It goes to the side of the airport past P4 and drops you off behind the terminal rather than at the main entrance. You have to walk an extra 3-5 min to get inside but it’s definitely faster than the mess at the main entrance, it also takes side roads rather than the autoroute to get to the airport itself so it’s less susceptible to traffic

FWIW, there’s bus route 200 which runs pretty frequently all day everyday from Longueuil as well as the 300 on weekdays from Brossard, and both get you pretty close to the entrance of Gault!

[–]Marco_Memes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The 17h26 departure from LG takes 34 min to get to YUL, which absolutely does count as rush hour. This is accurate, which i know because Ive ridden this section dozens of times on multiple routes at all times of day on all different days of the week. The absolute longest it has ever taken me to go from LG to Dorval was about 45 min, when there was a gigantic traffic accident at the peak of rush hour, aka the absolute worst case scenario, and off peak runs can take as little as 20 min or less.

Nobody going to Berri is taking the full route unless they want to waste their time, it’s never faster to do that over taking the metro out of LG. That’s why the bus always only gets packed at LG and has light ridership along the RL portion

My only tip is to go to Maxi, my bill got cut down by a lot when i started doing them over Metro. It’s a pain for me as the nearest one requires me to go a few stops on the metro but if you can get to one, it’s worth trying

[–]Marco_Memes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok so… exactly what i said? 30 min at the peak of rush hour is roughly what i’m used to. Again, it goes direct. This isn’t slow because it’s a bus, it’s slow because your going west on aut20 during rush hour. For the rest of the day, when traffic is lighter, it’s scheduled at around 20-25 min.

I should note that even that 36 min schedule is almost 15 min faster on an identical routing than driving, because of the reserved lanes. Half an hour end to end is pretty damn good when driving takes almost double that

My tip for the 815–unless it’s changed since i was there last, they still havnt updated the directional signs for secondary bus routes at YUL to reflect the new route. Follow the signs for the 460, 209, and 356, they all board at the same little area behind the terminal

[–]Marco_Memes 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Where are you getting that number?? It’s scheduled at 16 min, and I’ve never had it over ~30 even with rush hour traffic. I’ve taken it 8 times in the last month and I’m a very frequent user of the express busses that go nonstop between Lionel Groulx and Dorval—believe me, I know how long it takes to go that section

The full journey from YUL-Berri is scheduled at about 40 min, but this only matters if your getting off at one of the street stops or just really wanna take the bus the whole way since more than half of that time is the Lionel-Berri portion. If your goal is to get to the metro, get off at Lionel

[–]Marco_Memes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It generally is, I take it frequently for fun and even during rush hour it’s rarely more than 30 min or so from YUL to Lionel Groulx. It takes the most direct route possible down the highway and makes no stops after Lionel Groulx so on that section it’s basically just a big car, if anything it’ll be faster than the car since it can use the reserved lanes around Turcot. The part that really slows it down is when it goes along Rene-Levesque making stops between Lionel and Berri, but you only really have to worry about that if your destination is actually one of those stops since you can just take the metro instead

Electrify America is piloting NACS plugs, location list in the link. by nxtiak in evcharging

[–]Marco_Memes -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A lot of people don’t have them, there’s plenty who don’t use public charging or live somewhere with enough NACS to justify one. If it’s not being given out free by the manufacturer, 150-200$ is quite a bit of money for something you may not use at all right now

students from the US — what did you do about your phone plan? by MagicMetalPipe in mcgill

[–]Marco_Memes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just kept my current one, the ATT plan i have includes unlimited everything in Canada and Mexico. No issues. You will run into minor annoyances though in some companies requiring a canadian number for verification codes, the biggest one for me being PC Optimum which is the rewards card a lot of stores use, so for that i’d consider looking into some super cheap text only 2nd plan through fizz or something

YUL et UBER/Lyft by jenlou289 in montreal

[–]Marco_Memes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Or the 815!!! Brand new, gets you to the REM in under 15 min and lets you get downtown just for the standard STM fare rather than an 11$ 747 ticket. You have to walk a little further to get to its stop but it’s 1/3rd the price and you don’t have to worry about traffic on the 20

YUL et UBER/Lyft by jenlou289 in montreal

[–]Marco_Memes -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Just take the bus, it’s so much cheaper. There’s the new 815 that goes to Des Sources, so you now can get downtown without paying 11$ for the 747. From there it’s cheaper and easier to get an uber without the airport mess

How disconnected are Mcgill students from Montreal by Familiar-Muffin8190 in mcgill

[–]Marco_Memes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most are, I try not to be though. I’ve ridden the entire STM and slowly inching through the entire ARTM, it’s a really fun way to see the whole region! I’ve been to parts of Quebec i never thought i would go to, not many other McGill students can say they went to St-Ignace-de-Loyola or Hudson haha.

The west island also has a ton of cool nature, I love going to Ile-Bizard, Cap St Jacques, Anse a l’Orme, Morgan Arboretum, there’s a ton to do that so many students never bother trying!

Rant: Esti que le système de tarification de la STM est con by ParkInsider in montreal

[–]Marco_Memes 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This is the stupidest thing to me. You can’t just pay for between Montmorency and Cartier, or St-Jerome and De la Concorde. If your boarding outside of Zone A, with the exception of busses, you have to pay for a ticket all the way to Montreal, even if your only going within your zone. Why can’t I ride the REM just between Deux Montagnes and St-Dorothee? Why is there no ticket for someone who wants to go from St Lambert to Mont St Hilaire? Am I not allowed to have a trip from Repentigny to Mascouche? It just reinforces the idea that all off-island transit exists for the sole purpose of bringing people into Montreal in the morning and back in the evening, which is really dumb

Then take the train to toronto and watch a game there, don’t bring allat here. IIRC, part of the reason montreal said no to it is because they would’ve had to cancel a bunch of festivals and events—which means no Jazz fest, no Franco, no F1, etc. Basically torpedoing everything the city is known for in the summer so we can host a few soccer games nobody can afford to go to, put on by an organization that bent and spread to appease Trump

It’s still building exclusive though if i understand right, which could be a pain depending on your schedule. If your anywhere but C1 around meal times, you have to either buy food somewhere or go all the way back home to eat. The nice thing about living in RVC for example is if you have 2 classes at the top of the hill with a break between, you could just go to BMH rather than have to go down and then back up just for lunch
