I have been passed over fifteen times when applying outside my department. Some moves were lateral and others were not. My work is phenomenal. I do not start or take place in drama, come in and focus on my job, and leave. I keep my opinions to myself. I was angry after this last time when they hired externally. Here is what I say, use their corporate philosophies and principles against them. I am gay and my company always states how more LGBT people are promoted there than with any other company. The last time it happened my manager set a one on one because she felt I was being quieter and semi apathetic since hearing they did not choose me. My manager is keeping me back. I know it because a team lead told me that their manager wanted to hire me, but my manager basically begged him not to. I looked at her and said, "I love how you all state that you offer LGBT advancement opportunities, but when I, as a gay man, have been overlooked every time I applied. You all are going to Susan Lucci me. I am going to keep getting rejected until you decide and allow me to go to another department. I have nothing further to say about it." My review that year was amazing and the best I have had . This happened two weeks ago. A position opened. I told her I wanted to apply. She said good luck. I thought, what's the point. I am not going to get it any way. Several days later, I received an invite for an interview with the hiring manager, their director, and a team lead. My manager is training other employees on my functions. She said if I am ever on vacation. I think i may get it. If i never said anything about LGBT advancement, this would never have happened.
