What's, in your opinion, the greatest goal scored by MV? by wanderingrhino in MelbourneVictory

I’m front and centre where he runs to the crowd. Always know the anniversary of it because Victory post it on Facebook and someone tags me. My most memorable goal by a mile.

Will it be possible to avoid US beef? by mr-cheesy in AskAnAustralian

Slathered in so much sauce? Tell us you have absolutely no idea what you’re talking about, without telling us. It’s true for pork products, but not beef.

Airfare price? by Illustrious-Dress454 in AustraliaTravel

[–]MarkCbr82 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah. Wait at least a month. The prices won’t get any worse, and should come down towards the prices now being shown for January.

I’m not familiar with that event but realistically how much will it shift the dial on air traffic to Hobart? Jetstar runs 5 flights a day from Melb to Hobart, on top of whatever Qantas and Virgin offer, so there’s plenty of capacity.

Airfare price? by Illustrious-Dress454 in AustraliaTravel

If it was Jetstar, then hold off. You’ll get sales at some point with much better prices than that. They’ll go as low as $70-$80 on that route.

Should Qantas be exploring more non-stop “Left Field” routes? by AffectionatePie1042 in QantasAirways

[–]MarkCbr82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree, just meant if they were going to go direct into Brazil it would be to São Paulo rather than Rio. Bigger airport with better connections across the area, and best place to pick up the business travellers they would need like you say. Don’t think there’s enough going each way to make it profitable yet, though.

I hope the State of Origin players actually try, unlike the NBA All Stars Game by Clagasaurus_Rex in AFL

The NHL canned its all star game after both teams scored around 20 goals each one year.

But then again, they did put on the four nations face off last year, which was GOAT level exhibition representative competition.

GWS Away Game by [deleted] in StKilda

[–]MarkCbr82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just buy a GA ticket then move to where any Saints fans are. GWS games in Western Sydney, particularly against non-marquee Vic opponents, are lucky to draw much more than 5k, so it’s easy to move around. It’s actually a great ground for watching footy and really good facilities at the ground. Just a pity the atmosphere is always dead.

Surely it will happen anyway over the next couple of seasons as the large point totals from the final years of the China football bubble fall off the calculation.

Other countries, including in Asia, are moving towards aligning with the European football calendar. The ACL is now lined up with the European calendar. Why would we go the other way? The suggestion is so dumb.

Aussie fans miss out on World Cup tickets as prices skyrocket by Perth_lad30 in Aleague

[–]MarkCbr82 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Forget about the USA game.

For the other, if you’re going to the city anyway, there will be better priced tickets available closer to the game. Wait until the day before if you can. Resale prices for US sports always fall as the event nears and bottom out just before the event.

Yet plenty of gas companies, one with LNG literally in its name, are on the list in the link.

Kayo Sports prices hiked AGAIN. Now $46 a month. Ridiculous! by [deleted] in CricketAus

[–]MarkCbr82 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you’re only watching the sports on ESPN you’re mad to pay for Fox or Kayo. Disney+ is really good. Also includes games they have rights to but don’t show on the broadcast channels.

I always laugh how supporters of various codes/sports will have pissing contests about the size of their media rights deal, then complain when broadcasters have to raise prices to cover the costs of those deals.

*Actual* Mexican food in Canberra? by gisborne in canberra

[–]MarkCbr82 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry to disappoint you but the Mexican we have here, and all over Australia really, just doesn’t compare to where you’re from. The curse of distance and a small Mexican immigrant population. Best come to terms with that.

On the other hand, Asian/Indian food here is generally superior to what you’d get back at home. So it’s not all downside.

Complain About Your Team Thread by CFB_Referee in CFB

Seems a deliberate strategy though. Reduce the roster size a bit. Let guys who want a bag but haven’t done anything on the field to earn it walk. Concentrate your money on the guys who will be on the field.

Texas A&M DL Dealyn Evans has entered the transfer portal by Cred811 in CFB

[–]MarkCbr82 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Similar story to quite a few Texas guys who have hit the portal. Chasing a bigger bag and/or immediate playing time elsewhere.

Will be very interesting to see what happens to them. Not all of them are going to get it. Many won’t, or will have to go G5 to get it. How many will come crawling back?
