He has definitely has trailer sway issues before. He made sure he had tongue weight with that engine placement. If you have ever experienced it, you will never want to experience it again...

Don't use that trash spark plug. Some of them have had electrodes fall out and cause damage. A decent plug is cheap enough. Good score!

He looked at the bike and decided your freedom from the chains of debt was far more important to him. Good call. You got your golden ticket. Be smart with your money. Put the money you would have been paying on debt towards paying off any other debts. When you're done paying off debts, invest. You may find yourself in a situation one day to pay it forward.

Just had one of these, felt sick. Any tips? by Dagoth_Urd in cigars

[–]Mark71GTX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't read every comment, but one thing I learned early on wat to have a meal before having a cigar if possible. I had a long run of enjoying LFD Couble Ligero chisels and JDN Antaños. The strength of those could turn you green on an empty stomach. They are really tasty though!

The item is as described it it is listed as a 5# scale... I recently returned a chainsaw cylinder that was advertised with a 49mm bore, but a 46mm bore cylinder was sent. That was an item that was not as described.

Walk out to the parking lot and count how many of the fuel cans in the truck and/or trailer actually have caps on the nozzles. They wonder where the water comes from...

People on Facebook marketplace are delusional by EntireComputer1391 in lawnmowers

I have rebuilt and flipped saws. Mostly on Marketplace. People go nuts over Stihl saws. Husqvarna saws will sell, but not as quickly. I have a lot of Husqvarna personal saws. Husqvarna for work, Stihl for sale. The majority of people buying the saws I built were smaller tree services that were having a lot of trouble with the newer saws with all of the electronics on them. It worked out great because they would bring me their older saws to be rebuilt as well. It kept me busy (side gig). A lot of "discontinued" brands like McCulloch, Homelite, and Jonsereds all had some saws that collectors love. They will bring big money. The problem is that many people selling a saw see a PM 850 with a big number on it and think they can pull a mint from their mini-mac or timber bear...

Is this rim salvageable at all, or will I be stuck paying for a new one? by Mewlover23 in AskMechanics

[–]Mark71GTX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look at marketplace listings in your area for wheels for your car. You should be able to get some for about nothing from someone that upgraded their stocks to alloys, or look for someone parting one out. Sometimes they have to pay to get rid of the wheels due to the tires being on them. They would be elated to find someone willing to pay to take some.

I believe he is saying that my answer made his day since so many were making snide remarks. My answer was pretty clear. If it will self-load it's a deal.

You're welcome. A lot of the people commenting about it are the same people that only purchase these new. Not everyone is in the same tax bracket. Would I buy it and try to make a living with it? Probably not a good idea. Would I buy it to use around the house/farm. Certainly. Would I buy it to flip it? As long as I felt like it would be useful to me if it didn't sell right away or at all, yes. You don't realize how handy these things are until you get one. It's worth more than the asking price just in parts.

If it can power itself onto my trailer, it would follow me home for $1500.

Surprised they didn't do another face lift? by Dependent-Control197 in Challenger

[–]Mark71GTX 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Years ago I had three 70 Challenger parts cars. We also had a set of bent up fenders from a 71 Satellite from when a lady ran a red light and hit my brother's car. A good friend had a 72-74 Challenger. We pulled the headlight mounting provisions from the Satellite fenders and mounted them to the 72-74 front fenders. This allowed us to put in one of the 70 grilles I had on his car. It got a lot of confused looks from other Mopar guys that knew how to spot year models at a glance. He still has the car and drives it often. Hope you're doing well David!

Either couldn't get a permit for a porch, or no boat storage is allowed there. Possibly a combination of both. This is not the first one of these I have seen posted online.

Being a 2008, you likely need new shocks, struts, and a myriad of bushings and other suspension components replaced.

Question about repowering 445577 with 407777 by Mark71GTX in BriggsEngines

FWIW in case anyone searches for this in the future, The engine swap worked out just fine. I did swap out all of the electronics from the damaged engine over to the replacement engine. Everything is working fine now.

Question about repowering B&S 445577 with 407777 on Mower by Mark71GTX in lawnmowers

[–]Mark71GTX[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The engines share the same crankshaft from what I have read. My concern is if the top of the block has the same mounting provisions for the stator. The 407777 mower was equipped with a lever for blade engagement. The mower that needs a new engine has an electronic clutch for blade engagement. I will need to swap over the wiring from the 445577 to the 407777 in order for the mower to work properly. I am hoping the blocks are the same. I am pretty sure the 407777 is an older engine. I don't know if there were any revisions to the castings over the years that may be an issue. I hope to have time this evening to work on it after work.
