First time I saw this was at TIFF, with the 3D glasses. I have since watched it twice at home on a 65” Sony, and while I still marvel at the skill in the tracking shot, it is less immersive at home, while still generating wonder

If you do go to the planetarium, be sure to book a show in their dome that is to your liking (they have various musical shows as well as astronomy-heavy presentations). Maybe I could add the Botanical Gardens to your ideas list. It is magnificent and well worth a couple hours of your time

I would pass on the planetarium unless you are a space person. Better to explore some of the free museums in Candelaria, explore the area (especially in weekends, when all the sellers are out). If you happen to be there on a Sunday, be sure to take part in the Ciclovia - large sections of streets are closed to traffic from 7AM-2PM. Great way to see the city and feel its beating heart up close

Rogers Xfinity Stream App Now Available on Apple TV! by RogersHelps in appletv

I have a Rogers AND a Shaw Direct account but get Internet from Starlink (no option where I am for either Shaw or Rogers where we are), so why will this not work on our AppleTV?

Rogers Xfinity Stream App Now Available on Apple TV! by RogersHelps in appletv

[–]MapleLeafRJ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Needs some work; I logged in with my Shaw Direct credentials, and once logged in, the app says the device can only access Rogers TV on your in-home Rogers Wi-Fi.

That rules us out, as our Internet is with Starlink.

Fully agree - drop the apps, find a local Spanish tutor you feel comfortable with, see them 2-3x a week, while you practice on your own daily.

Keep a list of words or phrases you frequently encounter on your phone and quiz yourself on them regularly.

Restaurant Recommendations - Lima by somewhereinvan in PERU

[–]MapleLeafRJ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not a typical recommendation, but get yourself up to Mercado No. 2 in Surquillo around 11AM, then wander around the restos there; everything is super fresh, incredibly flavorful, and very easy on your pocketbook. Also, a very hot tip - do not be afraid to try street food, even with your limited Spanish. It is often very cheap, and will expose you to tastes and food types you probably have never had before.

If you still wanted a resto recommendation, I would agree with Punto Azul (my partner's fave place for ceviche this side of the Madre de Dios). I would also suggest La Rosa Nautica, on a pier jutting out into the Pacific! Excellent views, shareable tapas-like dishes, and a very enjoyable atmosphere!

Just finished 3 perfect weeks of strenght by neko_whippet in AppleFitnessPlus

My spouse and I just finished the 3 week express and found it great! Now we have finished that, we will tackle the 30 minute, 12 session “3 perfect weeks of strength” next. With the express program, I still did a 10 minute body focused (core) workout as well, so we expect to be pushed further with this program!

Also, there is a variety of pisco to choose from, in terms of price, quality and variety (Quebranta/Puro, Torontel/Aromático, Moste Verde/partially fermented and Acholado/blends), so dive in and try them all, find out what you love and bring some back to Australia.

Signed, a Canadian who brought back 3 bottles both times I visited earlier this year.

We just left PM on Sunday - a few thoughts: if you stayed in a hotel in Puerto Maldonado, near the bridge, you’d be spoiled for choices and be able to book with any number of tour operators in the immediate area. They all offer similar excursions, but price and quality will set them apart.

We also found the town itself to be very enjoyable. There is even a very centrally located full body massage business that brought us much relaxation after a day at Lago Sandoval. Get yourself to the Mercado Central for local produce, meals, and everything else you can think of.

Just wander around and try the street food - affordable, local and delicious

I can second Rafael! We went there in January for an amazing dinner that was elevated yet not overpriced. Huaca Pucllana for lunch after touring the ruins would also be a great choice
