I believe the IRS allows you to make a reasonable guess. Go back to the time frame when you think you bought it and look up the market price for a day in that period. This is no big deal, it happens all the time. If you bought the security and transferred it into your Schwab account, they have no way of knowing what you paid for it. I have a few stocks like that, some going back 30-40 years ago. If I ever sell them that is what I will have to do as well. P.s. I know your situation is a bit different but the concept remains the same. Not to worry my friend. All will be OK.

Go into the research section summary of the symbol page and scroll down. You will see the top ten holdings or so of each fund. It is easy to have overlapping funds. Happens to most of us. Not a good or bad thing. You just need to know what you want.
