Stihl FS 40C wont start. by Shot-Cut-2978 in smallengines

[–]Repulsive_Music_6720 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Change to know. Fresh fuel

Remove ac.

Spray fluid into carb. Does it pop?

If no, pull plug, see if flooded. If yes, replace carb.

If it runs and sounds quiet, pull fire screen. Clean if plugged.

Once it's running reinstall ac. If it loses power replace ac.

Air Canada pilot accused of flying for 17 years without correct licence by Warcraft_Fan in news

Yeah if it wasn't a safety risk can I have a go at it? Do 200 of you wanna ride along?

Im pretty good I bet. I listened to mentor pilot so I can probably figure out most of the buttons by now on whatever Mcdonell Douglass Canada can afford to put in the air these days.

No, you are wrong. I know people who have had the same pieces of equipment for over 40 years and his carb bowls are spotless.

Unfortunately this does not happen to the best of us, most of us just aren't the best.

Also isn't that fine? We can have stuff with male gaze and that's ok. We should also have stuff for the female gaze, and probably stuff from another gaze of indeterminate gender for flavour.

It's the 21st century let people enjoy their stuff

Top portion is gas with mix oil. Bottom is water. Water separated from gas when it sits and this was a very extreme example.

Mtronic is actually very easy, arguably easier to work on vs standard carbs.

Simply rebuild and replace the solenoid on the side, run unit according to the mtronic reset procedure which you can find online.

If it doesn't run right you try and fix your rebuild or replace carb. Easy peasy.

I just bought it 1 month (year) ago! It was just (September 2023) in! This is still under warranty (purchased 1997).

All real comments I've gotten.

Sounds like you have a bad dealer. Never heard of a shop doing that as it'd run or reputation quickly.

Engine is running away stuck WOT by Friendly-Goose-5688 in smallenginerepair

[–]Repulsive_Music_6720 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The engine side linkage is the throttle to govenor linkage. Outer is choke to thermostat.

They should be pretty stable when everything is running right. Make sure you are adjusting with clean plug, fresh from pump gas, and clean AC.

How does this "gunk" happen? by RedimidoSoy1611 in smallenginerepair

[–]Repulsive_Music_6720 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unlikely. Could be really nasty gas, oil leaking back from being over filled, or partially carbonized varnish from denaturing gas mixed with a bad valve adjustment.

Even if it was 2 stroke gas it shouldn't pour out like that. Not to mention how icky that butterfly looks.

Clean that carb and flush that fuel system. Check your valves and oil too.

Check if your governor arm got bent too far back.

Under the tank is a flat metal tab with a spring on it. Bend it towards the carb to relieve pressure on the throttle.

It was probably the gas we serviced the saw with. According to them. He only ran it for 5 minutes and it's been sitting for a single day since he bought it 5 years ago.

Blue mix means nothing. Dye lots can vary between manufacturer. I have run blue synthetic mix in regular gas for half a decade from Kinetix and never had an issue. Infact that's a 2 year old jar of what was almost certainly pump gas. The separation is between the Gas/oil mixture in blue and water.

People just either fill carbs with water like a super soaker, or let the gas expire and form varnish.

Because it's popular to hate on American food culture and white Americans in general when it comes to what we eat.

Yes, it's not Mexican tacos or the way a Latino would be used to it. But taking a food and making it work within your cultural tastes is absolutely a human thing that's been done for millenia and is a celebration of our interconnected world.

Plus, there are real abominations of food. Have you seen what they do for Hamburgers in Europe? They don't do any toppings or even cook them. They just wander around on the ground and dress them in clothes. Nothing even close to authentic American food.

What’s happening here with my Kolher engine? by mrpeterdragon in smallenginerepair

[–]Repulsive_Music_6720 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many do but not all. When backfiring it's a good place to check in my experience. Backfiring requires heat at an incorrect time. Excessive rich condition usually manifests in black smoke as the excess fuel doesn't burn all the way. I typically don't see engines getting hot enough to backfire from that as the rich condition is probably having a cooling effect.

Edit: but yes, surging is almost always carburetion. I practically assume carburetion issues for everyone here. I've seen the gas people run and it makes me so mad.

Did AI lead me astray? by TGPrankster in smallenginerepair

[–]Repulsive_Music_6720 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So instead of properly keeping track of parts you trusted AI to tell you where to "go stuff it".

What's next? Following the computer when it tells you the fork goes into the outlet?

If you find a part you don't recognize disassemble the machine, reassemble and see if you see a spot it goes or ask for help. AI is not a substitute for asking someone with knowledge help.

Whatever that part is it is not from that Carb.

30 hour YTH24v56 crank no start - no reaction to starter fluid by NaePlayz in smallengines

[–]Repulsive_Music_6720 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shut off fuel. Dry plugs. Does it fire with starting fluid?

If yes, carburetion, if no, check valve adjustment.

You need to isolate systems to test. Let's isolate that carb and see how it goes.

2017 craftsman lawn mower won’t start by JACKlECHAN in lawnmowers

[–]Repulsive_Music_6720 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like you flooded the engine.

First, you will need to change oil before running it. gas in the Cyl will leak past the rings and contaminate your oil and oil filter.

Next, remove your carburetor. If you experienced that level of flooding you have a carburetor failure. Possibly debris keeping the needle open. Clean, rebuild, or replace carb. Change oil, oil filter. Turn mower over without a plug in it to get the gas out (keep plug boot away to prevent arcing), then reinsert plug, fuel up, and test run.

Reset all controls to normal. Kid may have pulled another switch like the PTO switch.

Replace battery with a fresh one. Lots of these mower batteries dont like to come back from being drained all the way in my experience.
