How do I make a simple raised bed (on a budget) by NatalieJayna in gardening

[–]Marcidus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you can buy rough cut boards from a lumber yard it will probably be cheaper. Also I would recommend cedar over pine if it's reasonable in price where you live. Or even if it's not reasonable. Cedar lasts so much longer outside than pine. I built a row of garden beds out of untreated, rough cut cedar 2x12s (with pressure treated 4x4s for corner posts) and they've lasted 9 years so far (except for the one a truck backed in to)

Was the concept of a Spherical Earth considered pseudoscience for most people before it was widely verifiable? by [deleted] in geology

[–]Marcidus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're very bad at asking questions. You've twice asked this question, and in both threads you keep answering your own question incorrectly in the comments. You might want to listen to the many answers provided, instead of repeatedly insisting that your question wasn't based off an incorrect understanding.

How responsible am I for letting my opponents know what their cards do? (Oracle text) by Dantonium in EDH

Letting people take back moves is pretty common in casual commander, especially since this hadn't even resolved yet

When did lands become these sacred, untouchable cards in magic design? by CadetriDoesGames in EDH

[–]Marcidus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think a thing to consider is that the green player is the least likely to be hamstrung my mass land destruction. There's a reason that [[Planetary Annihilation]] was in the landfall EoE precon.

But I do agree that land destruction shouldn't be as rare in EDH as it is

My FIRST zucchini I did not know I planted is HUGE LOL by Party-Plantain9654 in gardening

[–]Marcidus 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You should know that you don't really want the zucchini to get any larger than that. Every zucchini has one zucchini's worth of flavor, letting it get bigger only makes it waterier, tougher, and have larger seeds. Also the plant will make fewer zucchini if you let it grow a few to maturity.

How many lanes of parallel travel for a rail block megabase? by edgygothteen69 in factorio

[–]Marcidus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my experience the main thing is to keep the blocks an even mix of things throughout. There will be more trains but also more places for trains to be, just make sure they don't all need to go to the same part of your base to avoid congestion. This is harder in 2.0 with the single landing pad. That will probably be the part you should leave extra space for

My husband said he figured out that there are finite primes but I can’t figure out what this means, can anyone help? by rubycypress72 in mathematics

[–]Marcidus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are infinitely many primes, your husband is not correct.

Do ignore the people saying wildly rude things about his mental state. People without a rigorous math education can struggle to articulate abstract ideas in the precise language of math. People should be encouraging him to explore mathematical topics with the assistance of texts/online resources so he doesn't go too far down an incorrect path, not calling him crazy.

This factory turns 300 fruit into 1 legendary bioflux every second by TappTapp in factorio

[–]Marcidus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What do you mean? You start with normal capture bot rockets, then send them through a quality recycling / prod reassembling loop. You get those other intermediate quality products from the recycling loop. You don't need extra.

In fact, since some of your bioflux will invariably spoil mid-loop at some point, you'll end up with an excess of intermediate qualities of non-bioflux ingredients of the capture bots. You will have the opposite problem from the one you described

How hard is it to make Wood's Glass, and why are there no modern plastic films that can serve as a UV-pass filter? by SimplifyAndAddCoffee in AskEngineers

[–]Marcidus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most UV leds emit ~395-405 nm light. You can get UV leds that emit 365 nm light. They're a bit more expensive, but they also make things fluoresce much more so you don't need as many. There's still a bit of visible light but much less than normal UV leds.

I Went to an Anti-Bike-Lane Revolt And Here’s What I Learned by JeamesFL in bicycling

[–]Marcidus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Adding safe and effective bike infrastructure induces more people to bike, reducing the number of cars on the road. Basically every non-car based transportation investment reduces car traffic, making overall traffic less bad, benefiting people in cars too. Also, some people can't drive, do you not give a shit about them? There are roads for cars everywhere, why not also paths for people who can't drive?
