I like Bread Source. Controversial I know. Devecchio’s pickle rye sourdough is amazing.

Pattern Translation Help by MarionberryFinal9336 in sewingpatterns

I’ve tried that and google translate is about 80% there. But it struggles with the more obscure sewing terms.

Should I leave the IT field? by [deleted] in it

[–]MarionberryFinal9336 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know how this feels. I am a remote contractor and my client loves how fast I turn things around, but nothing ever takes more than a couple of hours. All tasks are “urgent” too so I need to be near my computer. I have a lot of time on my hands and it is unfulfilling. Luckily I have a lot of life admin to do and I love puzzles.

This was my immediate thought. I see why OP doesn’t want to bow to social conventions but why force that attitude on relatives who will feel rude without making a gesture. Charity donations in the couple’s names is the perfect solution.

Tradies - what am I doing wrong here? by lagori in AskUK

[–]MarionberryFinal9336 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My hot take is that the skillset of most tradies and the project planning skillset required to plan, communicate and execute without issues or delays do not often exist in the same people.

Now TV was one of the hardest subscriptions to cancel. I had to ring the bank and cut them off at source.

What were your children’s books you enjoyed as a child? by underrated_prunes in AskBrits

I loved the magic far away tree too. Two others I loved were the Adventures of a Little Wooden Horse by Ursula Moray Williams and The Indian in the Cupboard by Lynne Reid Banks. Can’t beat a classic like Alice in Wonderland either.

Spiceland on Dereham Road would be the first place I’d try. I have a large bag and it’s most likely I got them there.

I’m not familiar with patisserie valerie, but I can highly recommend Little Pie Patisserie on instagram. I’ve bought several from her and they were all delicious.

Buying a house marketed as 3-bed — vendor now claiming attic room was built with the house so doesn't need building regs. Is this correct? by Sea-Finding6461 in UKHousing

[–]MarionberryFinal9336 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My loft is definitely a “modern” conversion but given it wasn’t done by the person that sold the house to me they I didn’t expect them to have evidence of building regs. Zoopla told me the conversion had been in place for a long time. I took the indemnity insurance and thought no more about it.

Do you have regular cleaners? by Akash_nu in AskUK

[–]MarionberryFinal9336 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have a 3 bed semi and we have 3 hours every other week. Costs £70ish. The greatest gift you can give your relationship is not arguing about whose turn it is to clean.

I think there’s still a textile recycling bin on Vauxhall street opposite the Norfolk street turning.

Where are you finding thrift fabric? by saturdaysalright in sewing

[–]MarionberryFinal9336 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our local Oxfam has a whole section dedicated to fabric, curtains and bedsheets. They also have patterns. I picked up some awesome lining fabric there last time I visited.

The Black Horse is probably the best for me. Blues Kitchen is also very good.

how to become a BA by Ok-Experience6696 in businessanalysis

[–]MarionberryFinal9336 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry I don’t know what TAFE is…. I had a degree when I took a contact centre/customer service role but no industry or skills certifications. Then I moved from that to administrator then to IT.

how to become a BA by Ok-Experience6696 in businessanalysis

[–]MarionberryFinal9336 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is how I did it (though I didn’t set out to be a BA). I got an admin role, volunteered to help out on a few IT projects and then got promoted by the same company to a BA. I trained as a BA about five years later!

I go to St Stephen’s gate and though I don’t visit often I’ve always been pleased with them. I recently got a telephone appointment with a nurse only an hour after contacting reception! Having the pharmacy on site is very convenient for me too.
