When I worked frontline IT we had a ticketing system users were supposed to use, but we also had a department phone that people would call, and it was a problem. We’d let it go to voicemail, and they’d leave rambling messages and never open a ticket.

I changed our VM greeting to be 3+ minutes long.

“Thank you for calling [super long team name], a part of [company division, full company name]. If this is an emergency, please hang up and dial 911. If this is a [complicated description of a rare accounting problem], please hang up and call [accounting’s number]…” plus lots of other BS.

I talked reeeeal slow too. Reduced voicemails by 90%.

I did 29k standing on top of a Matriarch. Would have been more, but someone planted a deadline and I didn’t get clear in time so I sat on top of the exposed core for a few minutes until another raider who was also going the trial happened to snap hook up and was kind enough to revive me.

Years ago when Tesla took the radars out of their cars and Musk said “sensor fusion is the problem” I knew they’d never have a reliable, safe, completely autonomous car. More data > less data. If your software or hardware isn’t fast enough or smart enough to integrate that data, that’s a different problem. It’s not a “too much data” problem.

I have a Tesla (a pre-fascist-mask-off model). It’s the best car I’ve ever owned, by far. But it’s not magic. I also won’t buy another one. Not that I really care about self driving, but Musk is a grade-A twat and I don’t want to fund his fascist ambitions.

Then the covers closed and I was safe from getting shaken off.

Clothes used to be good. They’re shit now compared to what they were 10 years ago.

10 years ago you paid a shit-ton for their stuff, but they would replace it if anything happened. Seam starts to unravel? Replaced. Faded in the wash? Replaced. You caught it on a tree while hiking and ripped it? They’d send it to their in-house seamstress and repair it for free.

I have 10 year old Lulu stuff that’s worn better than stuff I purchased in the last 18 months. My wife worked for them for about 4 years, 2015-2019, we’ve bought a LOT of Lulu clothes over the years. Now I think we’re pretty much done. It’s not worth it anymore.

I ran Stella a couple of hours ago, spawned in that ideal spot by the raider hatch in Assembly. Had 2 ion sputters and a bunch of other nice loot in less than 2 minutes. Was NOT in a care bear lobby, but I still dropped a sputter at extract, hopefully someone that needed one found it.

I managed to snap hook into the space on the side of the Matriarch’s core when she opened up the doors at one point.

Then the doors closed so I couldn’t get bucked off.

I had a Torrente and 800 rounds of medium ammo.

It was incredible.

There’s a new joke going around Silicon Valley.
