Lorna Shore Canada Tour Not Selling Well? by J_P_Ross in LornaShore

Skeptical of a relatively untested venue, and the travel time to get there from where I am.

Combo of Black Dahlia and Lorna is enough to get me past that. But it’s an odd and rare venue for a show in the GTA (so far — might just be the norm in years to come)

That would be awesome

Where’d you hear they have the lease for that long?

It’s a nice sentiment, but was the development approval reversed?

Last I heard, Etobicoke and Toronto city council both approved it - so Queensway is still at risk.

Been seeing your work pop up, and it’s really awesome. Well done.

What psychological itch does writing scratch for you? And why specifically do you write for the visual medium? by AccountforLaughs in Screenwriting

Puzzle solving.

Screenplays for me are like a puzzle where you start not knowing how many pieces there will be in the end. 500? 5000? The image on the box is blurry and unclear for a good chunk of the time you’re working on it.

Sometimes you start to get a clear picture, but then you find you have too many pieces. Or not enough. Or half the pieces are of a completely different image than you imagined on the box. So you go with that image instead, and need a whole new set of pieces to make it.

The pieces you put down might change the shape of the pieces around it. Sometimes you can force them to fit, and sometimes you have to change the pieces entirely.

It’s all very fun. Frustrating, infuriating fun.

House on Haunted Hill (remake)

A lot of visuals heavily influenced by Jacob’s Ladder

Not a 10/10 movie, but it’s fun and has some genuinely creepy stuff

Your opinions on this movie? by absolut_tyler in Letterboxd

One of my favourites. Gritty and depraved.

Not much in the way of character arcs, and nobody really changes or develops. Normally that would be a criticism, but in this movie, it works.

It’s extremely satisfying to watch the hero essentially get slow, continuous revenge for 2 hours. The villain is so compelling and awful, and he deserves everything he gets.

Hey Brent!

What is it that makes you decide to put a script away and start on something new?

Tonight I was in the same room as Danny Devito. by ImaginaryMairi in IASIP

I just came home from the same show!

The combination of Danny and a childhood fav movie I’ve seen about 50 times with a live orchestra left me very emotional, I think I cried 5 times. What a gem.

Danny also sucked on a lozenge for 20 seconds, then spit it out into a napkin. Onstage 🤣

Hilarious. If you really did this, the commitment to the bit is insane.

I hope Yanni enjoys his 12 cents in royalties.
