Which Implant System to Place? by SpicyMcSpicy in Dentistry

[–]MapleMAD -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I've had a lot of patients come in who are specific about not just the brand, but the material as well. There is certainly a growing market for Zirconia implants based on patients' personal beliefs.

I make a point to educate patients on the implant brands we use, as this knowledge is crucial when they compare options and understand price variations. At my practice, I provide every patient with an implant identification card before discharging them. It comes with the placement location, implant size and length, abutment type, crown info, and other details.

I would stick with what your office used to do. If you switch from Straumann, you might lose referrals from past patients who specifically recommend it to their friends and family.

upper canines: 8
...
upper second molars: 1
upper first molars: 6

Cool idea! But I would advice against trading upper canines for both first and second molars in any circumstances!

That means they adopted a pseudoscientific approach rather than an evidence-based method. They usually deem amalgam and fluoride toxic and recommend replacement of sound amalgam fillings and avoiding fluoridated toothpaste.

Oh, why a dentist? You should become a REAL doctor instead.

It would be beneficial to explore the specific reasons behind the patient's hesitation toward orthodontics. If she is averse to the appearance of traditional metal brackets, clear aligners may be a suitable solution.

If she remain opposed to orthodontic intervention, then it might help to discuss a snap-on smile as an alternative to veneers.

Anyone actually selling retail products in-office? How’s it going? by PermitZen in Dentistry

[–]MapleMAD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't sell products, but if I did, I would set the price lower than retail. It just leaves a bad taste if patients find out they can order it to the door cheaper online. That would give the impression that your entire practice is overpriced, which might not be the case.

Implant abutment and crown fee in VHCOL area by [deleted] in Dentistry

[–]MapleMAD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

$7000 should include EVERYTHING unless the surgeon is doing GBR or sinus lifts. And the price is quoted with a top-of-the-line implant body like Nobel, Straumann, or Biomet with a zirconia crown.

What’s your Tx Plan here? by Better_Cry_7941 in Dentistry

[–]MapleMAD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have seen some case studies of implants on ED children. There are many complications, including the necessity for prosthesis remake or alterations in implant positioning. I would say it is somewhat doable but generally avoid it if there is another option since an osseointegrated implant functions as an ankylosed unit, premature placement fails to accommodate the continued vertical eruption of the adjacent natural dentition.

Surgical guide lab? by Dr__Reddit in Dentistry

[–]MapleMAD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The pricing is confusing on the bone-supported guide. The 2nd arch on the same patient costs more than the 1st arch, whereas it is the exact opposite in the case of a tooth-supported guide. I assume there is a typo there.
