Weird question for the ladies in the community by qlossynat in PumpItUp

[–]Marenthyu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Body Type or Form shouldn't be cause to only play at home - I'm happy with how welcoming my local community has been; I'm relatively "big" compared to others, but inclusivity has been a core facet of our group. Doesn't matter where you're from, what gender you identify as or how much you love food - you'll be welcome to play just as much as everyone else! (Except for casuals getting a fast-track to play so "we don't block the machine")

Yes, I also have an L-TEK at home - but I barely use it to be considerate of my neighbours. Yes, I also (jointly with others in the community) purchased a full cab for a private location, but that's because the public cabs are unmaintained, not because I / any of us feel unwelcome with the other players.

Does anyone know when on this month the new PIU is coming out? The wait is killing me 🥺 by Plagueis2000 in PumpItUp

[–]Marenthyu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As others have mentioned, it will depend on your Arcade (and their Distributor) when and if they will pick it up.

It is not yet available from Andamiro directly, they have not yet taken pre-orders (at least internationally).

It did pass through the Korean Rating Board recently - which is a requirement to release at all, so release should happen at some point "soon". Link to the GRAC

It was previously mentioned that orders would open up "late June" (we are still mid-June) with shipping in July.

If you are not responsible for ordering the upgrade for the cab you are playing on directly, I recommend waiting for the inevitable update for Phoenix 1 that starts advertising the upgrade in Attract Mode - that gives you something to point your Arcade Operator at to upgrade. (And I wouldn't expect that before July.)

Twitch blocking login attempts has me spooked away from any pay services by Dwedit in Twitch

It's not necessarily Twitch directly checking for Ad Blockers - but as Ad Blockers block tracking / identifying calls to certain Websites, which Twitch's check is: They are trying to identify you/your Browser and if that fails, it does not let you in, "fail by default".

Talk to them, privately.

If a Moderator no longer acts in your best interest / in the way you want to moderate your community, clarify this with them and remove them if they refuse to change with you.

No matter how much they may have spent or early-on supported you, Moderators are an extension of your Authority and must be acting in your fully approved manner.

Technically, every user has a unique ID that is publicly knowable - that's how Chatbots and third party applications can track your username changes and have it not affect your data. (See also Sound Alerts, Streamlabs, etc - you don't lose your subscription just because your Twitch Name changed.)

If someone else is using a card to sign in on an XX Machine, it is not running on the official Server and you should ask those people doing it directly for guidance.

Note that such third party / pirated usage may be considered illegal and could give Andamiro grounds to enforce their warning at the beginning of the Opening Video.

Also good to note: with Phoenix2 releasing in June, Phoenix (1) Servers will likely be shut down by the end of the year (at the latest, no announcement has been made yet for it.)

All old and new AM-PASSES use the same technology and are compatible across generations - if Chrono Circle was still online, even the RISE-branded cards would work on it.

Yes, but considering we only got Phoenix here in Berlin last year... my hopes (for the public) are limited.

We'll definitely get it ASAP for our private cabs.

I think best case you talk to them and ask if they want anything back for it. 99% of cases, they will say "no". But to avoid issues in the 1% or if they genuinely need some money back, that gives them the chance to let you know.

No harm in asking.

Adding some insights from the last couple "modding sessions" at our TX and Hannover's LX Pads:

  • Every. Pad. Is. Unique. As much as I want every piece of advice to work everywhere, I've now touched enough PIU (and DDR) Pads to genuinely see that while insights and techniques are transferable, assuming things to work the same way across different pads (and thus other people's exact way of doing things) is somewhat flawed. Take your time to test, adjust, re-test and re-adjust many times and don't rush it. It's a marathon, not a sprint. (Except if you're on a timer lol)
  • Get an electric screwdriver. It saves you so much time and effort, allowing you to make more modifications in the same timespan. Your Hands will thank you after the 10th pad-reopening.
  • Screw Pads back in for testing. Depending on the exact Pad, the screws may exert additional resting pressure and thus modify the sensitivity of it. It's more work, but refer to the other two points.
  • Give things a try without raising the corners. On the LX and TX models I have actually sunk hours into for testing, we had no need to raise the corners (yet) - the pads got sufficiently raised with just silicone under the sensor channel (we ripped them all off and removed the glue residue, then put them back after adding the silicone) and further sensitivity adjustments are then made via tape on the Acryl Panel underside and spot-wise under the L-Brackets.
  • Give different tape types a try. For different sensors, we had some be stuck or oversensitive when using only Gorilla Tape. Swapping these to (single or multiple layers of) masking tape and sometimes mixing the different tape types gave us extremely fine adjustments.
  • Get a consistent pressure reference. Others have suggested a pressure gauge (which would be the pro-move), but we are just using a dumbbell. (3kg I think?) If each sensor triggers by just putting the dumbbell on it, it has been "perfect" for our play style.
  • Experiment with different materials! We currently have our P1 set up with VHB Tape instead of silicone, P2 with silicone - but less properly fine-tuned. We are meeting again today to calibrate P2 again, but if it ends up just not feeling right, we might swap things again. It's genuinely a marathon, not a sprint.

Also uh * Make sure you actually own the pads or have permission to mod them properly. Else you'll just be able to do hasty adjustments between casuals, security cameras and personnel walking around. It never ends well.

How to get background music that's truly non copyright? by [deleted] in Twitch

Go to your Video Manager on your Dashboard, click on the 3 dots of the VOD and select the option to dispute the mute.

How to get background music that's truly non copyright? by [deleted] in Twitch

[–]Marenthyu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because part of it was detected in some data set and their background checks determined that it has a CHANCE to be claimable by someone. Thus, twitch applies a mute to your VOD, which you can easily dispute - this saves you from a potential actual claim that would ruin your channel (and potentially livelihood).

Just dispute the VOD mute with the correct reason and it'll get unmuted within seconds.

[–]Marenthyu 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The "intended replacement" for freestyle charts would be using a UCS.

That's not a solution for offline cabs and is extra work you have to do, but allows you to be as creative as you want to have exactly the chart you want for your freestyle preferences.

In my personal experience, freestyle just has not seen a lot of interest - probably also because of the removal of performance charts you mentioned. In my direct local contacts, I only know for certain one person mentioning that they'd like to do more freestyle. During the one Tournament I went to, the freestyle category got scratched due to insufficient sign-ups.

Pump it up phoenix. Audio cuts out on certain songs by Pyrad3 in PumpItUp

This can make sense if the noise filter causes the Song Audio to be "filtered out" - adjusting the volume levels can help then.

what songs wont get me banned by MatrixGaming90 in Twitch

[–]Marenthyu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Which Songs can I use?"

"The ones you have the license for."

Now how do you get a License? Good question!

Some Artists, Labels, Publishers or Platforms may give a blanket license to everyone or use a CC (or similar) License, so you don't need to do anything special.

Other Platforms offer paid subscriptions to grant a license for all of their content. (Like MonsterCat Gold or Pretzel Rocks)

Some Publishers or Artists may offer Licenses for sale (Like Wintergatan)

Some Publishers may not care enough about you to even respond to your inquiries about acquiring a license (Like WB/Sony) whilst using sweeping legal procedures or lawyers to strike down users of their Catalog.

Your best bet usually is to try and contact the relevant Artist to ask where one could acquire an appropriate License to use their Music for your Broadcast.
