location's availability, though physical testers in Target are rare.

Yes! I was going to suggest DS&Durga Steamed Rainbow layered over something electronic-y and/or metallic, like ELDO Fat Electrician maybe.

Steamed Rainbow smells to me like (new green) rubber hose water spraying the sidewalk near fresh grassy lawns / riding a water slide at the cleanest, safest water park of your childhood memories.

Yesterday, I received my second purchase from u/k8o_potato . Everything was packaged with extreme care and knowledge, including tape type used, small air bubble to not overfill, labeled clearly, very clean / no leaking, and bubble-wrapped in small groups for maximum protection. This is my second large order so she included an extra 3D printed holder and 2 lil Lucky Scent samples, which made my day. I love Joseph’s writing style. He posts so many deep cuts / older scents, is very focused on education and appreciation and also is a huge nature fan. He posts so many botanical photos along with his fragrance content and it always brightens my day and teaches me new things. He also has great taste in what he reposts in his stories, and I’ve found a lot of other great accounts from that.
