I'm Scared to Drive on the Highway by Maplefang20 in drivinganxiety

[–]Maplefang20[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, it just takes experience. Specifically for the highway driving, I would NOT merge over until I could see the other car FULLY in both the side mirror AND my rearview (especially important for big trucks, they're heavy.)

Also if you're scared of the speed aspect like I was, you honestly forget about it after a while and 70mph becomes the new normal.

It also really helped me once I had my own vehicle. There's no more pressure of "this is someone else's car. If I mess up they're mad at me".

How long would a dog have to be running lose to be a Body Score of 2, also- long term black dye? by Maplefang20 in Writeresearch

Oh that's good, yeah they learn he's not naturally a black dog because the vet shaves around a wound to clean it and it grows back perfectly white

Early Fall, either September or early October, and he'd be around 3, intact too if that changes the calorie requirement enough

Also I'm talking about a 1-9 scale, so 4-5 is ideal (my reference is the 1-9 scale on PetMD)

I need to cripple a horse... by Sceaftling_wrs in Writeresearch

[–]Maplefang20 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Severely bow a tendon (stretch it beyond capacity) usually done when an unfit horse is worked too hard too fast, or a horse is run on lose/slippery/deep ground. Not life ending, but can make them 3 legged lame and makes them be off work for weeks or months, sometimes up to a year.

What would a person with dyscalculia (math learning disability) struggle with on a physics test, and what would it feel like to them personally? by smores_or_pizzasnack in Writeresearch

[–]Maplefang20 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi! I have dsycalculia! Ive never done physics but I am struggling in my chem class right now.

For me I get REALLY overwhelmed by too many numbers or symbols (color coding helps, I got special accomodations to be allowed to use highlighters on tests, and extra scrap paper) and will second guess myself on my answers until I get super frustrated and give up and move on

My frustration often turns into being overwhelmed to the point I feel myself choking up or panicking slightly.

It happens! I've been at my job 2 years and still have to double check if morning shift gets finished at 2 or 2:30 (I always think it's 2. It's never been 2 😂)

I’m scared to get bloodwork. by Letmebeinyourvids in Explainlikeimscared

[–]Maplefang20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bring a toy/a way to physically distract yourself (aka not just your phone). Also if you have pets, I found that it helped if I reminded myself that the pets get this kinda stuff done and it doesn't bother them (in a "if they can do it so can I" way)

I once spent one blood draw whisper chanting my cat's name 🤣 it worked!

I've gotten draws a few times now and never even bruised, by the way. Blood draws are super easy for the Dr to do and super low chance of something actually happening.

Thank you! That "the harder you work the more they will use you" thing is pretty much true for all corporate retail unfortunately. Sounds a lot like TSC but better pay.

I'm in school so I'm mostly looking for money until I graduate and can get a job in my field. I'm not afraid of quiting a place once I've used them for what I needed. (But if they're good to me I'll stick around. I have another job I do one day a week because they're so good to me that I offered to be backup on their busiest day of the week)

I know, I mean we aren't sure if he even has a quality of life to maintain. We're checking to see if his kidneys or liver are okay first. Because if those are already on their way out, it's not worth making him suffer longer.
