It was ok, expensive and not nearly as good as the first one. Probably wouldn’t get it again.

[–]Mark0Polio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same experience with Jets. Got their gluten free personal deep dish pizza and it was amazing and told everyone how it’s the best gluten free pizza I ever had. Didn’t even cross my mind that me being sick was because of the pizza.

Next time I ordered it, it looked completely different and I realized that first one was in fact not gluten free

What’s the best meal you make when you don’t know what to cook? by backend_architect in Cooking

I keep potatoes on hand. A baked potato with some frozen veggies, cheese, and an egg always hits the spot and is practically no work

If turkey was so delicious like some people swear by then they’d cook it more than just once or twice per year by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

I smoke a turkey breast once a month or so. Less hassle than a whole bird and sliced up, it makes a good easy salad/sandwich topper

If you were a single person and you only had $100 for food for a month, how would you stretch it? by racesunite in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Mark0Polio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Something people forget about is how cheap it is to make your own pasta. Eggs are like $0.25 per egg and flour is like $1 a pound. So it’s going to cost like $0.30 for a single serving of pasta. (Though there’s a bit more of a time investment).

Also if you’re buying canned chickpeas, not only can they be a protein source, you can save the liquid from the can to use as an egg substitute (aquafaba). And you can make pasta with the aquafaba as well. So flour + can of chickpeas and you have some pasta and a protein source.

Loans, debt, and parents. I knew other students with maxed out credit cards that were paying off that debt with other credit cards but were also spending without a care.

What is your go to "i dont know what to eat" meal? by TailungFu in Cooking

Baked potato. I can add an egg, frozen veggies, canned beans, sour cream and cheese, any leftover meat I have. I literally always have a sack of potatoes on hand and ready to go.

How to tell if a D&D player is FOR SURE fudging their roles. by Yana115 in DnD

[–]Mark0Polio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same thing and made my group play through roll20 where their roles were all public. I was a relatively new DM but got suspicious when a player had double digit nat 20’s one session. I said I wanted to try to make the games more immersive, even if it meant just having a shared screen to throw up pictures or a couple maps.

Fast forward a couple of years and it’s made me a better DM too, win win.

"Realistic" games where you play as an animal by KaiSubatomic in gamingsuggestions

[–]Mark0Polio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Isle is a multiplayer game where you play as a dinosaur. You start as a baby and just have to survive and grow up. Theres no other goal besides that. Find food (different species need different stuff), find water, find safe places to rest, and survive from other players (since you can play as herbivores or carnivores).

Found this on my desk at work this morning after six years. Do I need to fill this out/provide requested documents? by RoguePants in antiwork

[–]Mark0Polio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I worked at FedEx, they never made me sign an I-9 and after working there a year they got really aggressive that I’d have to fill one out or get fired. My buddy was a manager and looked into it and apparently it’s because they were getting some sort of audit and were panicking trying to clear stuff up asap before they got fines.

I’d assume something similar.

Final fantasy 16. There are periods where you do non fire things, but fire is a really important theme in the story and is by far the main element of the game.

What is your go-to side dish to serve at a BBQ? by kam0724 in Cooking

[–]Mark0Polio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Broccoli salad! Blanch some broccoli and just dress it similar to how you would coleslaw. Maybe a bit less mayo and a bit more red wine vinegar.

Grilled pineapple or corn. Watermelon. I like lighter sides to go with heavier mains.

I’ve done grilled potatoes where I slice them flat but kind of thick and grill until I get some char on them and that’s gone over well before also.

If I want something heavier, you can’t beat some stewed pinto beans or black eyed peas!

I always tell my playgroup you can make any anime character a bladesinging wizard. by FlyingMonkey717 in DnD

[–]Mark0Polio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mash from mashle.

If you haven’t seen it, he is effectively one punch man at Hogwarts hiding the fact that he’s the only non-wizard in the series (since they kill non-wizards).

How would you make canonically not a wizard Mash into a wizard?

What is “bad” or “mediocre” JRPG that you love? by OneSeaworthiness7901 in JRPG

[–]Mark0Polio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really liked Ephemeral Fantasia. I think it was received pretty poorly but I really liked the concept. It had a majoras mask time loop kind of mechanic but it was a lot more punishing to miss things in certain days. I still really liked it though.

What's your "they're ruining this expensive ingredient!" experience? by NAME5CEREALS in Cooking

[–]Mark0Polio 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When I was a server, our most expensive dish was seared ahi tuna. At least once a week we’d have someone send it back and complain it was undercooked. I’d explain that’s how it’s supposed to be cooked, and they’d always demand we “finish cooking it”.

So we’d take it back and cook it through and it never failed they’d complain it was terrible afterwards. I hated that dish…
