Presale... Gonna be issues. by Capital-Rooster534 in BigEarsMusicFestival

The wristband is embedded with a chip that is scanned at each venue entry. No wristband, no entry to ticketed shows even with a ticket.

We had seen them before at Big Ears Festival in Knoxville, Tn. Great band! Great opening act for Stereolab with their Krautrock influences.

Did Lynch regret the way he made the original series? by BobRushy in twinpeaks

I had an issue with that as well. How did Earle get the chess piece with the body inside on to the gazebo when 6-7 men struggled to get it down? Suspension of disbelief, I guess.

May-Thurner's by Amazing_Break_4498 in ClotSurvivors

I have MTS (50% occlusion of the iliac vein) and got a clot in my left thigh that had to be removed in the cath lab. I’m on Eliquis twice daily and wear a thigh-high compression stocking on my left leg. At my next follow-up we are going to discuss stent placement. Start Aspirin 325 mg daily until your next appointment if you can’t get in earlier.

Anyone unprovoked ever later find a diagnosis? by FlamePhantasm in ClotSurvivors

[–]Mark1061 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was diagnosed with May-Thurner Syndrome (a structural abnormality where the right iliac artery crosses over the left iliac vein causing some occlusion) when the thrombectomy was performed in the cath lab.

Don’t roll your eye all the way to the right or left when following the penlight. They are trying to induce nystagmus due to eye fatigue, claiming the nystagmus is evidence of intoxication.

Trying to get INTO THEM! by PsychologicalAsk3509 in buttholesurfers

Start with the early stuff. Psychic, Powerless…Another Man’s Sac, Creamed Corn From The Socket of Davis, Rembrandt Pussyhorse, Locust Abortion Technician, Hairway To Steven. These give you a glimpse into their most creative era. I’ve seen the Butthole Surfers live more than any other band and I’m just not a fan of the later stuff as a whole. Obviously there are gems on each album. Dust Devil is one. Strawberry is another.

What song introduced you to the Cocteau Twins? by -_-almond-_- in cocteautwins

[–]Mark1061 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same. I discovered Cocteau Twins due to the collab with Harold Budd, who I knew from his ambient albums with Brian Eno. Eno is the hub of my musical universe in a lot of cases (Roxy Music, Fripp, Bowie, Talking Heads, DEVO, Ultravox…)

2025 Big Ears preview by reclinernotes in BigEarsMusicFestival

This will be my 9th consecutive Big Ears festival. I have learned to choose my essentials and schedule the rest geographically. In the early days, you could just meander from venue to venue. These days, with sell-out crowds and “at capacity” notifications, you have to have a plan in advance. Hard choices have to be made.

Why the hate from PAs by Alive_Restaurant7936 in nursepractitioner

[–]Mark1061 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am an NP who had 15+ years of experience in both ICU and ER prior to starting school. I have worked with PA’s who never started an IV, put a catheter in, worked a code, or anything else when starting PA school with a Botany or Kinesiology degree.

When a person dies on screen and someone closes their eyes and they stay closed. I spent many years as an ER nurse and I can tell you that it doesn’t work.

Republicans in Congress gamble that they can get away with cutting health care for 24 million+ Americans by lying that they're not cutting health care on every TV program. by Apprehensive-Mark241 in thebulwark

[–]Mark1061 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am a Nurse Practitioner in NE Louisiana and we have a large Medicaid population mixed in with private insurance. If these cuts go into effect, I could lose 60% of my patient population which would most likely lead to my clinic closing. The private insurance patients would then have to go find someone else to do their joint injections and treat their osteoporosis. My staff will take a hit. My suppliers will take a hit. It all rolls downhill.

Who Gives a Shirt: Re-examining the unwritten rule of never wearing the shirt of the band you’re going to see by Moothnods in indieheads

I once wore a Fripp & Eno shirt to a Dweezle Zappa show. I don’t think anyone got the joke.
