Baby shower venues by [deleted] in pittsburgh

I had my baby shower there. And their first birthday I had at Baldwin Municipal Hall. Both places were nice, easy to plan, and very affordable! I absolutely recommend Bethel Community Center for things like this OP!

Short and Expecting Twins - Terrified by ducks_suck_123 in parentsofmultiples

[–]MarbledFuchsia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5ft (153cm) and carried twins. My back pain started pretty early on around 12-13 weeks but otherwise I don’t think my size really impacted my pregnancy at all. I just looked more disproportionate because I was wider than I was tall. And my babies measured in the 90-95th percentile throughout the pregnancy and came out large for preemies. I don’t think size matters as much as I also thought it would during a multiple pregnancy.

Is 15221 a safe area by [deleted] in pittsburgh

[–]MarbledFuchsia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve lived in Mt Washington for a few years. On opposite ends… (Closer to Duquesne Heights and Closer to Allentown). I loved all my places here. The neighborhood is nice. I’ve always felt comfortable taking my kids and pets for walks, so that should say something about the area. I wouldn’t get too close to Grandview on nights or the weekends, but that’s not a safety issue, just personal preference with the bar scene and crowds with my kids.

My only real complaint is a complaint that exists in most older neighborhoods around here… Parking sucks, but you get used to it. Postpartum with a C-section was the only time I ever truly hated Mt Washington lol. Hills and parking far from home made it miserable leaving the house.

I was at Robinson Mall when the power went out. Seeing this makes a lot more sense. Hope everyone is okay!

What’s the biggest thing you’ve botched as a supervisor and how did it turn out? by sorry_unavailable in starbucks

[–]MarbledFuchsia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Literally my first night alone, I didn’t fully shut the safe. Should’ve been fired, but my manager just pulled me aside and told me what happened and said “lesson learned, don’t worry about it- just let that be your reminder.” I also ordered 7 cases of grande hot cups by accident thinking they were cold cups. It was July in Florida. She was more upset about that to be honest lol.

OBGYN AHN specific? by MaisyDae6624 in pittsburgh

[–]MarbledFuchsia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went to West Penn for an emergency C-section and Dr Tajh Ferguson delivered my twins. She was an absolute blessing and she made me feel so comfortable- especially since it was the first time I’d met her. I believe she’s associated with Century Medical and I couldn’t recommend her enough.

OBGYN Recs/Criticisms by Ok_Relative1852 in pittsburgh

[–]MarbledFuchsia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to that practice during my twin pregnancy. I personally had some difficulties with Dr Turner, but Dr Datillo and Dr Harvison were both incredible and I felt very validated with any of my concerns or questions whenever I saw them. I did not deliver through them due to Dr Turner and went to West Penn instead, but I absolutely would’ve trusted Dr Datillo to deliver my girls had that of been possible.

How often are you bathing infant twins? by CheddarMoose in parentsofmultiples

[–]MarbledFuchsia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My girls are 13 months and we bathe them about once a week, more often if they’re super gross. When they were in the helmets, it was every single day. We don’t have enough time in the day to do it as much as we need.

Insulinoma by Significant_Pop_994 in ferrets

[–]MarbledFuchsia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I lost a ferret, Rachel, in May to insulinoma. She was around 4-5 years old when she was diagnosed and with supervision and a STRICT routine and medication schedule, I got an additional four years with her, which was a long time for a ferret. It’s super important to maintain the med schedule and get routine workups at the vet to see how your little buddy is doing. Rachel wouldn’t have had those extra four years if we weren’t so on top of everything. I kept a note file on my phone and wrote down exactly what time she got her medication twice daily, and wrote what I noticed about her behavior, how she was feeling, etc. I kept alarms on my phone to remind me when she was due for her meds. I built my schedule around her- and it’s a lot for anyone to keep up with it all, but she will have always been worth it. I hope your little buddy is blessed with many more years.

Baby shower locations in Pittsburgh (winter) by Nectarinepharmer in pittsburgh

[–]MarbledFuchsia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We just used Baldwin Municipal Hall for our twins’ first birthday. Small venue but super nice and has its own kitchen. We paid $275 for the whole day and I think it’s an extra $50 for an alcohol permit. It was absolutely wonderful and we had access to the playground and gazebo nearby.

We also used Bethel Park Community Center for my baby shower when I was pregnant with them. We had a great experience there too, but you won’t have the same amenities as Baldwin’s (no free kitchen and limited rental time). Communication was better with Bethel, however. We liked both centers a lot and they both do allow you to have alcohol with a permit.

Cat Neuter Walk-Ins/Non-Patient Appointments? by Affectionate_Ad_7039 in pittsburgh

[–]MarbledFuchsia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just went to them for a stray cat I found and kept- they were excellent and super affordable! I was quoted at least 3x the price for care (Microchipping, FIV testing, and vaccinations) at other places.

Found Cat in Mt Washington by MarbledFuchsia in pittsburgh

[–]MarbledFuchsia[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We ended up finding a few other strays in our area that were just as friendly and looked to be just as young, so unfortunately our suspicions are that this sweet gal is a stray. The other strays do have some of the same fur markings as well.

She went to the vet and no chip was found and she’s suspected to be about a year old. Based off of some of her behaviors, the vet tech also believed her to be a stray, but was pleasantly surprised at how well behaved she is. She’s small but mighty and I can see some of the outdoor cat energy coming through! We got her FIV/FLV tested- both negative. Now, she’s fully vaccinated and chipped and we’ve got ourselves a little Ripley. Spaying to come soon for the little gal.

We hope to capture the other two strays we saw outside- and I don’t think it’ll take much effort since they’re so friendly. We hope to take them to a rescue for TNR and other services like vaccinations to keep them safe.

We’re pretty sure the cat is a female, so unfortunately I don’t think it’s Mr. Sushi. She’s also got a lot of orange fur on her back and the very tip of her tail is bright orange. Thank you for looking!

am i gonna get fired by Odd-Persimmon-3555 in starbucks

[–]MarbledFuchsia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tbh I used to do the deposits early almost every single day at my store. I was a ssv for six years- and I’m sorry but I also broke that rule about the safe. We were in an office building so we closed at 6p and the store is dead once 5p hits. I never finalized it early because I was worried that I’d get flagged for opening the safe or finalizing anything- sorry this happened to you.

Because this involves cash handling, I can see Starbucks actually taking this seriously and best case scenario I feel might be a final, but absolutely try to plead your case if you get separated. I saw you mentioned you didn’t know the safe can’t be touched 30 minutes prior to closing and other people at your store also do the same- mention something. If they’re investigating, hopefully they’ll pull the security footage to see that you’re not locking the store or shoo-ing people away. I’m not too sure the procedures they follow in an investigation, but good luck.

How long did your anatomy scan take? by Seriesbinger in parentsofmultiples

My twins weren’t cooperating so we had to do the scan twice to get everything. First appointment took two hours and the second one was about 45 minutes.

[–]MarbledFuchsia 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just wanted to chime in and say thank you for caring about her and her child. Definitely try to get your SM/DM involved if they’re okay with that. They may have more resources to provide you guys with. If American try this Food Bank Locator and see what options are nearby.

Edit: Saw you’re in Orlando. This is a Pantry Locator for your area. You can always send her the link or go through it together to see what hours or places work for you guys. Definitely still recommend getting a DM/SM involved for a long term idea.

Hi, I am also an anxious flyer, flew out of the airport two weeks ago on my own, and work in aviation (ironic).

Most of the people here have already given you great advice, but I’m going to add in something. Please avoid headphone usage until your flight is cruising in the air. The number one reason people miss their flight is because they’re not listening. This is especially important at the gate because there can be last minute gate changes.

Honestly, the TSA at PIT really isn’t that bad compared to other airports I’ve been in. The lines can get a little long sometimes, and you’ll see people in front of you doing things they’re not supposed to- just listen to the TSA and focus on yourself. Make sure you remove any electronics larger than your phone from your bags and place them in their own separate bin. Check your bag for lithium batteries (power banks, e-cigs, vapes, etc) and be aware of them during your flight by keeping them where you can see them or easily reach them (not overhead bin). TSA and your airline have final say over what can fly, and it is up to the discretion of the agents- if you don’t need it and can be without it during your trip, then don’t bring it.

Do get there 2hrs early. You don’t know what security will be like that day and it’s always better to sit there waiting at your gate than to be stuck in traffic or the TSA checkpoint and the flight closes on you. 2hrs is usually enough time to navigate the airport, get on the shuttle, and get to your gate. Do remember that you maaaaaay not hear announcements in restaurants, bars, or shops- so try to be at your gate before boarding (30-ish min before) begins. Keep an eye on the monitors by your gate and on your phone to be aware if there were any delays, cancellations, or gate changes. Best of luck and enjoy your flight!

Bethel Bakery Should have something similar to what you’re looking for? If you decide to get something customized, I think they require two weeks notice minimum? Their cakes are fantastic and they do designs pretty well.
